WHAT! I Have To Kill Heaven's Son To Live!-Chapter 147: Is There Anything Sweeter Than Them?
Chapter 147: Chapter 147: Is There Anything Sweeter Than Them?
"Th-Then... can I get this one too?" she asked, voice barely a whisper.
Reon’s eyes widened in shock when he saw what she was holding.
It was a sexy black nightgown, delicately trimmed with lace, soft to the touch and nearly sheer, leaving little to the imagination.
Reon’s face flushed. He coughed lightly. "Ahem... Yes. That too."
The shopkeeper chuckled softly, clearly enjoying the scene. "Of course, sir~"
Reon paid without hesitation, storing the bags into his spatial ring.
Cloudia gave the shopkeeper a polite bow before shifting back into her small, adorable form.
With everything settled, Reon stepped back onto the sunlit street, Cloudia now perched lightly on his shoulder.
He continued his walk, a smile lingering on his lips, the world around him brightening just a little.
"I can even afford expensive clothes now," Reon mused inwardly, a subtle satisfaction blooming in his chest. "Not bad for a so-called ’minor villain.’"
A few minutes later, the scent of something sweet tickled his senses.
His steps slowed.
Ahead stood a charming little sweets shop, its wooden sign swaying gently above the entrance.
Through the glass window, trays of colorful confections shimmered beneath warm light.
Reon smiled again.
"How about some sweets, Cloudia? You too, little tiger?"
"Yes, Master~!" Cloudia replied in her soft, elegant voice.
The little tiger eagerly nodded, her tail swishing with excitement. It was clear she wanted some too.
With a flicker of light, Cloudia emerged in her human form, her silver hair gleaming.
A moment later, the little tiger leapt out from the Inner Beast Domain in her small beast form, landing gracefully beside him.
They stepped inside.
The shop bell jingled gently, and a young girl behind the counter looked up—only to freeze in wide-eyed awe.
Cloudia’s ethereal beauty and fox-like features, paired with the adorable tiger cub, were sights she clearly hadn’t expected.
"W-Wait... She has fox ears—and a tail?!" she gasped, her eyes wide with disbelief.
Reon offered a brief explanation—only for her eyes to widen in even greater shock.
The girl’s eyes sparkled. "B-Beast Tribes?! I’ve only heard stories—but they’re real... and so cute!"
She hurried around the counter and gently took Cloudia’s hand. "Your skin’s so smooth... and your hair—it’s like moonlight silk!"
Cloudia blushed faintly but let her hands be examined with grace.
The girl then knelt down, trying to pat the little tiger—but the cub hesitated, ears flattening as she scurried behind Reon’s leg.
"Aww, nooo! I want to pat her!" the girl whined playfully.
"She’s a little shy around strangers," Reon said with a small chuckle, gently patting the tiger’s head to calm her.
Turning back to the counter, he asked, "So, what kind of sweets do you have?"
"We’ve got all kinds!" the girl beamed. "Low-sugar, soft and chewy ones, rich mid-level confections... and even rare premium sweets imported from the Capital!"
Reon glanced down at his two companions, eyes twinkling with mischief.
"Hmm... do you have anything sweeter than these two?"
The girl blinked—then giggled. "Nope! There’s nothing in this world sweeter than your companions, sir!"
Reon smirked. "Heh. You know taste well."
"G-Geez, Master..." Cloudia pouted, cheeks tinted pink.
Even the little tiger let out a quiet whine and hid her face behind her tail, clearly flustered.
Reon laughed lightly, then bought a generous box of sweets and handed the girl a few extra silver coins. "Thanks for the warm welcome."
"Come again anytime!" she called after them with a cheerful wave.
As the trio stepped out into the street once more, Cloudia returned to the Inner Beast Domain with the little tiger in tow, their presence a quiet comfort in his soul.
The sun had begun to dip ever so slightly, casting golden light across the cobblestones as Reon continued down the lively streets of Qinghe.
After another ten minutes of weaving through crowds and merchant stalls, he finally stood before a large three-story building—its towering structure bustling with movement and sound.
Even from outside, he could hear the hum of chatter and clinking of mugs.
A carved sign hung above the grand entrance, its letters worn but proud:
The Adventurer Guild.
Reon raised an eyebrow.
"Oh? There’s an Adventurer Guild even in a small city like this..."
In the novel, Yang Lie never paid them any attention—he claimed adventurers were beneath the dignity of a sect, insisting that only those without the talent or ability to join one became adventurers.
Of course, that wasn’t entirely true.
Some capable individuals chose the adventurer’s path willingly, drawn by freedom, opportunity, or their own convictions.
Adventurer Guilds existed across nearly every continent, acting as independent organizations where strength and reputation spoke louder than background or birth.
In some regions, they were looked down upon—viewed as rogue cultivators or unruly mercenaries, lacking the discipline and prestige of sects or magic towers.
But high-ranking adventurers were respected everywhere.
And there were real advantages to joining.
Freedom. Access to quests and rare resources.
And most importantly, the Adventurer Card—a badge of identity that allowed one to travel across borders, explore forbidden lands, and build a reputation beyond the chains of politics or sect loyalty.
His lips curled slightly.
"Well then... maybe I’ll become an adventurer myself."
Curious and quietly amused, he stepped inside.
The moment he entered, a strong waft of liquor and roasted meat greeted him like a wall.
The hall was lively—filled with tables, adventurers sharing meals and loud stories.
Laughter, banter, and the occasional clash of mugs blended into a chaotic harmony.
He walked slowly toward the front counter, ears catching fragments of conversations as he passed.
"Did you hear? Chiqiu Town got attacked by a horde of Demonic Beasts," said a man gnawing on a chicken leg.
"No way! Think there’ll be good quests posted for it?" someone from a nearby table replied eagerly.
"Definitely. Danger always brings coin."
"That is... unless those damned sects elites swoop in and steal all the glory again."
"You’re right."
At another table, two young men clinked cups.
"Brother, I ranked up! E-Rank adventurer now!"
"Congrats! That means you’re buying today."
"Of course! Eat everything you can!"
A few steps later, Reon passed a rowdy group.
"Kyaa! Our party’s mission to Shanhe Village was wild," a bulky man declared, downing his drink.
"Oh? What happened?"
"I was saved by the most gorgeous girl I’ve ever seen. And it’s an Elf. She was strong, fast... and beautiful beyond words. I fell for her on the spot."
"Huh? An Elf? In Ninzhou County? Are you sure?"
"Yeah."
"Was she... an adventurer?" one man nearby asked, puzzled.
"I think so. Maybe."
"Eek! You’d better stay far away from her. I heard a new B-Rank party just arrived in the city yesterday—where even C-Rank adventurers are rare—and guess what? Their leader is a stunning elf!"
"W-What?! No way! Then... it has to be her!" the bulky man exclaimed, eyes wide in shock.
Then he added, "Still, it’s not a crime to fall for her, right? I mean... she’s just that beautiful. Like one of those Immortal Fairies from the great sects."
"Hehe, yeah, you’re not wrong."
Reon’s steps slowed.
"An Elf? In this region? They usually never leave the Enigma Veil Continent... And saving a human? That doesn’t sound like them at all..."
A memory stirred—
"Wait... there was that one party made up entirely of women—a Human, an Elf, a Dragon, and a Dwarf.
Supposed to be just supporting characters, but each one was absurdly powerful."
"They appeared later in the story during the battle against the Demon Worshippers, turning the tide when all seemed lost. Each of them eventually rose to SSS-Rank."
"Together, they became the youngest—and one of the most powerful—SSS-Rank adventurer parties in Thalara’s history, proudly calling themselves the Twilight Princess."
"Even Elite Mages of the Magic Towers and True Disciples of the Overlord Sects respected them."
"And among them..."
His eyes narrowed.
"The human girl was from this very continent—no, from Ninzhou County itself. Her past... was tragic and deeply heartbreaking, yet she was always my favorite."
"But... they’re not supposed to appear in the story yet, right?"
And then—
Thud!
He slammed into something—no, someone.
A huge figure stood before him, muscles bulging beneath rough leather armor.
Reon blinked, momentarily startled.
"Oh—sorry. I wasn’t paying attention."
The man turned, looming over him with a sneer.
"You little punk. You dare bump into me?"
His breath smelled of booze and meat.
"Do you even know who I am?"
Reon sighed inwardly.
"Tch. Of course. Trouble again. I really am cursed with bad luck..."
