What Do You Mean I Have To Comprehend Dao As A Mortal God?-Chapter 77: Limited Damage Negation
I looked away from the dead Anomaly in front of me to look around the area for a moment, checking that there really wasn’t any other Anomalies that were waiting in ambush.
"Is... Is it safe now, Saviour?" A soft voice came from behind.
I turned to see the four bunny girls were still there, all of them peeking around the corner nervously.
I nodded, "It’s fine now, it’s dead."
Four of them let out a collective sigh of relief before they hopped out from around the corner.
"Then Saviour should come back quickly before more of them show up!" One of them suggested, prompting the other four to nod their heads in agreement.
I was about to agree when I heard another soft thumping noise coming from the tunnel behind me, which would have led to the cavern that I had initially fought the Anomalies in before I teleported myself back.
I wasn’t the only one who heard it as the four bunny girls twitched their ears at the same time and stared in the direction of the sound.
I nodded at them, "Go back and seal off the entrance. Apologies but I’ll still have to borrow your sword and shield for a while longer."
"Wha... What about you, Saviour? You should come as well!"
I shook my head, "I’ll go check out the sound if it’s another one of these things coming towards us. Don’t worry about me, I can teleport back if I need to."
They didn’t seem to be happy about that but a quick gaze from me made them obey as they scurried back towards the colony.
Another thump came from the direction of the cavern and I took a moment to pick up the corpse of the dead Anomaly to drag it behind me as I headed towards the source of the sound.
When I reached the cavern, I found myself looking at a dozen or so of those ’elite orc’ type Anomalies and all of them turned their heads at the same time to stare at me.
Well then...
I looked behind me where the colony was before turning back to look at the crowd of Anomalies that was now stomping towards me.
No way was I going to lead this group back to the colony.
I sucked in a breath before tossing the corpse of the Anomaly I had been dragging at the closest enemy, the top half smacking into its face while the bottom half struck it in the chest.
While it stumbled back, I leapt towards it and slashed my sword at the creature’s chest, slicing it into two and separating the creature into two different parts.
I then jumped to the next one and tried to slice its head off, only for the Anomaly to dodge my slash and try to grab me with its arm.
Using the arm that it had extended as a springboard, I kicked at it to launch myself higher up into the air before bracing myself and increasing my gravity.
I fell back down towards the Anomaly that was still recovering from being kicked and stabbed my sword directly into its head, smashing the creature to the ground as well.
I raised up my buckler and projected a blue shield in front of me, right as the next Anomaly tried to punch at me, its fist smashing against my construct.
My arm went numb from the impact and I realised it would be a bad idea for me to tank it directly so I shifted my arm a little, forcing the Anomaly’s fist to the side as I redirected its weight away from me.
As it stumbled towards the side, I deactivated the shield to activate it on the sword, stabbing the blade into its neck before swinging it to slice its head off, letting its headless corpse crash onto the ground behind me.
I heard another thump and I was about to leap away before something smashed into my back and I was flung off towards the wall, crashing face first into it.
I groaned and pushed myself away from the wall, shaking my head to clear out the ringing in my ears.
Turning back, I found the Anomaly that had punched me from behind, its fist still smoking lightly from where it had smacked me.
I turned and spat out some of the pieces of the rock wall that had slipped into my mouth when I crashed into the wall. While that did hurt somewhat, it wasn’t enough to do any actual damage on me thanks to Dan’s power.
The Anomaly seemed curious that I could survive its punch and tilted its head right as I charged towards it.
It recognised that I was still a threat and raised its fist once more, only for a shadow to appear beside its head to smack it across its face.
That barely did any damage to the creature of course, but the sudden unexpected attack thanks to my possession of Sergei’s abilities surprised it enough that I was able to reach it before it could swing its fist.
I slashed my sword through its waist, cutting it into half.
Before it could even fall over, I kicked at its upper torso to send it flying towards a trio of Anomalies, knocking all three of them to the ground.
At the same time, I slashed my sword upwards in an arc, slicing through the wrist of another Anomaly that had tried to grab me from the side.
I then flipped the sword around and stabbed it into the chest of the Anomaly that tried to grab me.
A guttural growl came from the Anomaly and its other hand tried to grab me, only for me to smack the hand away with my buckler.
I then twisted the sword and pulled it out of its chest, slashing it open before kicking it away.
I landed into a half crouch, looking up just as another Anomaly kicked its foot towards me.
It smacked against my side before I could protect myself, the blow sending me flying and spinning through the air.
A groan escaped from my lips and this time, that blow seemed to be enough to get through my defenses and pain exploded in my side.
I crashed into the wall again and fell onto the ground, the crash not hurting as much and I pressed my hand against my side.
I’m pretty sure I have a bruise forming underneath my shirt right now but now wasn’t the time to check.
I leapt back on my feet again, biting through the pain as I raised my shield once more, projecting another blue shield before another Anomaly punched at me once again.
The shield held against it and I shoved it back, bracing myself before thrusting out my sword towards the Anomaly and stabbing it through the neck.
I kicked it in the chest and sent it flying away to smash into several of its companions, using the space to leap at another Anomaly to slice it vertically in half.
Another Anomaly tried to punch at me so I had to project my shield again, only for an Anomaly to appear on my other side to punch at me.
I raised my sword instinctively to try and parry it but there was no way that unenchanted weapon could hold against a blow like that and it immediately shattered before I was smashed into the ground.
Another flash of pain exploded from my chest and I think I heard my ribs crack under that blow.
I slowly realised that this defensive power from Dan might actually operate on a damage threshold basis where the moment it reaches a certain amount of damage, it would stop working.
I know that one of his powers was a limited form of damage negation so I’m assuming that was the power I got from him.
I’ve seen him shrug off blows from Anomalies like they were nothing so I wasn’t really sure what the limit was, thinking that it might just be referring to the fact that it negates a percentage of the damage.
Now I think I figured out that the limit might be only being able to limit a certain amount of damage before it stops working and needs to recharge.
I groaned and threw a shadow spike at the Anomaly above me, forcing it back in surprise before I rolled back onto my feet.
There were three more Anomalies in front of me and I had just lost my sword.
Guess I’m going to need to do this the hard way... 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮
I charged up my right fist with lightning while projecting the shield, rushing straight towards the remaining Anomalies and bashing one in the face with my shield.
I then punched the second one with my fist, the lightning blasting it in the chest to force it to stumble back before I slid between the legs of the final one.
As it bent down to look between its legs, I grabbed one of its legs and pulled it up to smash it down on the Anomaly on my right, smashing both of them into pieces.
The last Anomaly turned to try and grab me so I lifted my shield and did a shield charge, slamming my shield against it and shoving it back until it crashed into the wall.
I then continued pushing against it, using the shield to crush the Anomaly into the wall until the creature exploded under the force.
Only then did I collapse onto a knee as I fought to catch my breath.
Fuck... That was hard...
As I was still recovering on the ground, I heard another thump coming from the side and I turned to see another Anomaly stomping towards me.
Fuck.
