Wedding Night: My Disabled Husband Made Me Cry-Chapter 91: Do You Still Dare to Be with Him?
Vivian Quinn’s brow furrowed. "What nonsense are you talking about!"
"Looks like you really don’t know. I thought you already knew and were just waiting for the right time to take a share of the assets."
Vivian Quinn’s brows knitted even tighter. "To get me to divorce him, you’d go so far as to curse your own son?"
"Who said I was cursing him!" Wendy Reeves’s eyes were filled with pain. "What I’m saying is true. The men of the Sterling Family don’t live past thirty!"
"Impossible!" Vivian Quinn said with certainty. "Jett has headaches, but it can’t be that serious!"
"There’s nothing visibly wrong with his body, but it’s the truth! For generations, the men of the Sterling Family have all experienced a rapid decline in health right before they died. None of them have lived past thirty. Vivian Quinn, now that you know, do you still dare to be with him?"
"How could this be..." Vivian Quinn couldn’t accept it. "I don’t believe it..."
"If you don’t believe me, go back and ask him. There’s no reason for me to lie to you about something like this. Or you could just go ask Ian Sterling. Weren’t you two classmates?"
Vivian Quinn remembered how Ian Sterling had seemed hesitant to speak that morning. Thinking back now, it was very likely this was what he wanted to talk about!
"So, according to you, Ian Sterling won’t live past thirty either?"
Wendy Reeves wiped the tears from the corner of her eyes. "Ian Sterling is from a side branch of the Sterling Family. He doesn’t have this hidden illness. He’s normal. Otherwise, Jett’s grandmother wouldn’t have brought these side branches into the Sterling Family to be specially groomed."
"In other words, they’re just waiting for Jett to die so they can take over the corporation he controls. None of them are good people!"
Vivian Quinn shook her head. "It’s impossible. He won’t die... I won’t let him die..."
"I don’t want him to die either! He’s my precious boy!" Wendy Reeves broke down, sobbing. "But that’s just how it is. There’s nothing anyone can do! That’s why I thought Jett had to leave me a descendant. He had to find a good girl, get married, and have a child, but he just had to find you... Vivian Quinn, if Jett passes away without leaving a child, I will never forgive you!"
Vivian Quinn’s ears were ringing, and she couldn’t think at all.
Suddenly, a heavy knock sounded on the car window. Both women turned at the same time and saw Jett Sterling standing outside.
The next second, the car door was pulled open. The man’s face was grim as he spoke in a cold voice, "Get out."
Vivian Quinn got out of the car numbly and followed him into the Rolls-Royce parked nearby.
The car quickly drove away from Aethelgard University.
Jett Sterling turned to look at her. "What did my mom say to you?"
Vivian Quinn snapped back to reality and hurriedly grabbed his hand to check his pulse.
Jett Sterling frowned and pulled his hand back. "Vivian, what are you doing?"
Vivian Quinn stubbornly held onto his hand and continued to check his pulse.
Jett Sterling suddenly realized what was happening and gripped her by the shoulders. "What exactly did she tell you!"
Vivian Quinn’s whole body trembled uncontrollably as tears streamed down her face.
Jett Sterling’s brows furrowed tightly. "You found out, didn’t you?"
"So she wasn’t lying to me..." Vivian Quinn asked, choking back sobs. "You really won’t live past thirty, will you?"
Jett Sterling froze.
Vivian Quinn already knew the answer. She broke down and cried out, "Why... Why is it like this..."
"Vivian, I’m sorry." Jett Sterling pulled her into a tight embrace. "Please don’t cry..."
Vivian Quinn tried to calm herself down and asked urgently, "You must have seen the best doctors. Couldn’t they find anything?"
"They couldn’t find anything."
"Then why didn’t you tell me sooner?"
"Vivian, if I had told you, would you still have been willing to be with me?"
Seeing his nervous expression, Vivian Quinn’s heart ached for him even more.
She nodded forcefully. "I would. Love isn’t about time. Even if you only had one day left, it can’t stop your heart from skipping a beat, right?"
Jett Sterling cupped her face in his hands. "Vivian, thank you."
"I won’t let you die." Vivian Quinn held his hand. "I absolutely will not let you die."
"Vivian, I won’t die." The man wiped the tears from her face. "If I really couldn’t guarantee I would live, I wouldn’t have dragged you into this. Don’t worry, the medical team has already found a way to extend my life."
"Really?" Vivian Quinn looked at him, her voice full of suspicion. "If there really was a way, how could you not tell your mother? You said extend your life, not cure you. So what exactly is this method to extend your life?"
"Vivian, that’s not important."
"It is important!" Vivian Quinn was frantic. "I won’t allow you to use any method that tortures you just to extend your life!"
"Vivian, don’t overthink it."
"I’m not overthinking it. It must be something like that!" Vivian Quinn said with certainty. "If it was a real cure, your mother would have known long ago. Since you’re hiding it from her, there must be something fishy going on. Tell me the truth, how do you extend it, and what’s the price!"
Jett Sterling didn’t speak.
"You said we’re husband and wife, that we shouldn’t deceive each other!"
Jett Sterling closed his eyes and said in a heavy voice, "The price is that the headaches will get worse, and they’ll most likely happen every day. It will be a living hell."
Vivian Quinn shuddered violently. "It’s already hard for you to bear when they happen occasionally. I can’t even imagine it happening every day..."
"I don’t care." The man’s jaw tensed. "I won’t leave you alone in this world. I’ll stay with you."
Vivian Quinn hugged him. "We still have time, Jett Sterling. I won’t let you die. I will find a way to cure you. Unless it’s the absolute last resort, don’t take that path. I don’t want to watch you suffer."
Jett Sterling closed his eyes. "Okay..."
...
Later that evening, Jett Sterling went to the study to work, while Vivian Quinn was taking a bath in the bathroom.
Although they chatted and ate happily as usual after returning home, Vivian Quinn’s heart was still heavy.
’I have to find my master as soon as possible. It’s the only way to cure Jett Sterling.’
Her phone suddenly rang. Vivian Quinn glanced at the screen and saw it was a call from Mason Landon.
Vivian Quinn hesitated for a moment before answering. "Mason?"
"Vivian," Mason Landon’s gentle voice came through the phone. "I thought you would come find me right away."
Vivian Quinn paused for a moment. "Sorry, I’ve been a bit busy these past few days and couldn’t come see you. How are your injuries?"
"I know you’re avoiding me. What I meant was, regarding Jett Sterling’s illness, I thought you would come find me right away."
Vivian Quinn was stunned. "You know about Jett Sterling’s illness?"
"The Landon Family is a family of doctors. And what you don’t know is that my grandfather and my father both served as the Sterling Family’s private physicians. The arrangement only ended with me because I wasn’t interested in serving the Sterling Family."
"But the point is, from beginning to end, my grandfather and my father were never able to figure out the strange illness of the Sterling Family men. I, however, am different."
"You figured it out?"
"Yes. That’s why I thought you would come to me right away. After all, Wendy Reeves has already come looking for me."
