Chapter 37: Chapter 37: Take Off Your Clothes

Jett Sterling explained, "I was just outside. It was so hot, I started sweating."

"Oh." Vivian Quinn didn’t seem to doubt him. "Next time you’re outside, remember to take off your suit jacket."

"Alright," Jett Sterling said. "Vivian, let’s go to the rooftop."

"Why are we going to the rooftop?"

"You’ll see when we get there."

"Alright then."

The two took the elevator to the top floor. The moment she stepped out onto the terrace, Vivian Quinn was stunned.

The vast terrace, spanning over two hundred square meters, had been transformed into a sea of flowers, looking absolutely magical under the lights.

"It’s so beautiful!"

"It was a bit rushed, so this was the best I could do on short notice." Jett Sterling took her hand. "Vivian, I’ll give you an unforgettable memory for every birthday from now on."

"Thank you, Jett Sterling. This is already more than enough."

"I’m glad you like it. Happy birthday, Mrs. Sterling."

"Thank you."

A sweet, childlike voice suddenly began to sing "Happy Birthday." Vivian Quinn looked closer and saw a robot carrying a cake, rolling toward them as it sang.

After finishing the song, the robot spoke. "To the intelligent, adorable, gentle, gracious, elegant, and beautiful lady of the house, Miss Vivian Quinn, happy birthday."

"Thank you." Vivian Quinn was overjoyed and reached out to pat its head.

"Vivian, make a wish." 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂

"Okay." Vivian Quinn clasped her hands, closed her eyes, and made a heartfelt wish before blowing out the candles. "Jett Sterling, let’s have some cake."

"Alright."

The two of them sat amidst the sea of flowers, chatting while they ate their cake.

Vivian Quinn described the evening’s events to Jett Sterling, who listened quietly.

’This must be what they mean by peaceful, tranquil years,’ she couldn’t help but think.

’I will never forget this birthday Jett Sterling planned for me,’ she thought. ’I’ll never forget the happiness of this very moment...’

...

「The next day.」

Vivian Quinn packed up the cake she had stored in the refrigerator from the night before and went to the hospital to visit Joy Chase.

Just as she stepped out of the elevator, a figure blocked her path.

It was Rachel Quinn. The "drenched beauty" from last night must not have slept a wink; her eyes were red and swollen, making her look utterly ridiculous.

Vivian Quinn watched her with a composed, unhurried air. "Looking for me?"

"As if you don’t know!" Without another word, Rachel Quinn dragged her into the elevator.

Once the two of them reached the hospital’s rooftop terrace, Rachel Quinn finally spoke, demanding, "Vivian, why did you set me up?"

Vivian Quinn looked at her calmly. "And how exactly did I do that?"

"You conspired with President Aldridge to treat me like that! You’ve completely ruined my reputation!"

"Oh? Then why don’t you explain your conversation with President Aldridge?"

"You drugged me with a hallucinogen! I was just spouting nonsense!"

"Rachel Quinn, do you take everyone at the party last night for three-year-olds? You think anyone would believe that?" Vivian Quinn gave a faint smile. "You can turn off your phone’s voice recorder. There’s no need to set a trap for me."

Rachel Quinn’s hand, which was in her pocket, froze. She stared at Vivian Quinn in disbelief.

"Don’t look at me like that. In the past five years, you’ve used the same handful of dirty tricks over and over. Did you really think I wouldn’t see it coming?" Vivian Quinn sneered. "Aren’t you just dying to know why everything slipped out of your control last night?"

Rachel Quinn gritted her teeth. "I’d love to hear all about it."

"Then I’ll be charitable and tell you." Vivian Quinn’s lips curled into a smirk. "Rachel Quinn, you thought that by orchestrating my ruin, I would be cast into Hell, lose Austin Grant, lose the Quinn Family, and never get back on my feet. But you never imagined I’d be the one to humiliate you, time and time again."

"You’re clever, but I’m not an idiot. Did you really think I wouldn’t figure out you were the mastermind behind Gordon Aldridge showing up at the Quinn family home that day?"

"Then there’s last night. You didn’t originally plan to livestream it, did you? After all, the Quinn Group’s reputation was at stake, and you’re supposed to take it over someday. So your original plan was just to have Gordon Aldridge rape me."

"But then you saw me with that unlimited black card at the mall, and you panicked. You started to worry that the man backing me was someone important—someone who could even go up against the Grant Family. You were desperate to destroy me, so you decided to livestream the entire event last night. That way, you could ruin me and make the man who gave me the card disgusted with me all at once."

The color drained from Rachel Quinn’s face.

Vivian Quinn smiled and continued, "Unfortunately for you, you miscalculated. Everything that happened last night had already slipped from your grasp. It was a trap I set for you. My dear sister, how do you like it? A taste of your own medicine. Are you satisfied?"

A chill ran up Rachel Quinn’s spine. Overcome with a mixture of grief and indignation, she began to tremble uncontrollably.

"Don’t be nervous. This is just the beginning. You love taking what’s mine, don’t you? Well, it’s time to pay it all back."

Rachel Quinn swallowed hard, struggling to compose herself. "What do you want back? Mom and Dad? Or Austin?"

Vivian Quinn chuckled. "The things you care about become your weaknesses. I used to care about them, which is why you were able to hurt me by taking them."

"But now, I don’t care anymore. I certainly can’t be bothered to take them back. What I want from you... is for you to pay the price."

Rachel Quinn closed her eyes and took a deep breath. When she opened them again, her face wore a cold smile, as if a mask had just been ripped away.

"Vivian, the two of us have never spoken like this." Her voice was no longer its usual gentle, pleasant tone; instead, it was laced with a chilling coldness. "And I have never felt so liberated."

"That’s right. How could you, when you were always wearing that hypocritical mask?"

"You must really look down on me, don’t you?" Rachel Quinn said with a small laugh. "You feel so wronged. After all, you’re the true heiress of the Quinn Family, yet you’re the one who suffered for sixteen years. Right?"

"But have any of you ever tried to see it from my side? I was sixteen when someone suddenly told me I was a thief’s daughter. Can you even imagine how I felt? It would have been better if I had just died. At least then I could have felt I was still pure."

"But reality was cruel—so cruel that I wished I were dead. Was I wrong to fight to protect the happy life I had? Greatness requires overlooking the minor details. Vivian Quinn, my ambitions are far greater than yours!"

Vivian Quinn smiled faintly. "You really think your ambitions are so grand? You despise being a thief’s daughter, yet all you do are petty, thieving things yourself. It just goes to show you inherited a thief’s genes."

"Shut up!" Rachel Quinn’s gaze turned vicious, her pale, delicate face contorting with a sinister expression. "Don’t you dare mock me from your moral high ground!"

"So what if you’re so noble? You still ended up a lame, ugly mess, fallen into the Dust, didn’t you? Let me tell you something, Vivian Quinn, at least *I* won. Mom and Dad only love me, and Austin is going to marry *me*. Does it really matter how it happened? All I care about is being the one who has the last laugh."

"And you really think you’ll be the one to have the last laugh?"

"Or do you think it’ll be you?" Rachel Quinn’s face was a mask of absolute confidence. "My dear sister, aren’t you the least bit curious about what really happened during that year of memories you lost?"
