Chapter 31: Chapter 31: He Leaned Over and Kissed Her Fiercely

"Vivian, you’ll regret this." Jett Sterling used every ounce of his self-control to keep from losing it. Cupping her face in his hands, he spoke rationally, "Look at me. Sober up a little."

Vivian Quinn’s hazy eyes stared at him as she struggled to pull back a sliver of her sanity. "...Jett Sterling?"

"It’s me. You’ve been drugged. I’m taking you to the hospital now, okay?"

"No hospital." Vivian Quinn shook her head. "Home... Go home..."

"...Do you know what going home means?"

"I know!" Vivian Quinn nodded emphatically. "Home!"

"Alright."

The driver, going as fast as possible, made it back to the villa in twenty minutes.

Vivian Quinn was helped to the master bedroom by a maid and laid on the bed.

Jett Sterling leaned over her and pressed his lips to hers. "Vivian, give yourself to me. I won’t let you regret it."

Under the warm glow of the wall sconce, their two figures became entangled.

The kiss deepened, and the temperature in the air climbed higher and higher.

Jett Sterling’s eyes were bloodshot, an inextinguishable fire burning in their depths. He ripped off his tie and, while unbuttoning his shirt, lowered his head to kiss her again.

The next second, the girl in his arms suddenly pushed against his chest.

Jett Sterling was confused for a moment, then he saw that the girl was now somehow holding a pill in her hand.

"Quick... get me a glass of water..."

Jett Sterling: "..."

He slowly put two and two together. "You insisted on coming home because you have the antidote here?"

"Mhm!"

"..."

The man’s face suddenly darkened, but he still grabbed the water from the nightstand and helped her take the pill.

After taking the medicine, the burning sensation in Vivian Quinn’s body gradually subsided. She closed her eyes and fell into a deep sleep.

Jett Sterling leaned against the headboard, his handsome face as black as the bottom of a pot.

Looking at the girl sleeping soundly beside him, he felt even more disgruntled. He leaned down and kissed her fiercely!

Having taken the medicine, Vivian Quinn was in such a deep sleep that she had no idea she was being forcibly kissed.

The more Jett Sterling kissed her, the more uncomfortable he became. He threw off the covers, got out of bed, and strode into the bathroom on his long legs, not emerging for a long, long time...

...

When Vivian Quinn woke up, it was already broad daylight.

Memories flooded her mind like the opening scene of a movie. She had desperately fought to escape disaster, and then Jett Sterling had arrived.

She had kissed him...

Vivian Quinn’s face flushed red. She turned to look at the other side of the bed, but the man wasn’t there.

Vivian Quinn got up, took a shower in the bathroom, changed her clothes, and went downstairs, where her eyes met the man in the wheelchair.

The memory of last night’s kiss instantly flashed through Vivian Quinn’s mind, and her face began to burn. "Um... Good morning..."

Jett Sterling scoffed. "There’s nothing good about it."

Vivian Quinn: "..."

"What’s wrong?"

"What do you *think* is wrong?"

"...I don’t know."

Jett Sterling ignored her and went straight to the dining room.

Vivian Quinn hurried to follow him. "Mr. Sterling, are you in a bad mood? Who made you angry?"

"Let’s eat first."

Looking at the sumptuous breakfast, Vivian Quinn suddenly felt even hungrier and sat down to eat.

Vivian Quinn could tell Jett Sterling was not in a good mood today; he’d barely touched his breakfast. So, she went to the kitchen to make some pastries and brought them to his study.

"Mr. Sterling, try something I made."

The man glanced at the small cookies she was holding. "You know you’ve wronged me, so you’ve come to make amends?"

"...How did I wrong you? It’s not like I was taken advantage of last night."

’Last night, a powerful conviction had taken hold in her mind: she was Jett Sterling’s wife and absolutely could not be humiliated by another man.’

Jett Sterling looked displeased. "I thought your refusal to go to the hospital last night meant you wanted to use me as the antidote."

Vivian Quinn: "..." ’So, a certain antidote is unhappy about that?’

’Ever since she was kidnapped last time, she had been on her guard. To prevent anyone from using such dirty tricks on her again, she had specifically prepared an antidote for emergencies.’

’She’d forgotten to bring it when she went out yesterday, and of course, that was the day she fell for the trap.’

’She never would have dreamed that Silas Quinn would do something so vile on the anniversary of her mother’s death—harming his own biological daughter!’

’She had held on to her last shred of sanity to come home and take the antidote. There was nothing wrong with that...’

"Mr. Sterling, are you angry because I didn’t use you as my antidote?"

The man was noncommittal. "You’d rather take a pill than let me help you. Shouldn’t I be angry?"

Vivian Quinn’s lips twitched. "Of course I’d choose the pill. Your... thing... it hurts a lot."

Remembering that night, Jett Sterling’s mood improved considerably. "I’ll be gentler next time."

Vivian Quinn: "..." ’Why did the conversation suddenly get so racy!’

She placed the cookies on the desk. "You can have these. I’m leaving now!"

Vivian Quinn turned and fled as if a ravenous beast were chasing her.

...

After resting for two days, the swelling on Vivian Quinn’s face finally went down.

Rachel Quinn called her. "Vivian, you seriously injured President Aldridge. He’s furious and is threatening to go after the Quinn Family."

"What does that have to do with me?"

Rachel Quinn was taken aback. "This happened because of you, how could it have nothing to do with you!"

"Whether the Quinn Family lives or dies has nothing to do with me."

Rachel Quinn said in a wronged tone, "Vivian, we’re family, after all. We can clear up any misunderstanding. If you’re still angry, can’t I just apologize to you?"

"No matter how we fight behind closed doors, we absolutely cannot harm the interests of the Quinn Group. Listen to your big sister, come to the hospital and apologize to President Aldridge, okay?"

"Right, we can’t harm the interests of the Quinn Group. After all, you’re the one who’s going to inherit it."

"Vivian, how can you say that? You’re the Quinn Family’s biological daughter. I have no intention of inheriting the Quinn Group."

Vivian Quinn couldn’t be bothered to argue with this master of playing the victim. Her eyes darted, a hint of a smile flashing in their depths. "An apology, is it? Fine, I’ll go."

"...Really?"

"Would I lie about something like this?"

"That’s great! I’ll go buy a gift right now. You should hurry over."

"Just wait."

Vivian Quinn let Jett Sterling know she was leaving and quickly headed to the hospital.

When Silas Quinn saw her, he raised his hand to strike her. "You rebellious—"

Vivian Quinn shot him a sharp glare. "You dare lay a hand on me."

Silas Quinn’s hand, which was about to come down, froze in mid-air. He didn’t dare to follow through.

Rachel Quinn was extremely disappointed, but she still had to put on a worried expression. She stepped forward and said, "Dad, don’t be angry. Let’s have Vivian go in and apologize first."

Silas Quinn suppressed his fury. "Vivian Quinn, I’m warning you. Get in there right now and placate President Aldridge. If he blames the Quinn Family for this, I’m not done with you!"

"Let me tell you, President Aldridge has a powerful backer. No matter how rich your sugar daddy is, he can’t compare. So don’t go looking for trouble!"

Vivian Quinn smiled faintly. "You all wait here. No one is allowed to follow me in."

Silas Quinn watched her defensively. "What are you planning? Why won’t you let us in?"

"I’ll be too embarrassed to apologize if you’re watching."

"No! You’re definitely up to something!"

"Then I’m not going."

Vivian Quinn turned to leave but was blocked by Silas Quinn. "Stop right there! Fine, go in by yourself. But if you dare offend President Aldridge again, I’m not done with you!"

Vivian Quinn let out a soft laugh and turned to enter the hospital room.

For some reason, Rachel Quinn had a bad feeling.

She quietly crept up to the door of the hospital room and pressed her ear against it...
