Chapter 19: Chapter 19: I Am Your True Love

A warmth spread through Vivian Quinn’s heart. For some reason, the anxiety that had gripped her suddenly eased.

She felt this man possessed a kind of magic, an aura that compelled you to believe whatever he said.

The hotel manager quickly hurried over. He glanced at Jett Sterling, and though no one noticed the flicker of fear in his eyes, they all heard him say, "Please leave immediately."

Austin Grant sneered. "You’re being far too polite. With people like this, you don’t need to say ’please’."

"You’re right." The manager nodded. "Mr. Grant, all of you, get out of The Platinum Hall now."

"Did you hear that? Hurry up and... Wait, who are you telling to get out?"

The manager enunciated each word clearly. "Mr. Grant, take your guests and get out. All of you. The Platinum Hall will not allow you to continue your banquet."

Everyone: "..."!!!

Austin Grant was in disbelief. "I paid to hold my banquet here! On what grounds are you breaking the contract?"

"Rest assured, Mr. Grant, we will compensate you with double the penalty for breach of contract, as stipulated. But right now, you must leave immediately. Otherwise, I will have to call security."

Just as Austin Grant was about to speak, Ethan Grant pulled him back.

He lowered his voice. "The Platinum Hall has a mysterious background. We can’t afford a direct confrontation. Let’s go."

"Dad, if we really get kicked out like this, the Grant family will be utterly humiliated!"

"That man in the wheelchair is no simple character. And from the looks of it, he definitely has some connection to The Platinum Hall. We shouldn’t pick a fight we can’t win." Ethan Grant then raised his voice. "Everyone, my sincerest apologies for today. Please head home for now. When my son and Rachel have their wedding, I will host another banquet for you all."

Rachel Quinn was so aggrieved she started to cry. She had been looking forward to this engagement party for so long, and now it was ruined!

She shot Vivian Quinn a venomous glare before running off in tears.

Austin Grant quickly chased after her.

Vivian Quinn couldn’t help but smile. For five years, Rachel Quinn had never missed a day of playing the part of a sweet, innocent "white lotus" in front of everyone. This was the first time her emotions had ever spiraled so out of control.

The guests left one after another, until only three people remained in the vast and beautiful banquet hall.

Jett Sterling raised his hand slightly, and the manager quickly bowed respectfully and departed.

Vivian Quinn suddenly came to her senses and looked down at their intertwined hands. "Hey, you can let go of me now."

Only then did Jett Sterling release her hand. "You just said I was your true love," he stated.

"...That was obviously to provoke Austin Grant. Couldn’t you tell?"

"So I’m just a tool you grabbed to provoke another man?" A dangerous glint flashed in the man’s eyes. "Vivian Quinn, you’ve got a death wish, hmm?"

Vivian Quinn swallowed nervously and quickly changed the subject. "Why are the people from The Platinum Hall so protective of you?"

"I just happen to know them," Jett Sterling said dismissively.

"Is that so?" Vivian Quinn looked at him skeptically. ’Somehow I feel it’s not that simple.’

"Now is not the time to be investigating that question." The man’s gaze suddenly turned dangerous. "My dear wife, shouldn’t we be investigating just how I’m superior to your ex-fiancé, both in and out of bed?"

Vivian Quinn’s face instantly flushed crimson all the way to her ears. "I was just saying that on purpose! You can’t take it seriously!"

"Everyone else can take it seriously, so why can’t I, the person involved?" The corners of the man’s lips curved into a wicked smile. "Besides, you were speaking the truth."

Vivian Quinn: "..."

Thinking of that night, Vivian Quinn’s face turned so red it looked like it could bleed. "I’m hungry."

"I’ll take you to get something to eat."

"Okay."

The two of them took the elevator to the underground parking garage. The moment they stepped out, Jett Sterling sensed something was wrong. "Vivian, wait."

Vivian Quinn stopped. "What’s wrong?"

"It’s an ambush."

"Huh?" Vivian Quinn looked around. "I don’t see anything."

But in the time it took Jett Sterling to pull out his phone, a dozen or so masked men rushed out from the surrounding corners and closed in on them.

Jett Sterling immediately pulled Vivian Quinn behind him. "Get in the elevator!"

"We’ll go together!" Vivian Quinn pressed the elevator button, but the car was ascending and they couldn’t get in.

The group had already surrounded them, each man holding a club.

The leader spoke arrogantly, "A cripple and a gimp, and you dare to be so audacious? Today, we’ll show you the consequences of offending someone you shouldn’t have!"

The moment he finished speaking, a club came smashing down toward Jett Sterling’s head.

Jett Sterling raised an arm, blocked the club, and swiftly snatched it away.

Seeing this, the others swarmed in to attack.

Vivian Quinn tried to help, but Jett Sterling kept her tightly protected between his wheelchair and the elevator doors.

"Master Sterling!" Easton Rivers rushed over with several bodyguards in black, engaging their opponents in a brawl. The attention of their attackers was finally diverted.

"Jett Sterling, are you okay?" Vivian Quinn anxiously checked Jett Sterling for injuries. She had seen him take several hits just now!

"I’m fine." Jett Sterling tossed the club aside, his right hand gripping his left arm as his brows furrowed tightly.

"Is your arm hurt? Let me see!"

Jett Sterling was about to speak when, out of the corner of his eye, he saw a man charging at them with a club, his target Vivian Quinn!

In a split second, Jett Sterling spun his wheelchair around, pulling Vivian Quinn into his arms to shield her!

Vivian Quinn felt the world spin. Before she could even process what had happened, she heard a muffled grunt.

"Master Sterling!"

Easton Rivers rushed over and subdued the man who had launched the sneak attack.

Vivian Quinn realized what had just happened, and her face turned pale with fright. "Jett Sterling, are you okay?"

"I’m fine."

The words had barely left his lips when blood began to trickle down from his forehead, dripping onto Vivian Quinn one drop at a time.

"Jett Sterling, you’re hurt!" Vivian Quinn cried out. "Easton, call an ambulance, quickly!"

...

By the time Jett Sterling was brought to the hospital, he had already lost consciousness.

Vivian Quinn paced anxiously outside the emergency room, her heart twisted in a tight knot.

"Madam, please have a seat. Master Sterling will be all right," Easton Rivers said respectfully.

"It’s a head injury. It could be serious." A cold glint flashed in Vivian Quinn’s eyes. "Did you call the police? I suspect the Grant family was behind this."

"I haven’t, but I will investigate this matter thoroughly. Please rest assured, Madam."

After about an hour, the doors to the emergency room finally opened.

Vivian Quinn rushed forward. "How is he?"

"He has eight stitches on his head and a minor concussion. He’ll need to be hospitalized for observation."

"Okay, thank you, doctor."

When Jett Sterling was moved to a VIP room, he was still unconscious.

Easton Rivers stepped forward. "Madam, I’ll have the bodyguards take you home to rest. I can keep watch here."

"No, that’s alright. I’ll stay here. You go get some rest."

"Very well, then. I’ll be right outside. Please call me if you need anything."

"Okay."

Vivian Quinn went to get some hot water and began to wipe Jett Sterling’s face with a towel.

The man’s face was as sinfully handsome as a demon’s, enough to topple nations. Unconscious now, he lacked his usual intimidating presence, making him seem all the more captivating.

Vivian Quinn recalled the moment he had unhesitatingly shielded her, taking the blow from the club in her place. A mist began to well up in her eyes.

Ever since she was brought back to Aethelgard, no one had ever protected her like this.

Silas Quinn and Yvonne Lawrence only ever loved Rachel Quinn. Austin Grant had been utterly insincere with her; she was always the one giving in the relationship.

As if drawn by some invisible force, Vivian Quinn involuntarily leaned down and pressed her lips against the man’s.

The next second, the man who was supposed to be unconscious suddenly opened his eyes...
