Wedding Night: My Disabled Husband Made Me Cry-Chapter 17: You’re the Only One I Love
The crowd was speechless.
Jett Sterling hadn’t expected such a reaction from her either, and his body went rigid.
After the kiss, Vivian Quinn’s lips curled into a smirk as she shot a provocative look at Austin Grant.
"That’s right. I’m making it official today: this is my man. Are you the only one allowed to carry on a secret affair with Rachel Quinn? Am I not allowed to find true love?"
"Let me tell you something, Austin Grant. My man may be in a wheelchair, but whether it’s in bed or out, he’s a thousand times better than you. I would rather marry him than ever marry you!"
The crowd was speechless.
Austin Grant had always cultivated an image of a refined gentleman, a modest and noble scion in the eyes of the public. But right now, Vivian Quinn’s words had made his face turn livid with rage.
He was born proud. He was the one who did the dumping, not the other way around. When had it ever been Vivian Quinn’s place to look down on him?
And in front of all these people!
’And all that talk about "in bed and out of it," as if he’d ever even slept with her! A woman like that... he wouldn’t be interested even if she were stark naked!’
’In all these years, he’d never even kissed her!’
But to everyone else, her words had a very different implication. Anyone who didn’t know better would think he was useless in bed!
Austin Grant wanted to kill someone!
Rachel Quinn stepped forward. "Vivian, I can’t believe you’d do something so shameless. You have no sense of propriety!"
Jett Sterling started to speak, but Vivian Quinn stopped him. "Don’t say a word. Let me handle this myself."
The man nodded. "Alright."
Vivian Quinn rose from his lap and faced Rachel Quinn with a cold smirk. "Rachel Quinn, are you sure I’m the one without propriety? You should really think before you speak. After all, having your words thrown back in your face hurts."
Rachel Quinn suppressed the flicker of panic in her eyes and spoke with a sorrowful expression. "Vivian, I’m sure you’re just confused right now. I’m begging you as your older sister, please stop making a scene. If you keep this up, you’ll only bring shame upon the Quinn Family. Mom and Dad may be abroad, but they’re so worried about you. Please, won’t you stop making them sad?"
"Rachel is so considerate. She’s so mature, it breaks your heart."
"A well-bred young lady like her is the only one worthy of being the Young Madam of the Grant Family. Vivian Quinn is utterly shameless."
Austin Grant was even more moved. He squeezed Rachel Quinn’s hand, and they exchanged a look filled with affection. A thousand words were said in that silent glance.
In comparison, Vivian Quinn looked like a buffoon, jumping up and down for attention—pathetic and detestable.
"Vivian, sit here." Rachel Quinn led Vivian Quinn to a seat in the front row. She lowered her voice so only the two of them could hear. "Sit right here and watch Austin and me get engaged. The man you love is mine now."
"Everything that is yours will be mine. I’m going to take everything you care about, piece by piece, until you’re nothing but a pathetic stray with nothing to your name..."
A mocking smile touched Vivian Quinn’s lips. "Fine by me."
Rachel Quinn was stunned.
’Knowing Vivian Quinn’s personality, she should have slapped me hard across the face.’
’Then I could have fallen dramatically, and everyone would have despised Vivian even more.’
’But she didn’t react at all.’
Rachel Quinn found her reaction strange, but before she could dwell on it, the engagement party resumed.
Jett Sterling wheeled himself over to Vivian Quinn’s side and asked in a low voice, "Has Mrs. Sterling made all her preparations?"
"That’s right. I’m going to make that despicable pair regret the day they were born!"
The man chuckled softly. "Good. Do whatever you need to do. If anything goes wrong, I’ll cover for you."
"I’ll be fine. What can they possibly do to me in public? You should head back first."
Jett Sterling looked at her earnestly. "Vivian, don’t underestimate human depravity. The Grant Family is not to be trifled with."
Vivian Quinn knew that, of course. "All the more reason for you to leave, then. If something happens, I’ll have to worry about protecting you, too."
Jett Sterling’s lips curved into a faint smile. "I’m touched that Miss Quinn’s first instinct is to protect me."
Vivian Quinn was speechless.
"My first instinct was that you’d hold me back. So get going!"
"You don’t have to use reverse psychology. I’m not leaving your side."
Vivian Quinn was speechless.
A video call appeared on the projector onstage, revealing the faces of Silas Quinn and Yvonne Lawrence.
"Our darling Rachel, Mom and Dad couldn’t make it back in time for your engagement party, but we wanted to wish you all the happiness," Yvonne Lawrence said with a doting smile. "Mom got you a fifty-million-dollar diamond bracelet as a gift. Did you receive it?"
Rachel Quinn stroked the diamond bracelet on her wrist and shot a triumphant glance at Vivian Quinn before saying sweetly, "I did. Thank you, Mom."
"You’re my precious daughter. You don’t need to thank me."
"Rachel, you’re your father’s pride, too." Silas Quinn was a stern, unsmiling man, but his face was filled with pride. "I am officially announcing that starting today, you will be the Vice President of the Quinn Group. You must learn well so you can help me carry the load in the future."
Rachel Quinn covered her mouth in shock. "Dad, but I’m still in school..."
"I’ve seen what you’re capable of. You can handle the responsibility, which is why I want to start training you properly."
Rachel Quinn promised solemnly, "Dad, I won’t let you down."
"Looks like President Quinn is preparing for Rachel Quinn to inherit the family business."
"It really seems so. Rachel Quinn is truly blessed."
"But she’s not the Quinn family’s biological daughter, is she..."
"Shh, keep your voice down. So what if she’s not their biological child? Just look at the one who is. Can she even be shown in public? It’s no wonder they favor Rachel Quinn."
"Vivian Quinn still has the gall to sit there. If I were her, I’d have found a hole to crawl into and hide."
Vivian Quinn just smiled serenely and started playing on her phone.
The video call ended. Just as the party was about to move on to the next event, a new video suddenly flashed onto the screen.
Before anyone could react, a sound that would make one’s heart pound and face flush filled the room...
On the screen, Rachel Quinn was holding a phone while kissing Austin Grant. Their kiss was passionate and unrestrained, looking as if things would escalate at any moment.
"Ah! Austin, be gentle... Mmph..."
"What’s there to be afraid of, Rachel?" Austin Grant asked breathlessly.
"We’re recording proof of our love," Rachel Quinn said with a flirtatious giggle. "Austin, Vivian injured her leg and ruined her face to save you. She looks so pathetic lying in that hospital bed. You won’t start feeling sorry for her and fall in love, will you?"
"What is this!" Austin Grant, who was still on stage, finally reacted and roared, "Shut it off! Shut it off now!"
The staff rushed to shut it down, but the projector seemed to be malfunctioning. It wouldn’t turn off!
"No," the Austin in the video replied to Rachel Quinn with conviction. "The one I love is you. I’m only humoring her because of my grandfather. The doctor said her leg injury is so severe she’ll probably have a limp. Her face is badly wounded too, and will most likely scar. There’s no way I could marry her now."
Rachel Quinn snuggled into his arms, her voice syrupy sweet. "But she did get hurt like this for you. I’m just afraid you might have a change of heart..."
"I will never go soft on Vivian Quinn. You’re the only one I love."
Unable to wait, Rachel Quinn offered up her lips again. They kissed with a passion that set the world on fire. The phone even dropped to the floor, but the intimate sounds of their kissing continued unabated...
