Chapter 104: Chapter 104: Vivian, I Miss You

Vivian Quinn rolled her eyes.

Ian Sterling said in a grave tone, "Vivian Quinn, don’t say I didn’t warn you. You’re part of the Sterling Family now. If you dare do anything to betray my uncle, the consequences will be dire. He’ll make you disappear without a trace!"

Vivian Quinn was speechless. ’???’

Too lazy to deal with him, she simply lay down to sleep.

Ian Sterling got agitated. "Hey, I’m talking to you! Are you avoiding the question because you have something to hide? You better explain yourself. I don’t want to be the one dealing with your corpse!"

"Will you ever shut up?" Vivian Quinn covered her ears. "Am I that kind of person? Stop making wild assumptions!"

Ian Sterling looked skeptical. "I hope you mean what you say. Otherwise, not even I will be able to save you."

...

Mason Landon taught one class in the morning and another in the afternoon. The moment his afternoon class ended, he was surrounded by female students.

"Mr. Landon, will you be here again tomorrow?"

"Mr. Landon, there were a few things I didn’t understand. Could I ask you about them privately?"

"Mr. Landon, can I add your WeChat?"

Mason Landon gave a warm smile, then suddenly called out to the person heading for the door. "Vivian Quinn."

Vivian Quinn stopped and turned to look at him. "What is it?"

"From now on, you’re my teaching assistant," Mason Landon announced. "If any of you have questions, just go find Quinn."

Vivian Quinn was speechless.

She could already feel a thousand daggers in the glares shooting her way. It was as if every single one of them wanted to eat her alive.

Vivian Quinn collected herself and said, "I’m sorry, Mr. Landon, but I don’t have the time or the qualifications to be your TA. You should find someone else."

Several girls immediately volunteered. "I can do it! I can!"

Vivian Quinn seized the opportunity to slip away.

Just as she reached the school gates, Mason Landon’s voice called from behind. "Vivian."

Vivian Quinn stopped in her tracks again and turned to face him. "Is there something else?"

"Let me give you a ride."

"That’s okay. Jett Sterling is coming to pick me up."

Mason Landon looked at her with an enigmatic smile. "Are you sure about that?"

Vivian Quinn frowned. "Why wouldn’t I be?"

"It’s nothing. I just noticed you didn’t get a call from him."

Vivian Quinn walked out of the school gates and scanned the area, but she didn’t see Jett Sterling’s car.

’Could Jett Sterling be having another episode?’ she couldn’t help but worry.

Vivian Quinn quickly pulled out her phone and called Jett Sterling, but the call went unanswered, making her even more worried.

Mason Landon spoke up. "Why don’t I give you a ride? It’s a good opportunity to talk about his condition."

"No, thank you. I’ll just get a cab."

"Vivian, must you be this way?" Mason Landon smiled. "If you’ve done nothing wrong, you have nothing to fear. If he’s really that small-minded, why are you even bothering to treat his illness?"

"Those are two separate things. But thank you, anyway."

With that, Vivian Quinn hailed a cab from the roadside and headed straight back to Sycamore Bay.

"Ma’am, you’re back!" Nanny Jenner came over to greet her with a smile. "What would you like for dinner? I’ll have the kitchen start preparing."

"Where’s Jett Sterling?"

"The Young Master is in the tea room."

"He didn’t have an episode, did he?"

"No, not at all."

"That’s good."

Vivian Quinn let out a sigh of relief. Just as she was about to head upstairs, the door to the tea room suddenly opened, and Jett Sterling emerged in his wheelchair.

"You’re back?"

"Mhm." Vivian Quinn walked over to him. "Why didn’t you answer your phone? I was worried you’d had another episode. I was anxious the whole ride back."

"I was on a video call with a friend, so I couldn’t pick up. I’m sorry I made you worry."

Vivian Quinn’s heart sank, but she quickly forced a smile. "As long as you’re okay. I’m just going to go upstairs and change."

"Okay."

After dinner, Vivian Quinn had wanted to go for a walk with Jett Sterling, but he left the house as soon as he finished eating.

Vivian Quinn went for a walk in the garden by herself for over half an hour. When she returned to her room, she took a shower, then sat on the bed with her laptop to research Jett Sterling’s condition.

The illness was so difficult that it couldn’t be treated with medication, which was a major headache for her.

Vivian Quinn was yawning from exhaustion when she finally noticed it was already past eleven o’clock.

She closed her laptop and pulled out her phone to call Jett Sterling.

"Vivian?" Jett Sterling answered almost immediately.

"It’s getting late. Aren’t you coming home yet?"

"I’m tied up over here."

Vivian Quinn could hear a lot of noise in the background. "Are you drinking?" she asked.

"Yes." 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺

"You know your body can’t handle much alcohol. Plus, you need to maintain a very healthy routine. You should come home and get some rest, if you can."

"I know. You go ahead and sleep. I really can’t get away right now."

"Alright, then."

Vivian Quinn was so exhausted that she fell asleep the moment her head hit the pillow.

In a sleepy haze, she heard the sound of the door opening. Her eyes flew open, and she saw the man lock the door from the inside and then stand up from his wheelchair.

"You’re back?" Vivian Quinn yawned, glancing at her phone. It was nearly three in the morning.

"Did I wake you?" Jett Sterling pinched the bridge of his nose. "Go back to sleep. I’m going to take a shower."

Even from a distance, Vivian Quinn could smell the strong scent of alcohol on him. She got out of bed and walked toward him. "Why did you drink so much? Are you alright?"

"I’m fine." Jett Sterling stroked her hair. "Go back to sleep."

"I’ll go downstairs and make you some honey water. It’ll help with the hangover."

Just as Vivian Quinn turned to go downstairs, her wrist was seized by a long, powerful hand.

The man’s drunken eyes fixed on her face. "Mrs. Sterling, if you don’t feel like sleeping, we could be doing something... more meaningful."

"What kind of meaningful thing... Mmph—"

Before Vivian Quinn could finish, the man suddenly lowered his head and crushed his lips against hers.

Vivian Quinn’s eyes flew wide open, her mind going completely blank. For a moment, she forgot how to react.

By the time she snapped out of it, Jett Sterling had already swept her up into his arms and laid her on the bed.

The man leaned over her, his kiss deepening and growing more insistent.

Vivian Quinn finally jolted to her senses, her body trembling violently as she instinctively tried to push him away. "Jett Sterling, no! You’re drunk... Jett Sterling, let go of me! Jett Sterling, let go!"

The man paid no heed to her struggles. In fact, her frantic movements only seemed to excite him more. He grabbed her wrists, pinning them above her head as his lips moved to her neck.

"Vivian, I’ve missed you..."

The man’s deep voice echoed in Vivian Quinn’s ear, but she felt no trace of romance—only the suffocating sensation of despair, crashing over her like a tidal wave.

"AH—!" Vivian Quinn’s whole body went rigid, and she began to tremble uncontrollably, struggling with renewed vigor. "Jett Sterling, let me go! Jett Sterling!"

The difference in strength between them was too great; Vivian Quinn couldn’t push him off at all. In a panic, she could only lift her leg and slam her knee into him with all her might.

The man grunted in pain and finally let her go, rolling to the side. His handsome face was contorted in agony.

Still reeling from the shock, Vivian Quinn frantically pulled the blanket up to cover her torn clothes, staring at him in terror like a startled deer.

The master bedroom fell into a dead silence, so quiet you could hear both of them breathing.
