Chapter 214: Ball

Lin Lu was taken upstairs to Lu Wen’s room.

The hood had been removed from her head and she was staring ferociously at Lu Wen.

Lu Wen was smoking a cigar and sipping wine. The wine cooler released a subtle aroma that was unmistakable.

Lin Lu was terrified of Lu Wen and dared not meet his gaze.

Lu Wen set down the wine glass in his hand and said coldly, “Is it done?”

“I couldn’t…Sorry to break it to you, but Luo Ying is just too incredible. She was able to recognize my ruses for what they were. How could she see right through such a delicate mechanism?”

“We have to get rid of her!” Lin Lu stomped her feet and pounded her chest as she proclaimed.

The back of her hand was suddenly stomped on.

Startled, Lin Lu raised her eyes to Lu Wen. Asking, “Lu Wen, why did you…”

“I have zero empathy for scum in this city. Make your choice.” Lin Lu tossed a dagger to Lu Wen. “Take this tomorrow, and use it to kill Lu Zhao.”

Lin Lu’s expression changed as if she had just heard the unthinkable.

This whole assassination of Lu Zhao thing was as good as a fantasy.

Martial arts were not foreign to Lu Zhao, and neither were the privileged company he kept. I don’t see how she could approach Lu Zhao.

“There will be a lot of people the day after tomorrow. It might be very chaotic at the scene. Isn’t that an opportunity?” Lu Wen cast a wan smile in Lin Lu’s direction.

Lin Lu failed to suppress a shudder.

“What are you waiting for? Why don’t you just go jump in the ocean already? I don’t keep useless deadweights by my side.” Lu Wen leaned back in his chair after he finished talking and looked at Lin Lu calmly, with a hint of mockery in his eyes.

His stare made Lin Lu extremely uneasy. “Alright, but after this is over, you promised me the Lin Group shares.”

“No sweat.” The empty wine glass was set down.

“Deal.” Lin Lu studied the dagger intently and cackled savagely.

Luo Ying and Jin Shi spent the next few days on the cruise ship experiencing everything as if they were merely onlookers.

Luo Ying received an unexpected dinner invitation from Lu Wen the day before the cruise ship docked in the city.

Luo Ying did not say no.

Atop the floating hotel, they enjoyed a fine dining experience.

Lu Wen wore a black top under a blue denim shirt. He appeared to be a typical college freshman. Luo Ying might have mistaken him for a little white flower if not for the sneaky light in his eyes.

“Why are you looking for me?” Luo Ying went straight to the point.

“I went out of my way to track down an expert in local cuisine. The Lu Family’s executive chef said you seemed to like the meals. Want to give them a shot?”

Lu Wen flashed a charming grin, but behind those snake-like eyes was venom as sharp as a dagger.

“The Lu Family’s cooking is far superior to anything here. They were all frozen. The food on a cruise ship can’t possibly be fresh, right?” Luo Ying played with the food on her plate while asking, “Tell me, what is it?”

“I guess I can’t fool my sister-in-law after all.” Smiling, Lu Wen shrugged. “Or should I say, ex-sister-in-law?”

“What does it have to do with you whether Lu Zhao and I get a divorce or not? I’m leaving if there’s nothing else,” Luo Ying said. “I still need to make another trip. ”

Luo Ying got to her feet and prepared to leave. She had never met anyone so devoid of morals.

“Let’s make a deal, shall we? If you marry me, I’ll be happy to assist you in keeping Lu Zhao safe.”

Luo Ying sneered. She turned her head and held on to the back of the chair. Word for word, she exclaimed, “Lu Wen, are you crazy?”

“Lu Zhao is fine now. Does he need any protection?”

After hearing this, Lu Wen couldn’t help but let out a hearty chuckle.

“It’s still not clear to you, Luo Ying, is it? He has already been poisoned. There is now a ticking poison bomb inside of him. If I give him another dose of this poison, he’ll die quickly.”

As a means of self-soothing, Luo Ying clenched her fists. “Do I have to take your word for everything? Perhaps a remedy exists for this poison.” Luo Ying may have thrown those words out, but she still felt some unease.

What should she do if Lu Zhao has been poisoned?
