Water Mage in the Flame Realm-Chapter 343 - 331: Andrew and President Beiru (Part 2)
Andrew noticed that President Beiru’s steps were steady, but his breathing was slightly rapid.
It seemed like he arrived in a hurry.
In fact, that was indeed the case—
Not long ago, after Andrew was captured in the Royal Court, President Beiru immediately led people to pursue.
And then... they indeed went in the wrong direction.
President Beiru thought that Catherine might not act according to common sense and that it was likely she wouldn’t simply keep fleeing west. He even considered the possibility of "Catherine running back to Warm Fire City to heal in reverse" and thus sent people to block the west, south, and even east directions.
But he overlooked the north.
In President Beiru’s view, the northern part of the Royal Court is a vast uninhabited area. If someone kept heading deeper, it might further aggravate the injury on Catherine’s severed arm, so he judged she would never run north.
Who would have thought that deep within the northern snow mountains, there would be a teleportation gate leading to the Outer Battlefield?
Until... just now when Andrew tried to use "Water and Fire United" to contact Barbara.
Andrew himself thought that attempt was a failure, blocked by the teleportation gate’s shielding power.
But in reality, when Andrew tried to contact, Barbara did sense it. Though it was just for a moment, Barbara sensed Andrew’s presence again and immediately relayed the location and distance to President Beiru through the "Fire Net".
When President Beiru received the news, he had already chased from the Royal Court to a frontier stronghold on the western edge of the Magic Guild’s territory! After a brief pause upon hearing that Andrew was in the north of the Royal Court, he hurriedly turned back.
This led to the current scene of President Beiru parting the snow curtain, walking steadily but with slightly rapid breathing.
"Guild President, you came!"
Andrew was both surprised and excited for a moment.
As a result of being too excited, his hand shook, and the "Long-range Water Needle" originally in his grasp slipped and flew out.
This "Water Needle" was initially intended by Andrew as a means to break through the teleportation gate.
At this moment, it lost control, and without bias, it directly stabbed at a node of the teleportation gate.
In that instant, Andrew only felt as if his scalp was about to explode.
He saw that not only was the teleportation gate undamaged by his water needle, but it easily "swallowed" the power of the water needle and then abruptly sent a formidable counterforce directly in front of Andrew’s eyes!
"Damn!" Andrew wished he could slap himself, "What was I thinking, trying to break this teleportation gate? This teleportation gate was originally used by the Water Mages as an escape route. Obviously, it would strongly counter any attack to ensure smooth teleportation."
The aura of death instantly shrouded Andrew.
A thought flashed through Andrew’s mind: "Could it be that as the successor of the Water God, I’m going to die under the automatic counterforce of a teleportation gate left by Water Mages? If that’s the case, it would be too absurd, and mainly, too humiliating!"
The "Water God Mark" on his forehead quietly lit up, as if some power wanted to burst out from it to dispel the force facing Andrew that he absolutely couldn’t resolve on his own.
However, just as the "Water God Mark" lit up, it calmed down again.
The next moment, a palm formed of flames materialized in front of Andrew, standing like a shield and blocking that strike for Andrew!
"Phew, that was close." Andrew breathed a sigh of relief and looked at President Beiru, "Thank you!"
It was President Beiru outside the teleportation gate who acted in the nick of time to save him.
However, despite President Beiru’s strength, trying to infiltrate force through the teleportation gate seemed not easy.
After the flame hand saved Andrew, it couldn’t sustain for long and was dissolved by the teleportation gate as an "intruder". 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮
Andrew closely witnessed this scene and confirmed a fact in his heart: "I must go to the Outer Battlefield. I can’t break out, and President Beiru’s power cannot get in. The teleportation gate, after all these years, is still an unstoppable force..."
Having finally accepted this fact, Andrew was no longer as resistant or helpless about heading to the Outer Battlefield immediately.
Because President Beiru had arrived, and the teleportation gate should take a little more time before fully activating and sending him away.
"Then... let’s make the most of this time, communicate and discuss well with President Beiru, and then head to that Outer Battlefield without worries!" Andrew thought.
"Are you okay?" President Beiru’s voice came from outside the teleportation gate, "You’re not hurt, right?" The voice was somewhat intermittent, proving that even transmitting sound wasn’t easy.
"I’m fine, I’m fine, it was reckless of me. I shouldn’t have attacked the teleportation gate. I wasn’t keen to rush to the Outer Battlefield earlier." Since Andrew’s voice couldn’t reach out, he expressed by gesturing and mouthing.
President Beiru’s expression changed: "So this teleportation gate indeed leads to the Outer Battlefield?"
Upon arrival, observing the teleportation gate and especially sensing the aura coming from its other end, he guessed where this gate led to.
That’s why he said to Andrew to "go ahead if you wish".
However, even President Beiru wasn’t fully aware of the Outer Battlefield. Though he had conducted investigations over the years, he couldn’t be entirely sure.
Andrew nodded: "Yes, beyond this teleportation gate should be the Outer Battlefield, for sure."
He quickly and concisely recounted, using mouth movements, how Catherine brought him here planning to go through the teleportation gate to the Outer Battlefield, and then proceed to the Magic Guild from there.
Snow enveloped the teleportation gate.
The teleportation gate flickered, ready to activate at any moment.
Andrew and President Beiru, separated by the gate’s light, communicated. Though it was inconvenient, they shared an inexplicable understanding at that moment.
This was because, through the Royal Court negotiations that had passed, President Beiru had fully recognized and trusted Andrew. He had been tracking the situation at the Royal Court and knew everything Andrew did during the negotiations, contributing significantly. Initially, President Beiru planned to have a good conversation with Andrew after subduing Catherine in the Royal Court. He was going to personally apologize to Andrew again regarding the Dragon Awakening Potion.
Andrew, in fact, was no longer bothered by the previous unpleasantness on the airship. From his perspective, President Beiru had known about his identity as the Water God’s successor for a long time and had therefore given him various privileges—this was what really mattered!
"In short, Catherine never planned to run west from the start. Her aim was to go through the Outer Battlefield and detour to the Magic Guild." Having said that, Andrew swallowed, feeling the exhaustion from such communication. Fortunately, President Beiru seemed to have "listened" to his words based on his expression.
"I see." President Beiru indeed understood, but his brows gradually furrowed, "So she has already entered this teleportation gate, heading to the Outer Battlefield, hasn’t she?"
He looked around, unable to trace Catherine anymore.
