Water Mage in the Flame Realm-Chapter 308 - 298: Ring of Uranus
Hearing Catherine speak in support of his side, Andrew pondered for a moment and then silently activated his power, transforming it into invisible magical tendrils that wrapped around Catherine’s body.
Just like he did during the negotiation yesterday, assisting Catherine and putting pressure on the king.
The situation in the Royal Court was peculiar with hints of complexity.
Andrew’s thoughts at this moment, however, became simpler: "If Her Highness Catherine really has any issues, it shouldn’t be easily displayed by showing vigilance towards her, and I still don’t believe anything could be wrong with Barbara’s second sister."
Before coming to this Flame Realm, Andrew believed in one saying: "Power itself is neither good nor evil, the distinction lies in the person who uses it."
After arriving in this world, Andrew found: At least in this world, power itself also has good and evil.
As the Water Magic Lord and the possessor of the "Water God Mark," he felt an intense affinity from the three Strange Fires, "Orange Flame Warm Fire," "Pure White Flame," and "Formless Blade Fire." In essence, it was a form of "benevolence" which was extremely scarce in this Flame Realm.
Andrew still did not understand why Her Highness Catherine, as a Warrior and a Crimson Knight, possessed the "Formless Blade Fire" which normally only Warm Fire Mages could possess.
He only knew that if the possessor of a "Formless Blade Fire" could have issues, he really wouldn’t know who to trust in this Flame Realm.
Only to hear the king say blandly, "If the Queen feels Andrew’s lateness doesn’t affect anything, then... so be it. I won’t necessarily disallow Andrew from participating in the upcoming third negotiation trial." The Flame Turtle was taken aback by this statement, then became anxious inside.
Andrew and Barbara exchanged glances, both finding it odd: Why did the king’s attitude suddenly soften?
Following this, Sabye suddenly let out an exclamation.
Originally standing alongside Andrew and Barbara, Sabye’s robust figure suddenly lifted uncontrollably, as if propelled by an irresistible force that "squeezed" him out of the venue, and when he landed again, he was beside Dean Charlie and Havier, who were outside the venue.
Havier reached out to support the staggered Sabye.
Sabye was dazed, casting a somewhat surprised glance at Havier.
But noticed both Havier and Dean Charlie wore solemn expressions as they looked at the scene—
After Sabye was squeezed out, only Barbara, Andrew, and the adversaries Capella and Yorkshire remained in the venue.
Above the four, a silver-white ice crystal ring quietly materialized in the sky.
The ring hovered mid-air in the hall, rotating slowly, yet it was indistinct whether it spun clockwise or counterclockwise. The more you tried to discern, the more dizzying it felt, as if your entire spirit was being sucked into the revolving ring!
"That is... the ’Ring of Uranus’!" Dean Charlie said solemnly, in a low voice.
You could see the "Eternal Frost Ice Pattern" on the king’s left arm had somehow detached from his body and transformed into the ice crystal ring named "Ring of Uranus," brimming with ancient and magical aura, hovering in the hall’s mid-air.
It was that ring’s power that squeezed Sabye out of the venue.
After pushing Sabye aside, the seemingly directional or reversely sustained rotation generated an invisible force that "framed" the four young ones remaining in the venue.
While isolating all external interfering forces, it also limited the area of activity of the four under the ice ring.
Just then, the king (the Female Assassin) continued, "Since the Queen says Andrew can participate in battle, I won’t object. However, the following battle shouldn’t leave the limits set by my power, okay?"
She spoke calmly, even somewhat courteously, but the true underlying meaning was: The subsequent battle would be a fight to the death, a war of life and death.
The Female Assassin ultimately had her own concerns, her greatest being not wanting to expose her identity.
Thus, despite having several instances of boiling anger almost driving her to attack Andrew directly, she eventually suppressed it.
Her current thought, simple like Andrew’s: "Turn the upcoming third negotiation trial into a more ruthless duel to the death, utilizing Capella and Yorkshire to eliminate this little brat named Andrew!"
Andrew utilized the power of the "Ice Prison Gemstone," barely suppressing the towering ice pillars surrounding the Royal Court, yet couldn’t exert any influence on the suspended "Ring of Uranus."
For the ice ring wasn’t the Royal Court’s array, but the king’s power.
This power, this means, didn’t resemble that of a Warrior much anymore, instead had a flavor of magic, much like the king waving his hand yesterday and condensing the swirling snow into an ice bridge.
We must know when the Female Assassin, with her Shield of Flowing Fire, stirred up the storm, although powerful unmatched, it nonetheless exuded a distinct aura and style of a Combat Class.
The king was another guise of hers, with a profession bearing the Titan Bloodline as a Frost Guard, attributes being Ice Element rather than Fire Element, and seeming stronger and a notch higher in realm than her Female Assassin side.
For when she acted in her guise and identity as the king, she increasingly didn’t resemble a Combat Class. And this was a major sign of surpassing War God Level, progressing into the "Realm of Magic."
All professionals, once reaching the Realm of Magic, the boundaries between "Combat Class" and "Magic Professions" start blurring.
Until the boundaries between Combat Class and Magic Professions completely merge into one, then they’re neither Combat Class nor Magic Professions, but — "Divine Professionals."
Dean Charlie shouted, "Negotiation trial is just a negotiation trial, why turn it into such a death duel format, what’s the reason?"
The Flame Turtle exclaimed loudly, "Why not? Your contestant was late but can compete, isn’t that enough? Or do you not have confidence in your members, fearing in a death battle, they will certainly lose, will die?!"
Dean Charlie paused, looking again at Catherine beside the king.
Seeing Catherine slightly frown, seemingly unable to say anything further this time.
"A death battle, is it..." In the venue, Andrew held Barbara’s hand, looking up at the dizzying ice ring, then turned to Barbara, who happened to look over, both locking eyes, suddenly, smiling simultaneously.
"Afraid? A death battle." Barbara blinked at Andrew, smiling while asking.
"Not really fear, but a bit tense it is." Andrew honestly said, "But... it was bound to be like this, or rather, it should have been like this long ago, right?"
Making this trip to the Royal Court for the negotiation trial, Andrew knew early on that he was to team up with Barbara against the Saint Son and Saintess of the Magic Guild.
Now finally facing off, it was exactly as expected upon coming here.
However, the process to reach this point has strayed completely from initial expectations.
Fortunately, regardless, it ultimately led to this moment.
The tension remained, but amidst the tension, there was an unique calm: "Madam Dragon Taming and the Magic Guild did all sorts of tricks, making this negotiation trial incredibly complex. But actually, before coming here I just wanted to win a simple two-on-two with Barbara, that’s it.
As for this unknown-what-to-call ice crystal ring, it actually doesn’t matter. Without it, wouldn’t the third battle still be a death battle?"
The older generation complicates matters endlessly, yet the youth think: just let us have an enjoyable fight!
Not only did Andrew and Barbara think this way, but Capella and Yorkshire beneath the "Ring of Uranus," also appeared to have similar thoughts.
Capella looked up, gazing at the ice crystal ring for a moment, then turned to Andrew, saying, "Seems that among the four of us, at most, only two can live and walk out of this ’Ring of Uranus’."
