Chapter 278: All predetermined

As I was still stunned by the appearance of the Great Sage Equal to Heaven, he was already moving towards the small flower that was being pressed into the ground.

The small flower tried to look up at it and plead for its life, but the Great Sage Equal to Heaven didn’t seem to care.

Once he had moved right beside the small flower, he said, "You’re the one that tried to steal the young master’s body? No...even before that, you’re the one that tried to touch my juniors? Did you think that this lower realm would be that easy to invade?"

The small flower trembled when it heard this and it did its best to shake its head.

It was just that its actions really differed in their tone.

In addition to denying this, there were roots that suddenly came out of the ground.

This was similar to what it had tried to do before with me, but...it chose the wrong target.

There wasn’t even a need for a golden barrier to appear.

The moment that the roots made contact with the golden figure, it was as if they started to disintegrate. They were turned into ashes as if they couldn’t handle the power of what they had just touched.

That was just how much of a power difference was between the two sides.

It didn’t end with just the roots being burnt, it went even beyond that.

The disintegration continued passing along the root and even went under the ground.

As it happened, the eyes of the flower suddenly opened wide in fear as if it could feel what was happening to it. It was just that while this was happening, the flower wasn’t able to move at all.

It looked up at the Great Sage Equal to Heaven in fear and a trace of pleading as if it was asking to be spared, but there was no sympathy from the Great Sage Equal to Heaven.

Though one couldn’t even see his face because he was covered in that golden glow in the first place.

The only thing that one could see was the golden figure looking down at the small flower as its face started to twist in pain.

Then starting from its roots, it seemed to be fading away.

It was as if it was disintegrating into ashes with the way that this phenomenon was spreading.

The face of the small flower was filled with fear and regret, but there was nothing that it could do as it was completely being suppressed by the pressure that was on it.

So up the stem and to the flower itself until it completely disappeared without a trace.

Just like that, the small flower disappeared from the world without me even doing anything.

Though this was a good thing, I couldn’t help feeling very strange about all of this.

After all, it seemed like this was all predetermined from the moment that I stepped into this Myriad Beast Valley.

It seemed like I had been guided by a certain someone, or rather a certain something to this situation.

Taking a deep breath, I thought, "Partner, how much of this did you already predict and prepare for me?"

The system didn’t say anything at first, but then it said, "This system only calculated that there was an invader, everything else was pure happenstance."

"Then you’re saying the monkey mountain was nothing more than a coincidence?"

"Correct. It was because partner chose to take out the peach that the little monkey chose to steal it."

"So you’re saying that you didn’t know that the monkey mountain was filled with the descendants of the Great Sage Equal to Heaven, right? You’re saying that this was all a coincidence?" The suspicion was heavy in my voice as I said this.

This time, the system didn’t respond.

But that was more than enough of an answer to my question.

Well, it seemed that there was a reason why the system did this, so it wasn’t as if I couldn’t accept this.

However, there was something that I had to confirm before that.

I walked up to the Great Sage Equal to Heaven and said, "Great Sage..."

"Young master, please don’t call me by that name." The golden figure suddenly said before turning around to wave his hand. With that wave of his hand, there was a golden bubble that suddenly appeared around the two of us.

Once that golden bubble was formed, the sounds around us suddenly cut out.

It was as if we had been isolated from the rest of the world with this golden bubble around us.

Only when the golden bubble formed did the golden figure say, "Please address me as the Sixth Guardian Lord."

I gave a nod before asking, "So there’s a reason why you abandoned your previous name."

The Sixth Guardian Lord gave a sigh before saying, "Please don’t dig deeper into this. It’s not the time for the young master to dig deeper into this."

I narrowed my eyes to look at him without saying a thing.

As I did, the Sixth Guardian Lord suddenly said, "Young master, please don’t blame the manager. It was only because of me that the manager did all of this."

"The manager?" I said in a confused voice before saying, "You mean the system?"

The Sixth Guardian Lord gave a nod as he said, "The manager knew my circumstances, which was why the manager did all this. It wasn’t the manager’s fault, the manager did it all for me."

I narrowed my eyes to look at the Sixth Guardian Lord again as he tried to explain the situation.

Eventually, he stopped as he waited to hear what I had to say.

"Are you being forced to act as part of the Golden Guards?" I suddenly asked when he stopped.

The Sixth Guardian Lord was surprised when he heard this and there was a complicated look that appeared in his eyes, but he eventually shook his head and said, "No, I’m not. I’m grateful for the opportunity that I’ve been given."

I just kept looking at him with narrowed eyes, but I eventually nodded and dropped this topic.
