There wasn’t much of a reaction from the Refining Crystal as I started refining it with the system’s method.
After all, the system’s method was not one that was flashy, but rather effective.

After watching me refine for a bit, no one really seemed that interested in me. From the outside, the refining method that I used seemed normal, so it wasn’t that interesting for them.

But there were others who seemed to take the attention from me, so people started turning away from me.
It all started when the first person finished their refining.
They only used half the time, but they knew that they wouldn’t be able to refine the Refining Crystal any more since they had completely run out of spiritual energy. So the only thing that they could do was take it out and hope that it was good enough.
It was too bad that it wasn’t.
When it came out, it was only violet in colour.
This was the lowest grade that it could be.
The one who had refined this violet crystal had a disappointed look on his face, but there was no one that was surprised by this performance.
After all, this was one of the people who were at the edge of the square.
This was one of those that were nothing more than cannon fodder, so it wasn’t as if there was any expectations of this person to perform well. It should even be said that they should be relieved that they had reached the violet stage in the first place.

Right after this first person finished, there were others that quickly followed them.

However, most of them were able to reach the violet stage.
There were even two of them that reached the indigo stage.

There were still two that didn’t finish though.

The two of them were still slowly refining at their stations, but they didn’t attract any attention since everyone’s attention was focused on the ones that were closer to the center of the square.
After those at the edge finished refining, there were some that were closer to the center that also finished.
Indigo and blue, that was all that they were able to reach.
It didn’t seem like any of them were able to reach the green stage like Shen Qing Feng, let alone the yellow stage.
"Ha, ha, ha, is that all your Shooting Star Sect is capable of?" Kong Jing laughed as he pulled his crystal out of his cauldron.
Green, he had actually reached the green stage.
The ones that he was referring to were the other senior brothers and senior sister who had only reached the blue stage. Senior Brother Hua was the only one who was still refining.
"Che, speak for yourself." Senior Brother Hua said before also pulling out a green crystal.
Kong Jing narrowed his eyes, but he didn’t respond to this.
These two had the best results out of the ones that had finished, but they were quickly suppressed by the ones that were in the middle.
Green and yellow Refining Stones quickly appeared from the cauldron of those near the center.
It seemed that most people that qualified reached the green and yellow stages.
However, there were still a few that were above that.
These were the ones that were right in the center of the square, the ones that were considered the true seeded contestants in this tournament.
They had been diligently refining the entire time without a care for what was happening around them.
They used most of the hour that they had and it was only at the end that they finally uncovered their cauldrons.
There were ten of them in total and all of them reached the yellow stage with orange specks at the very least.
There were two of them who reached the orange stage.
These two were Jun Xiao from the Taixu Sect, a first grade sect and Jiang Qing Yu from the Myriad Lily Sect, another first grade sect.
These two were considered top talents when it came to alchemy, but there was one that was above them.

Everyone was shocked when the crystal came out of the cauldron.
The one who refined it was Leng Tuo, the disciple of the Medicine King Sect’s sect master.
He was the one that was referred to as the Young Medicine King.
But while everyone was distracted by the commotion in the center, there were still people who were refining that everyone forgot about.
Wang Jian was the first to finish, taking out a crystal that was yellow with orange specks.
