Chapter 1400: Section 1401 Infant Spirits
In the pitch-black Void, a figure in a black robe suddenly appeared, as if spat out by some creature of the darkness, their body bathed in blood, floating in the Void.
It took quite a while before the black-robed figure regained some semblance of consciousness from his confusion.
“What kind of undead was that, to be so powerful…” His eyes were vacant as he recalled the recent encounter, feeling a chill down his spine.
A pang of pain shot through his right arm.
“Hiss—” the figure in the black robe gasped, and began unraveling his tattered cloak.
His face was covered with a strange copper gear mask, obscuring his features. His upper body was lean and lengthy, but now it was marred with various lacerations. Especially his right arm, from which a large chunk of flesh had been ripped away, exposing the bone underneath.
Most horrifically, the shattered bone was covered in a black fluidic substance that was rapidly eroding his right hand.
“It seems there’s no other way,” he said, looking at his nearly severed right arm and making a decision.
A flash of cold light swept past, and he cut off his right arm, casting it into the endless Void below.
Because of the presence of the black fluidic substance, his severed hand probably wouldn’t last long before being completely devoured; thus, he needn’t worry about his blood information being exposed even if discarded.
Looking at the empty space where his right arm used to be, he exhaled, a faint glow flickered in his eyes. Then, the broken bone started growing, the flesh moved like worms, covering the bone. In just half a minute, his right arm was restored.
However, compared to the previous arm, this newly grown one seemed thinner and paler.
“I’ll make do with this for now, and look for a way to transplant another arm when I get back,” the figure in the black robe… his cloak now gone, he should be referred to as ‘the man in the mask’ – he sighed.
“Let’s see what information I’ve got?” the man in the mask pondered for a moment as if recalling something.
After a while, he raised an eyebrow.
“Having just left there, I didn’t expect the information to point back to that place again; I do seem to have some fate with it.” The man in the mask thought: “Might as well take a look, and verify the information I’ve got.”
With that, the man in the mask glanced towards a certain point in the Void, and his body transformed into a streak of light, vanishing from sight.
…
Outside the Black Castle.
Even though there were a large number of Wizards on guard, Angel still faced dangers while clearing the undead.
For example, at this moment, Angel was caught in a perilous situation.
Out of the uneven black soil, a pale hand unexpectedly reached out.
The moment Angel saw the hand, his first thought was, “Such slender fingers, distinct joints; these are the hands of someone naturally suited to playing the piano. If Jon saw these hands, he’d probably consider training her as an artist… Although, first, those nails would need trimming.”
Before he could finish assessing the hand, its owner struggled and crawled out from underneath the ground.
Black hair cascading like a waterfall, veins bulging on the cheeks, malicious white eyes, and the gloomy aura swirling around her – all of which clearly revealed her identity.
This was an undead.
As she opened her mouth and let out an angry roar, Angel raised his gun and aimed it at her forehead.
As she turned into white smoke and charged towards Angel, the gun trembled, and with a buzzing sound, ripples emanated from the muzzle.
Ultimately, this female undead couldn’t escape her fate of dissipation.
However, at that moment, Angel heard a shout near his ear, “Watch your back!”
As the shout settled, Angel felt a chilling wind behind him. It was so close to his nape that it felt like someone was breathing gently onto his skin.
Someone was behind him!
And they were very, very close!
As he grasped this information, Angel’s scalp tingled. He had been constantly perceptive, so how had he failed to sense someone approaching?
Just as Angel was about to turn and check the situation, a familiar wave passed through his mind.
It was Sanders’ voice, transmitted through the Mind Ribbon.
“Don’t look back; behind you are two Infant Spirits. Though they won’t cause you much harm, if they see your face, it will get messy…” Sanders’ voice rushed through.
Although Sanders didn’t specify what trouble would follow, Angel dared not ignore his warning.
“You may not turn around, but you can use your spiritual power to observe them,” Sanders said.
As Angel was about to ask if he could use his spiritual power to see them, Sanders preemptively answered his question.
With his Spirit Tentacle detached, Angel could clearly see two infants clinging to each shoulder. However, these infants were in no way cute, their bodies pitch black, with only their eyes red as blood.
They were motionless, but their blood-red eyes just stared straightforward over his shoulders. If Angel turned his head, no matter which direction it was, they’d immediately be in their line of sight.
“Where did these two Infant Spirits come from? Why didn’t I feel their presence at all until they climbed onto Angel’s shoulders?” It was only then that he felt a chill in the air.
“They appeared when your attention was focused on their mother. And since you killed their mother, they would naturally cling to you.”
Sanders’s reply caused Angel to be stunned for a moment.
The slender-fingered female undead he had killed, was she the mother of these two Infant Spirits?
But Angel clearly remembered the Blood Bath Ceremony at Black Castle. Weren’t all the women pursued pure virgins? How could Infant Spirits be present? Could it be that there were men inside the Black Castle as well?
Seeing that Angel remained silent for a long time without continuing his climb to the mountain’s peak, Sanders looked over. From Angel’s complicated expression, he could roughly guess what Angel was thinking.
“Don’t let your imagination run wild. Black Castle has long since become a place where the yin energy of the undead swirls around, so attracting undead from other places is a normal phenomenon.”
There could be male undead, not just female ones.
As for these two Infant Spirits and that female undead, it’s not certain that they died in the Blood Bath Ceremony; they might have been Talented Ones from Black Castle. In a place like Black Castle, it’s possible for Talented Ones to die due to some accidents and degenerate into undead.”
The cold wind behind him made Angel feel uncomfortable. He stretched out a Phantom Limb, taking the Samsara Overture from his hand. The limb waved high, as the gun’s muzzle aimed at the two Infant Spirits from behind.
He planned to dispose of the two Infant Spirits first.
“Wait a minute.” Several voices reached Angel’s ears simultaneously.
Kimberly and other Wizards, whom Angel did not remember at all, used the Spell of Whispering on Angel at the same time.

They all expressed the same sentiment, “If you don’t want those two Infant Spirits, how about giving them to me?”
While Angel was still puzzled, the voice of Sanders came through the Mind Ribbon, “Although Infant Spirits aren’t Special Souls like Hua Que, they are very special and have a wide range of uses. However, if they hadn’t fallen, their value would be higher. Purely undead can only be made into Evil Spirit Puppets, or used to perform certain dark ceremonies.”
While Sanders was explaining, a chuckle suddenly intruded into the Mind Ribbon.
“I didn’t expect that there would still be Infant Spirits around Black Castle.” Angel recognized the speaker, it was Isabel: “Sanders is right, the value of Infant Spirits is high, and naturally-formed Infant Spirits are hard to come by, which makes them even more precious. If you don’t need them for yourself, you can give them to me, and I will pay you a corresponding price…”
Angel also noticed that Isabel seemed very eager to have the two Infant Spirits. Since others had already spoken up, she probably felt it would be awkward to express her desire outright.
But realizing that Sanders was communicating with her through the Mind Ribbon, she took the opportunity to relay her message to Angel through the same channel.
The Mind Ribbon set up by Sanders would be impenetrable unless he gave access—surely, they must have been covertly communicating before!
Angel naturally didn’t have any particular desire for the Infant Spirits, but…
“I can give them to Lady Isabel, but surely I can’t keep carrying them on my back, right?” Angel said helplessly.
“Just wait, I’ll help you take them down.”
As soon as the words fell, Angel heard the sound of the wind at his back and felt a trace of cool fragrance.
While the fragrance still lingered at his nostrils, Isabel’s voice came from behind, “There you go.”
Angel turned around and saw that the Infant Spirits on his back had indeed disappeared, and Isabel stood behind him with a smile, “The price to be paid will be discussed after we settle this matter.”
Having said that, Isabel flew back up to keep watch.
After Isabel took the Infant Spirits away, the other Wizards including Kimberly had no choice but to stand down.
“You are indeed lucky, trading with their own things in the main ground of Black Castle,” Sanders remarked, guessing they were probably furious by now.
No one could have imagined that such precious Infant Spirits would appear here, and two at once at that.
“You won’t lose out on this deal, and this is just the beginning.”
Angel: “The beginning? What do you mean by that?”
“Isabel’s situation is quite unique right now. Despite appearing calm just now, she is determined to have those two Infant Spirits.”
Angel coughed twice, “Mentor, you’re not afraid that Lady Isabel will hear you saying this?”
“She’s no longer in the Mind Ribbon,” Sanders explained, then he added, “Those two Infant Spirits have already fallen into undeath, and although they are still valuable, they’re not of much value to her. How will she turn undead back into spirits? Guess what her next move will be?”
The only way to turn undead back into spirits is one.
Samsara Overture!
Because of Isabel, the Samsara Overture made by Angel had become shrouded in mystery. She naturally wouldn’t brazenly compete for it, and moreover, with Sanders by his side, the chance of a successful snatch was not high.
Thus, she would probably still opt for trading with Angel to obtain the White Light Bullet of Samsara Overture.
This was what Sanders called—
“This deal is just the beginning.”
From his tone, it seemed he planned to trap Isabel thoroughly!
