Warhammer Divine Throne-Chapter 743 - 330, Belgar’s Predicament
This was Queen Komanik's idea; she suggested her husband use copper rings and coarse linen to attach the cut beard back to the original one. Belgar immediately complied, and at long last, it didn't look like he had trimmed his beard.
"Oh? That's doable." Rorrek nodded, "Not to mention, Breeze Castle is quite large, finding a place for your clan to stay shouldn't be a problem."
Seeing this, Belgar breathed a sigh of relief in his heart. He and his clan had finally found a kingdom willing to take them in, providing a temporary haven for the tried and tested clan.
After several rounds of drinks and a variety of dishes, the dwarves began to get drunk. Belgar drank his malt beer heavily, as if to forget the shame and pain of defeat. In a drunken stupor, he said, "Are there any new updates from those second-rate (humans) lately? I heard the Chaos from the north advanced south again, defeating them miserably."
"That's all in the past, time to turn the page." Rorrek hugged a whole barrel of malt beer and drank heartily, "You know, Belgar, my friend, on this side of the mountains there's been a formidable chap from the Knight Kingdom, named Laine Macado, Count of Glamorgan. He actually defeated the Divine Chosen Champion of Khorne, the King of Skalings 'Red Eye' Egil Steelbjorn, and killed him. Thanks to him, many of our Dwarf Kingdoms have erased several pages from our Book of Hatred!"
"Are there really such mighty warriors among humans?" Belgar stuffed some baked dwarf bread into his mouth and asked curiously, "I only knew Emperor Carl Franz to be an honest chap,
"Hey, Belgar, your viewpoint is outdated. Count Glamorgan is also an honest chap," a dwarf Long-bearded one immediately retorted, "A lot of dwarves work under him, and thanks to him, Breeze Castle earns quite a sum every year."
"Count Glamorgan Laine Macado? Could you elaborate? I've heard of his name; he's said to be a fierce fighter." Belgar touched his beard, "He reminds me of that most failed butcher, Gaucrux-Gonison."
Thus, Belgar learned from Rorrek all of Laine's experiences from start to finish.
Among the dwarves, there exists a special type of soldier known as the Dwarf Butcher. The Butcher symbolizes dwarf strength, and when a dwarf feels unbearable shame, he can choose to take the Butcher's vow and become a Dwarf Butcher.
A Dwarf Butcher shaves his beard and hair, dyes it a bright orange, tattoos his body, and travels far seeking revenge and redemption in battle, wishing for an honorable death.
Some Dwarf Butchers are so strong that they fail to find an honorable death, becoming what are known as "failed butchers," the strongest among dwarf butchers.
The most failed butcher is called Gaucrux-Gonison, a man wielding Grimnir's Axe (two of them, with the other in the hands of White Dwarf Grimm Bryndale), slicing his way from the Evil Land to the Chaos Wasteland, from the Dark Realm east of the World's Roof Mountain Range to Estalia at the far west of the Old World. All formidable foes fell before him, yet he never sought an honorable death, thus being crowned "the most failed Butcher."
At one point, Belgar considered taking a Butcher's vow if he couldn't reclaim Eight Peaks Mountain, but it wasn't yet time to give up. Belgar still had loyal followers, and though his clan was scattered, many were willing to help reclaim Eight Peaks Mountain; the situation wasn't yet irretrievable for Belgar.
Deep within Eight Peaks Mountain lie countless ancestral treasures. Though Belgar's incursion into the mountain wasn't long, he still unearthed a cache of treasures buried and sealed with rune stones by ancestors, valuing around five thousand gold coins—not much, but enough to temporarily stave off crisis.
Belgar has already sold this batch of treasures at Breeze Castle, raising funds for the military.
Deep within Eight Peaks Mountain, there are dozens more places where such treasures are buried. Additionally, if the Main Castle can be reclaimed, opening the Ancestor Holy Hall and Dwarf Vault deep within the mountain will reveal even more gold and silver ores, ancestral weapons, rune armor, and rare treasures. These have all been sealed by dwarves deep in the mountains. With the Greenskins' poor excavation and mining skills, there's no chance they could open these troves.
That's why Belgar is confident that, once they reclaim Eight Peaks Mountain and can hold it, they'll be able to uncover vast treasures. Dwarves have accumulated wealth over ten thousand years—it's no joke. Completely reclaiming Eight Peaks Mountain and extracting countless treasures will make Angland Clan's resurgence within reach.
The human gold, silver, and copper coin systems were entirely copied from the dwarven currency system. The value is the same, although dwarves prefer to engrave the Book of Hatred, mountains, or anvils on their gold coins. The reverse usually bears the portrait of the current Supreme King, a clan emblem, and the production date.
After a sumptuous banquet, Belgar left the banquet hall, wobbling as the King of Eight Peaks made his way to his temporary abode from the Dwarf Hall.
Breeze Castle, built midway in the Gray Mountain Range's underground, is a large fortress housing tens of thousands of dwarves. It has good relations with both the Empire's Rick Territory and Marinburg, engaging in long-term trade and offering military aid when needed.
