Warhammer Divine Throne-Chapter 607 - 266, Calm Conversation_2
"I want both, but first, take a look at this."
Teresa pulled out a piece of parchment.
Veronica took the parchment.
The parchment was a letter from Teresa's mother, Aurora, to Teresa. The letter agreed to Teresa's request for further strengthening cooperation with Laine. It mentioned the issue of Teresa's Wizard Tower, and Aurora indicated she could provide eight thousand Gold Marks (also known as eight thousand Gold Crowns) for her daughter's Wizard Tower construction, with the rest of the money needing to be raised by Teresa herself.
The letter also mentioned another issue, which was about Veronica entering the Inner Ring Elder Council. Aurora did not wish for Veronica to join the Elder Council, but due to Laine's prominence, Aurora indicated that Veronica's hope was substantial.
"I am firstly Laine's woman, and then a female member of the Jialan Council. Now, whether or not I become an Elder is meaningless to me. My Wizard Tower is here in Laine's territory, not in the Celestial Vault Castle." Veronica frowned.
The Jialan Witch pondered the meaning behind Teresa presenting the letter.
Veronica defined her position in the council as a liaison between Laine and the Jialan Council. Laine, in essence, is ultimately a warrior and Lord Nobility; he certainly needs answers in magic, and Veronica could play that role at his side.
Promotion to an Inner Ring Elder holds little significance for Veronica, as she would not permanently reside at the Celestial Vault Castle.
Veronica immediately realized that the situation had changed.
A flash passed through Teresa's silver eyes: "Veronica, you've been away from the council for too long."
The Jialan Witch's expression finally changed a bit; perhaps, as Teresa said, she has indeed been away from the Jialan Council for too long. Ever since coming to Laine's side, she had thrown all her energies into her Wizard Tower and Laine's affairs.
"So, has the Speaker already reached some agreement with Lady Aurora?" Veronica's change in expression was caught by Teresa, who also lifted one long leg clad in leather pants and boots: "You guess?"
"I have no interest in playing guessing games with you, Trovik." Veronica said sternly: "Or we could just end our conversation today at this point?"
The rain outside was heavy, in the night, the downpour beat against the glazed windows, the two Jialan female members sat opposite each other in the room, their relationship was strange, being both rivals in love and colleagues, both Casters should understand each other, yet they face the awkwardness of overlapping identities.
"Laine is too exceptional, Miss Veronica Bernadotte." Teresa continued.
Veronica looked up; she knew what Teresa was implying.
"Let your mother speak to me, Trovik, you're not in charge." Veronica returned the letter to Teresa: "This topic ends here. Now, let's discuss the next issue."
Both were smart, and saying half the words was enough.
"Regarding Laine's issue... Trovik, I think arguing further will be futile." Veronica's expression was very cold: "But first, we must recognize a fact and reach a consensus, that I was the one who had a relationship with Laine first, I am also ahead."
Teresa leaned back on the couch, nodding calmly: "Yes, I admit."
"Then we have a basis to talk."
......
"What heavy rain, my lady." At night, beside the small pond next to the Lake Fairy Tower, thick mist pervaded.
Laine and the Lake Fairy were strolling along the side of the pond; the torrential rain did not affect them in the slightest, as there was some sort of protection around them, any raindrop trying to approach them would be repelled.
The only difference was that Laine's shield was light blue, while the Lake Fairy's shield was emerald green.
"I've told you in private to just call me Lilith." The Lake Fairy's voice carried an indescribable fatigue. She held Laine's arm: "Laine, my champion, let's go inside, hold me."
"This should have happened sooner," Laine said softly.
Today, the Lake Fairy wore a gray vintage evening dress made of fluorescent velvet from the Ossuan High Elf Phoenix Royal Court. Her unparalleled beauty leaned against Laine's chest with a faint smile, her golden hair almost touching the ground, while her dainty little feet softly swayed with her motions, yet all this could not hide the paleness of her complexion: "Carry me to the fourth floor, Laine."
"Lilith, what's going on? You're so weak now." Laine asked, puzzled, as he carried the Lake Fairy upstairs.
"What else could it be, the Elf Gods once again erupted in a civil strife, and it affected me." The Lake Fairy said helplessly as she curled closer into Laine's embrace: "I originally didn't want to participate in this internal conflict, but when Ossuan faced the Northern Chaos Tribes' invasion simultaneously, I had no choice but to come out and fight."
Laine's footsteps were steady as he carried the Lake Fairy all the way to the fourth floor, and they both sat down on a reclining chair.
"An army of Northern Barbarians who worship Chaos invaded the northern Cosque Kingdom of Ossuan. The leader is Slaanesh's Divine Chosen Champion, 'the Beauty' Prince Sigwald. He led an army of over six thousand to land on Cosque's territory." With a pale face, the Lake Fairy leaned against Laine's shoulder, meanwhile playing with Laine's black hair with her slender, jade-like fingers.
"I don't believe the High Elves can't handle an invading army of six thousand Barbarians." Laine looked at the pouring rain outside: "We are very aware of how powerful the High Elves are."
