Grismore River, riverside, Turis Castle.

Duke Boldro Bodrick stood on the high city wall, with dozens of Sea God Knights standing behind him. His deputy general, Sir Houlf, who is also the deputy head of the Sea God Knight Order, stood behind him.

The Duke surveyed the distance, where the vast army of Vampires could be seen as far as the eye could reach, with the endless Zombie Legion occupying all the sight. However, these creatures were not what the Duke was worried about. The Zombie rabble could be crushed by a single charge of the Knights, and even the Peasant Infantry Corps could easily defeat these walking corpses.

What really worried Bodric were those large squads of Desolate Tomb Guards. These Undead Warriors wore rusty chest armor, wielded rusted weapons with shields and sharp swords, or long halberds. The arrows shot by the ordinary Peasant Archers were utterly unable to harm these powerful Undead Warriors, and in close combat, the Peasant Infantry were no match for these formidable fighters. Bodric had to rely on the protection of the city walls and the valor of the Knights.

The Vampire army was numerous, but lacked siege weapons. Bodric's troops were fewer in number, but had the advantage of high walls and deep moats, leading to a stalemate. Every night, the Vampire army attacked the city, while during the day, they ceased fire. The reversed day and night cycle was torturous for the human army; the Undead needed no rest, but humans did.

"The Undead are coming again," Bodric noticed the Zombie Army advancing once more. These walking corpses lacked any semblance of defense, shambling forward directly with their legs. If they were only a small group, the charge of the Sea God Knights could rip through them like tearing a rag.

But faced with the thousands upon thousands of the Zombie Legion spread across the hills, the only thing Bodric could do was hold on for dear life, as any Knight caught in this vast sea would inevitably meet their death.

The city walls of Turis Castle were tall enough, the white giant stone walls towering over ten meters high. Although the Undead made rudimentary siege ladders, few could actually rush up to the walls. Upon the broad battlements, the Peasant Infantry Corps and Peasant Archers were tensely preparing for battle. Most of them bore faces of exhaustion and malnutrition. The sergeants hurriedly ran along the walls: "Prepare for battle! Prepare for battle! Soldiers, summon your courage! His Grace the Duke is watching over us from behind!" 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚

The Peasants had no choice but to rise in weariness and prepare for battle. During the day, they had to repair the castle, burn the corpses, and check their equipment, leaving little time for rest, while at night they had to fight continuously. The prolonged pressure was nearly causing breakdowns in the already malnourished bodies of the Peasants.

"Fight! Fight!" Despite this, the Peasants still raised their Long Spears and took up bows and arrows ready for battle. Even the most cowardly Peasant would burst forth with tremendous courage when their homeland was threatened.

"Release the arrows!!"

Over a thousand Peasant Archers drew their short bows, a dense rain of arrows flew from the walls, felling the zombies in the forefront of the terrifying zombie tide like mowing down wheat.

Yet there was no trace of joy on Bodric's face. The Duke himself knew clearly that these zombies were not dead, but only temporarily lost control after being hurt. As soon as the Undead Mage regained control, the zombies would rise again.

The tide of corpses surged like a flood beneath the city walls, and the overseeing Blood Knights and Desolate Tomb Guards shouted, several ladders rose from the tide of corpses. Each at the top of a ladder stood a Desolate Tomb Guard, completely indifferent to the effects of gravity.

The first ladder rested against the city wall, and the Desolate Tomb Guard at the top leaped onto the wall, sweeping and instantly killing several Peasant Archers amid screams.

"Close combat!" Bodric roared immediately.

"Close combat!" The sergeants on the wall shouted, as the Peasant Archers scrambled back in some disarray. Groups of Long Spear Soldiers advanced, shouting angrily, clad in simple leather armor, only a few had chest armor. The dense array of Long Spears collectively lunged, piercing the body of the Desolate Tomb Guard with seven or eight spears. It shouted and then fell off the wall.

Many Ranger Knights surged up, slaying the isolated Desolate Tomb Guards one by one.

"One, two, three, push!" Under the command of the Sea God Knights, the Infantry pushed the ladders over powerfully, and the zombies climbing them fell in droves.

On the high tower within the castle, the catapults' winches continuously rotated, hurling massive stones into the air, targeting the enemies outside the castle. The huge stones crushed groups of zombies with each throw.

Miles away from the castle in the Vampire camp, the Blood Red Duke anxiously watched the fierce battle at Turis Castle, constantly shouting, releasing his own hatred and pressure. His emotions were filled with fury. It had been many days, yet he still could not break through Turis Castle.

Failing to breach Turis Castle, how could he even think about attacking Boldro?

The floods summoned by the Lake Fairy indeed caused a significant impact on the Duchy of Connaught. The Blood Red Duke spent months rallying this army, but many siege weapon workshops and graves were destroyed by the flood. His forces lacked strong siege weapons, leading to his continued failure to breach Turis Castle.
