Wandering Meteor-Chapter 3: Wandering!
Chapter 3 - 3: Wandering!
An interstellar probe, slowly revolving around the Solar System along with the Solar Sphere Material.
This should be a probe that humanity had launched in the past.
After losing contact with Earth, the probe could no longer communicate with its masters and for some reason ended up stationary within the Heliosphere.
There had been speculation before that the Heliosphere might serve as a "barrier" preventing humanity from flying out of the Solar System.
Now, Lu Chen feels there might be some truth to this.
However, the interstellar dimming was also due to the Heliosphere, which shielded the Solar System from most of the radiation, seemingly in protection of the Solar System.
It seems the reasons behind this are complex.
Lu Chen decided to not concern himself with these for the time being and controlled Gravity to draw the probe over.
Wandering alone in the cosmos, it is not easy to come across something familiar; finding it felt like encountering someone from his hometown, and Lu Chen couldn't bear to leave the probe alone out here.
He felt as if there was a lonely soul inside the probe!
"This is the Wandering probe!"
Having drawn the probe close, Lu Chen saw a nameplate on it, but unfortunately, it did not state the launch date, only the name of the probe written in Chinese.
Upon closer inspection, the construction of the probe was quite rudimentary.
Consisting of a three-meter main body (with thrusters and some electronic components), connected to a 3.7-meter diameter high-gain antenna.
And three long booms of different functions.
One was a boom for the magnetometer.
Another was for mounting a nuclear power generator.
The last boom was for carrying various detection and imaging equipment; after all, the probe's mission was to explore the Universe on behalf of humanity.
After a brief inspection, Lu Chen placed the probe behind himself.
With his current colossal diameter of ten thousand meters, he could easily ensure the safety of the probe.
Unless a planet could roll over his body, nothing could threaten the probe.
Out of a very special sentiment, he did not absorb the probe as part of his body; rather, he chose to protect this loyal assistant of humanity.
"I feel like my body has undergone some changes just now!"
After settling the probe, Lu Chen turned his attention to the changes in his body.
His body size entering the ten-thousand-meter mark further strengthened his Gravity, and his area of influence expanded synchronously.
Because Gravity continued to strengthen, internal pressure gradually increased, and the collisions between materials became more intense, causing the temperature of the meteoric core to rise to over a hundred degrees.
And the surface material of the meteorite gradually formed a thin crustal structure under the continuous influence of its own Gravity!
The Heliosphere is the radiation boundary of the Solar Wind, and at this moment, endless Solar Wind irradiates the crust, where these ultra-high-speed charged particles, after being absorbed by the crust, slowly transform into Consciousness Particles.
This feeling, akin to a warm stream flowing into the brain, took Lu Chen by delightful surprise!
He had originally thought that his Consciousness Particles were fixed and innate; he didn't expect they could be increased by absorbing Cosmic Rays.
Doesn't that mean he could continuously enhance the number of his Consciousness Particles, making his consciousness stronger, and since Consciousness Particles can control Gravity...
Where this could lead in the future, even he couldn't predict!
After hundreds of experiments, he discovered some patterns; not any Radiation Particles could be transformed into Consciousness Particles.
For now, only some low Radiation Particles that are slowed and have their speed and vibration buffered after passing through the crust, becoming relatively stationary particles, can be transformed into Consciousness Particles.
While the high Radiation Particles would either be lost or become part of his body.
This must depend on the meteorite's body size and the electromagnetic field derived from it.
The electromagnetic field should be of utmost importance, just like Earth's magnetic field, which blocks the majority of Solar Wind; otherwise, life on Earth would have long been destroyed by the Solar Wind!
This means that charged particles can only be transformed into Consciousness Particles after being demagnetized by the magnetic field!
Gradually understanding the reason behind it, Lu Chen felt quite proud, and his path forward became increasingly clear.
However, to make the progression of his evolution more distinct, the bored Lu Chen even categorized his evolutionary stages just like in online novels.
Initially, he was an ordinary meteorite, nothing special.
When his size reached 10,000 meters, the meteorite's structure began to undergo planetary formation, and it could even transform Radiation Particles into Consciousness Particles.
This was a clear qualitative change, which can serve as a watershed.
Therefore, Lu Chen defined this stage as Star Stone!
After meteorite and Star Stone, the categorization became easier: asteroid, planet, constant star, galaxy, nebula; all these are established categories with clear differentiation methods, which can be directly applied.
"Haha, I've leveled up now, transformed from a meteorite into a Star Stone!"
This might be the only way for a lonely, isolated, and bored soul to amuse itself!
After entering the Heliosphere, the amount of interstellar material increased, and so did the dangers, with countless meteorites orbiting the Solar System shooting by like meteors.
Boom!
A meteorite thirty meters in size collided with Lu Chen at high speed, creating a giant crater over a thousand meters wide on the surface of the Star Stone and several enormous cracks spreading across the entire Star Stone.
"This is horrifying, my body was almost destroyed!"
Even though the collision did not cause pain, Lu Chen realized the sense of crisis.
Previously, he was only concerned with absorbing interstellar dust. Although large in size, his density was low, and his hardness insufficient.
In the dangerous cosmic environment, meteorite collisions are commonplace, and poor impact resistance would be problematic.
Hence, he began to control Gravity, increasing the pressure inside his body.
Pop!
Fortunately, now that his Consciousness Particles were stronger and Gravity control easier, the Star Stone indeed began to collapse under the increased gravitational pressure.
Pop, pop...
In a short while, the 10,000-meter Star Stone slowly compressed to 5,000 meters!
"My size is halved, but the range of Gravity's influence hasn't diminished; it must only relate to mass!"
Lu Chen immediately tried and found that Gravity could still attract matter within a range of ten thousand meters, which reassured him.
With his current density and hardness, if that thirty-meter meteorite struck again, at most, it would create a crater several dozen meters wide.
His impact resistance greatly improved, enhancing his survival capabilities in the universe!
And through these few attempts, he found that after strengthening his Consciousness Particles, he could control Gravity to increase or decrease it!
Previously, he could only contract or eliminate the range of Gravity.
"Now, let's see if this detector can be reactivated?"
After sorting out his body's situation, Lu Chen had nothing else to do and started to tinker with the detector.
Anyway, it would take some time to exit the Heliosphere, and along the way, the Star Stone would automatically absorb the surrounding interstellar material due to its Gravity, without him needing to worry too much.
He checked and found that the detector's surface was not damaged; it probably just ran out of power, perhaps due to a malfunction in the nuclear reactor generator or the depletion of carried materials.
Regardless of the situation, Lu Chen felt a bit powerless at the moment.
Firstly, he had no hands to perform repairs.

Secondly, he couldn't provide the uranium material needed for nuclear fission, so he had to think of another method.
However, if it was really just a power issue, it was easy to solve. The universe contains countless charged particles and many electromagnetic fields, so as long as he could gather sufficient quantities, he should be able to generate an electric current.
