Walker Of The Worlds-Chapter 2871: A Chat With The Elders And Abbot
Brother Yanzhi bowed from the cot, tears in his eyes. "You saved me. I thought I would die today."
"You're healed," Lin Mu said with a smile. "But rest, and let your meridians recover. The sutra heals the body, but you must steady the spirit too."
That night, word of the healing spread across the temple like wildfire. Some whispered of miracles. Others began to chant Lin Mu's name in reverence.
But Lin Mu remained silent in his quarters, meditating beneath the glow of a lone spirit lantern.
There were still three sutras he had yet to uncover.
And the Healing Heart Sutra… had only just begun to reveal its secrets.
With Lin Mu healing Brother Yanzhi, the news of it spread quite quickly within the temple. After all, the poison he had been inflicted with was notoriously difficult to cure and required a rare antidote.
While the temple did have the antidote, it wasn't kept within the Healing Hall, and by the time it could have been delivered, there was a very real chance the man might have already died.
Lin Mu's prompt interference had saved his life, something many were grateful for.
When the news finally reached the monks and the abbot, they quickly summoned Lin Mu for a discussion.
In the Great Hall, incense smoke steadily drifted through the air, casting an atmosphere of peace and solemnity over everyone present.
"We all thank you for helping Monk Yanzhi, Bearer Lin Mu," the abbot spoke, his voice calm yet deeply sincere.
"Amitabha. I only did what was needed of me," Lin Mu replied, much to the pleasure of everyone there.
"Bearer Lin Mu being with us is indeed a blessing," one of the elders added.
One by one, they all offered words of gratitude, which Lin Mu accepted with humble nods.
"Though… just what miraculous skill did you use, Bearer?" another elder asked, curiosity overtaking restraint.
"Of course, if you don't wish to reveal it, we don't mind either," a different elder added quickly, hoping not to offend.
"It's fine, Elders. It's a skill I obtained from the temple too," Lin Mu said, already prepared with a partial explanation.
"Oh?" the abbot leaned forward slightly. "Does our temple have such a skill?" he asked with clear interest.
"I don't think any of the healing techniques kept in the library are this potent, though," one elder remarked in doubt.
"While I did get the skill from the temple, it did not come from the library. It came from a certain being," Lin Mu clarified, his tone reverent.
"What being?" another elder asked.
"The very foundation of the temple," Lin Mu said with a soft smile.
That was enough for everyone to grasp what he meant.
"It… It can't be…"
"The Green Petal Urim Lotus?!" gasped another, unable to contain their shock.
"Indeed," Lin Mu confirmed.
"How… what…" they were stunned into silence.
"A few days ago, I had the fortune of meeting the Venerable Lotus," Lin Mu began, recounting his experience of how he had stumbled upon the mutated Urim Lotus with green veins.
He described how he had gone underground and discovered their cradle right beneath an unassuming peak used only for farming herbs and grains.
He told them how the Lotus Spirit had taken a liking to him and offered her blessing, which had manifested as the Healing Heart Sutra.
While the skill itself was ultimately part of the Nine Divine Heart Sutras, the blessing was very much real. It had even helped Lin Mu directly reach the third stage of Internal Resonance.
As such, the contribution of the Green Petal Urim Lotus Spirit could not be denied.
After listening to the entire tale, the abbot and the elders couldn't help but marvel at it.
"Bearer Lin Mu is indeed the right person to have the White Jade Ruyi, if even the Green Petal Urim Lotus approves of him," an elder murmured.
"Even I haven't had the fortune of seeing the Green Petal Urim Lotus…" the abbot added with a trace of regret in his voice.
Having served as the abbot for thousands of years and being one of the prominent figures in the Silent Lotus World, he couldn't help but wonder what he lacked to be granted such an opportunity.
Nevertheless, he was pleased it had been Lin Mu who received the chance.
"Looks like we'll have to make some changes in the temple," the abbot said, looking around at the elders. "The Eighth Herb Peak shall now be a Sacred Peak of the Green Lotus Temple. No one is allowed to go there without prior approval."
"It shall be done!" the elders replied without hesitation. ƒrēewebnoѵёl.cσm
"I don't think much protection will be required, Abbot. The mutated Urim Lotuses are highly protected within their cradle and lie thousands of meters underground. Even I wasn't able to sense it until the Lotus revealed the path to me," Lin Mu explained.
"That's true. Even we were unable to discover this despite being here all these years," the abbot agreed with a nod.
"Besides, the Green Petal Urim Lotus doesn't reside there. It lives in its own secret realm, hidden from the rest of the world," Lin Mu added.
"I see… With its cultivation base, perhaps that's a necessity," the abbot acknowledged.
They all knew the Green Petal Urim Lotus had existed for countless years and was a Triple Transcendent Plant. No ordinary being could compare to it. Perhaps its cultivation had reached a stage where the world itself could no longer endure its presence.
Lin Mu could sense that as well.
If the Green Petal Urim Lotus were to cultivate outside in the Silent Lotus World, it would likely drain the entire region of its Qi, leaving it desolate. It was far better for it to remain within its hidden realm.
"Now that I think of it…" the abbot suddenly recalled something. "The old abbot once mentioned that our temple used to have multiple hidden realms.
One of them is the place where the White Jade Ruyi was hidden. Another served as a bunker for emergencies, and there are more that we don't yet know of," the old man explained.
"That makes sense. So one of them was under the guardianship of the Venerable Lotus all this time," the elders agreed, sharing looks of awe and revelation.
