Chapter 67: Chapter 67- Vice Captain Grey Reynolds (2)

Looking around to find his location, Grey decided to look for a restaurant where he could eat. After that, maybe he would find a shop where they sold medicinal herbs so that he could concoct his poison. Without the addition of poison, Grey felt that his overall attacking power had diminished. 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎

But as he started to walk through the streets of Sky Mist City, he saw a cultivator flying in the sky. With a nonchalant expression, he lowered his gaze, not wanting to see or be seen by the other party. Only cultivators in the Foundation Establishment realm could actively fly without any magic treasures or artifacts. Any Foundation Establishment cultivator could kill him, so he wanted to avoid trouble as much as possible.

But to his surprise and shock, the Foundation Establishment cultivator landed near him. The figure started to walk toward him. Knowing that he couldn’t avoid a confrontation, he decided to take a look at the person to see if he knew them.

Surprisingly, the Foundation Establishment cultivator was someone he knew. More precisely, it was Miss Tyler. With a respectful expression on his face, Grey nodded at her. He had not seen them ever since the tests started, so he didn’t know whether they were actually aware of their progress or whether they had managed to make it to Sky Mist Academy.

Miss Tyler did not congratulate him extravagantly; she simply uttered a few words of congratulations and skipped to the main topic.

’Always so straightforward!’ he said inwardly, but he preferred straightforward people. No beating around the bush.

"I must say my congratulations for passing the Sky Mist exams and becoming a student of Sky Mist Academy, but you must know that the environment and people here are very competitive. Any small mistake can cost you your life! There are no direct killings, but you can always kill your opponent using other methods. I’m sure you will figure them out."

Although her words were short and vague, to Grey, who was already starting to form a general picture of things, they were very detailed. He also noticed some words she said and others she didn’t, which implied that they were meant to be taken seriously. Grey nodded with a serious expression on his face.

"Now, the main reason I’m here is because your..." Not knowing how to address him, she stuck to his regular title. "Captain has gone into closed-door cultivation, and the time he will come out is unknown, so he asked me to give you this!"

With a wave of her hand, a small bottle flew forward, and Grey caught it. When he took a look at it, he noticed it was the magic ship that the Captain had used to storm the Shadow Sect.

This was a prized possession because it was made by a strong expert in the Foundation Establishment realm. It possessed powerful divine attacks and defenses that even other Foundation Establishment magic ships couldn’t boast of.

Now that he was worrying about accommodation and food, the Captain had already solved one of his problems for him. Gratitude arose in his heart. He promised to thank the Captain whenever he got the chance. He cupped his fists and bowed toward Miss Tyler.

With her usual nonchalant expression, she nodded and took off, disappearing into the distance in a flash. Grey looked at her retreating figure until it disappeared completely. He gave the glass bottle one last glance before keeping it in his storage bag.

With a small amount of points, he hurried toward the administration department to register his magic ship and be assigned a port where he could dock.

In Sequence Three, the port was the main source of activity and many people’s livelihood. Most people who lived in the port had magic ships and used them as their residences.

As he got closer to the administration department, he suddenly recalled something from the Sky Mist exam. A youth had said that opponents who lost would have points deducted from them, and some would be added to the winner’s account as well. If that was true, then he should have some points in his account by now.

He checked to make sure, but only saw the same meager number of five. At that, he gritted his teeth slightly.

"If that’s true, then we’ve all been scammed!" he muttered as he entered the administration department to register his magic ship and be assigned a port.

As he was being assigned a port, they checked his identity token several times, along with his magic ship, before eventually assigning him one.

"Berth 4, Port 117. The moment you start docking, you will be charged a docking fee per month," the administrator said.

"How much is the docking fee?" Grey asked cautiously. If it was too expensive, he would come back and dock when he had money. If it was something he could squeeze out immediately, then he wouldn’t hesitate.

"The docking fee is ten spirit stones per month," the administrator said so calmly that Grey almost spat out blood.

’Ten spirit stones! I barely have five spirit stones!’ he exclaimed inwardly but hos external expression was calm and composed.

"Whenever I’m ready, I’ll start docking," he said with a wry smile hidden beneath his detective hat. The administrator didn’t seem to notice and merely shrugged.

With heavy shoulders, Grey left the administration department and looked for a restaurant to have a small meal. After that, he would go back to the Detective Agency Department and get used to the ropes. He could stay there for a while without needing to pay rent, which was fine for him.

He remembered a restaurant the Captain had pointed out when they were walking together. She said it had fair rates and decent food prices. Moreover, the area was rather close to the Detective Agency Department, which meant it would have a certain level of peace and tranquility, something he really needed to gather his thoughts and reorganize himself.

Before long, he spotted the restaurant. Without hesitation, he walked in and chose a table near a corner where he could observe all the customers entering and leaving. With his back against the wall, no one could suddenly sneak up on him.

Grey’s eyes narrowed into vertical slits as he subtly observed everyone in the restaurant. He had chosen this corner subconsciously, allowing him to observe the entire place without even realizing it.

’I’ve changed a lot after I woke up...’ Even though Grey did not know how he behaved before he awakened in this world, he knew that his indifferent behavior and expression was due to the series of life-and-death crisis that he had gone through. And as this thought echoed in his mind, his grey eyes grew distant and detached.

The waiter came over to take his order, but because Grey’s detective hat blocked most of his face, including his eyes, the waiter didn’t notice and repeatedly asked him for his order.

As he reminisced, a sense of melancholy and sadness surfaced. His sorrow stemmed from his siblings. The Grey in his memories had a brother and a sister, but both had gone missing.

For some reason, Grey couldn’t recall their names, but he had hazy memories of their time together. Even so, he could still remember their appearances vividly.

His sister, who was younger than him, had slightly pale skin and raven-black hair, unlike Grey. However, she shared his hazy grey eyes and sometimes wore the same detached expression. Yet whenever she smiled or felt happy, her expression would warm completely.

As for his brother, who was three years older than him, he also had grey hair like Grey, but his eyes were emerald green. Unlike his siblings, he didn’t have detached, distant eyes and was usually calm and cheerful.

Fragments of memories flashed through his mind. Seeing the memories of the previous owner of his body, Grey let out a soft sigh. At that moment, his murky eyes seemed to grow even hazier. It was also then that he realized the waiter was still waiting for his order.

Taking a brief glance at the menu, he picked a dish and watched as the waiter walked away in frustration and slight indignance, which Grey ignored. He wasn’t allowed to kill mundane people anyway.

With a sigh, he returned to silently observing the occupants of the small restaurant. After a few minutes, a waitress came and served his meal. She was a young girl, probably no younger than Grey himself. She had an innocent look in her eyes and a sense of naivety. She looked at Grey curiously but couldn’t see much due to the detective hat blocking most of his facial features. In the end, she left.

After having a peaceful lunch, Grey stood up, paid, and left the restaurant. A short while later, the Detective Agency building came into view. With a detached expression, he slowly walked inside.

Many members gave him strange looks as he entered, but as soon as they saw him pin his badge to his chest, their expressions shifted to relief, and then respect, when they realized he was the Vice Captain of Team Red.

With a curt nod, Grey asked for directions and walked into his assigned "office." The room contained a swivel chair, a slightly large desk, and most of the other things one would expect in an office.

Several documents and files were stacked neatly on the desk. Grey approached slowly, took a seat, and began reading through them one by one.

A hint of enlightenment appeared in his eyes. Most of the documents detailed rules and regulations he had to follow, along with the perks and privileges he enjoyed. After that came files containing information on wanted criminals and thugs.

"Oh, this won’t be as boring as I thought," Grey said after reading for some time.
