Chapter 31: Chapter: 30 You shall call me that!

Mini-Rosalina and big Rosalina both froze. They stared at Rosel without blinking.

Julius looked at Rosalina’s face carefully.

"So she feels the same way too?" he said quietly to himself.

He stepped closer to her.

"It really is happening," he murmured.

"In TST, when Rosalina and Julius acted strange around Rosel, I thought the author was just using plot armor to force the story."

"But when I actually met her, I was even worse than Rose. She only got dazed. Me?"

He scratched his cheek, his face turning red, "I even cried while calling her my daughter. At that moment, nothing else was in my mind."

"After I calmed down, I felt so embarrassed. After all, I’m supposed to be an evil villain."

"It’s rare for me to cry... and showing kindness to a random stranger felt even more shameful."

He clicked his tongue and stood next to Rosalina. Both of them looked at Rosel.

Rosel tilted her head and asked in her small voice,

"Papa... is she the one you always talk about?"

Julius gave a small nod. He stayed quiet.

He glanced at Rosalina, then turned to Rosel with a big grin.

He moved his lips slowly and silently so only Rosel could understand:

*Call. Her. Mommy.*

*Call. Her. Mommy.*

Rosel blinked at him once. Then she looked at Rosalina, who was still frozen and dazed.

She looked back at Julius and blinked again.

A tiny, smug grin appeared on Rosel’s face.

She gave Julius a quick thumbs-up behind her back.

Then she turned fully toward Rosalina.

Her big eyes became very round and innocent.

She blinked slowly a few more times.

Little sparkling stars seemed to shine in her eyes as she looked up at Rosalina with full cuteness.

In her soft, sweet voice she asked:

"My name is after you... are you my mommy?"

Rosalina’s whole body went stiff. Her black eyes opened wide.

Rosalina tried hard to keep her usual cold face.

But when she looked down at the little girl hugging her legs, her expression started to break.

Her eyes became soft. Her lips trembled just a little.

However, the mini-Rosalina on her shoulder didn’t hold back at all. She burst into loud tears right away.

Her small body shook as she cried.

"Daughter..." she whispered.

"I’m so sorry. I thought you were someone I should be careful of... someone dangerous."

She sniffed quietly. A tear slipped down her cheek.

"Come here, baby! Give mommy a hug!"

The mini version flew off Rosalina’s shoulder.

She passed straight through the carriage window like a ghost.

She floated right in front of Rosel with open arms.

"Come, give mommy a big hug! I thought you had another mother... I thought my hubby was cheating on me with her!"

"I’m so sorry for suspecting you, sweetie. I should have listened to the angel. But that bitch devil tricked me and made me think bad things. I’m really sorry... come here!"

While the mini-Rosalina was crying and waving her tiny arms happily, the real Rosalina finally snapped out of her daze.

She quickly pinched the back of her own left hand, hard, to wake herself up.

"Ahem... ahem."

She cleared her throat loudly a few times.

Her face turned a little red. She looked very awkward.

Somehow, she forced herself to calm down and look normal again.

’Her cuteness is very dangerous,’ Rosalina thought to herself.

’Even someone as evil as me felt deep pain in my heart after just one look at her. No wonder hubby felt sorry for her and took her in.’

Rosalina coughed again. "Ahem."

She let out a small snort. "Hmph. You should teach her how to behave properly," she said in her usual cold voice.

She turned her back to them, arms crossed tightly.

The mini-Rosalina, still floating near Rosel, waved her tiny hands quickly.

"Don’t worry, sweetie! She’s lying right now. I’m your real mommy! Call me anytime you want, okay?"

She tried to hug Rosel with her small ghostly arms, but of course, no one could see or feel her.

There was no point, but she kept trying anyway, looking very happy.

Julius stepped forward.

He clasped his hands together like he was praying.

His head lowered a little as he spoke in a soft, almost begging tone.

"Come on, Rose... I know you hate me right now. But in the future, you will love me. It’s guaranteed. So how about we compromise a little? Let her call you that? Please?"

Rosalina’s eyes twitched. She slowly turned her head and stared at him.

Her gaze was sharp, like she was deciding whether to freeze him solid or just ignore him forever.

Meanwhile, Alfred stood a few steps away, completely shocked.

His mouth hung open slightly.

’This... is this really my young master?’

He had never seen Julius act like this toward anyone.

So kind. So respectful. So... desperate.

The only time Alfred had seen this side of Julius was when he was a small child talking to his own parents.

Not even the clan elders ever got this treatment from him.

Julius had been arrogant since he was a boy.

Proud. Cold. Always looking down on everyone.

And now?

He was behaving like a complete simp toward a girl, a girl who was supposed to be his enemy, no less.

And what shocked Alfred even more...

The most prideful girl in the entire Valentina clan, Lady Rosalina herself, was clearly pretending.

She was acting cold on the outside, but Alfred could see right through it.

He had lived much longer than Julius. He had been an assassin once. Reading people was second nature to him.

Julius might not notice, but Alfred did.

Rosalina’s ears were slightly red. Her fingers were gripping her own arms too tightly.

And every time Rosel called her "mommy," Rosalina’s shoulders relaxed just a tiny bit before she forced them stiff again.

’What in the world is happening right now?’ Alfred thought.

’This can’t be real. The young master begging? The ice princess melting?’

Rosel pushed the carriage door open with both hands.

She jumped down lightly onto the ground.

With a few quick small steps, she reached Rosalina.

She gently took Rosalina’s hand and pulled it slowly, trying to turn her around.

Rosalina didn’t move.

She kept her back turned, arms still crossed.

Rosel looked up at Julius with big, worried eyes, asking for help without words.

Julius quickly moved his lips again, silent words only Rosel could see: 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢

*Cry.* *Tell.* *Her.* *You.* *Won’t.*

*Her.* *Mommy.*

’I know you don’t like me yet, Rose. But if I can’t resist Rosel... then I’m sure you can’t resist her either. Let her be the bridge between us two.’ He thought with a sly grin.

Rosel understood right away. She turned back to Rosalina. Her lower lip started to tremble.

Her big eyes filled with tears. In a small, shaky, crying voice she said:

"Don’t be angry... sniff...If you don’t like it... sniff... I won’t call you mommy anymore..."

Julius cheered inside his head like an excited fan:

’That’s right, my little princess! Go and conquer your mommy for your papa!’

He stood there with his arms crossed, waiting patiently, a tiny proud smile on his face.

Rosalina didn’t snap this time. She didn’t turn around either.

She just cleared her throat a few times.

"Ahem... ahem..."

After a short silence, she spoke in a calm but slightly softer voice:

"Now that... your name was given while keeping mine in mind... then I ought to take responsibility."

She paused.

Still facing away from them.

Her shoulders relaxed just a tiny bit.

"Very well then..."

She took one small breath.

"You shall call me that."

Rosel’s tears stopped instantly.

Her face lit up brighter than before.

"Really?! Mommy!!"
