Villainess is being pampered by her beast husbands-Chapter 306 --
Kaya could not believe it. Again. Every single time she raised her leg, there was at least a ninety-five percent chance that this very sparrow was the unfortunate target.
She stared at him for a long second, then crouched down, crossing her arms. In a slightly teasing tone, she said, "So, Mr. Sparrow... what are you doing here this time?"
The sparrow, feathers ruffled like a half-plucked chicken, wobbled and tried to stand. He steadied himself with difficulty, his tiny legs trembling, before glaring up at her with pure, offended rage.
"Charp! Charp! Charp! Charp! Charp!" he screeched, pointing a wing at Kaya as if it were a finger, stabbing it toward her accusingly.
Kaya blinked, expression blank, waiting for him to finish his furious tirade. She didn’t understand a single chirp — but judging by the sharpness in his voice and the way he was hopping in fury, she could definitely tell it wasn’t anything polite.
Meanwhile, the sparrow kept going, feathers puffed in indignation.
"Charp! Charp! ...chirpppp?"
(How could you do this to me? How could you leave me behind and kick me? Are you a donkey or what? Always kicking me around like a ball! You left me there all alone—what if someone had eaten me, huh? What if I met some dangerous predator?’ He flapped his wings in outrage. ’Do you even care?)
" Charp! Charp! Charp!"
Kaya just stared, unmoved, her glare flattening whatever remained of his courage.
On the other side, Veer — who, being a vulture, should have understood at least something — looked completely lost. Normally, he could grasp the tone or at least a few words of another bird’s language. But this one? Either the sparrow was an idiot, or he was... an even bigger idiot.
Veer sighed and rubbed his forehead. From the look on Kaya’s face, he already knew — this little bird was done for.
The sparrow hopped forward until he was barely a finger’s distance from Kaya’s foot.
And Kaya—well, Kaya being Kaya—lifted her leg again and kicked.
This time, it wasn’t even that hard, but still enough to send the sparrow tumbling with a startled squeak. He rolled twice, ruffled his feathers, and then—poof!—a faint shimmer of light flashed, and suddenly a young man with tousled brown hair sat on the floor, rubbing his back furiously. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶
"You— you bitch!" he shouted—only for his voice to break halfway as his eyes met Kaya’s deadly glare. His tone dropped instantly. "I–I mean... you lady! How dare you kick me? Huh? Don’t you see your feet are so thick, and my butt is so soft!"
Kaya crossed her arms, unimpressed. "Oh, so now you can transform into human form, huh?"
The sparrow blinked, tilting his head. "Hu...man?"
Kaya sighed and pinched the bridge of her nose. "Whatever. Two-legged creature. Same thing."
He opened his mouth, ready to argue that even in bird form he was two-legged—but one look at her eyes made him think better of it. With a nervous grin, he folded his legs and sat down cross-armed on the floor, trying to look casual.
Kaya’s tone turned icy. "You’ve got fifty seconds to explain what the hell, why the hell, and how the hell you even got here."
He blinked. "Fif—?"
"Fifty," she started, counting down. "Forty-nine... forty-eight..."
The sparrow panicked immediately. "Hey! Hey, wait! Wait! What are you doing?"
Kaya’s expression didn’t even twitch. "Forty-seven. Forty-six..."
"Okay, okay! I was just a little angry! You scared me! It hurt! That’s why I shouted!" he babbled, voice tripping over itself.
Kaya kept counting. "Forty... thirty-nine..."
The sparrow threw his wings up in surrender. "Alright! Alright! I just got back from a long flight! I—"
But before he could finish, his knees buckled. His body swayed once, then crumpled.
Kaya’s heart skipped. "Hey—!" She lunged forward and caught him just before he hit the ground. His skin was hot—too hot. A deep frown cut across her face.
"Seriously? You’ve got a fever, idiot?" she muttered, brushing his sweat-damp hair from his forehead. "You caused such a scene and didn’t even say you were sick?"
Without thinking, she lifted him up in her arms.
Both Veer and Cutie froze.
Veer’s golden eyes widened. "Kaya—wait! You shouldn’t carry him!" He stepped forward, but she shook her head firmly.
"It’s fine. I’ve got him."
Veer gritted his teeth, clearly torn between logic and jealousy. "No, we can’t let him—"
Before he could finish, Kaya brushed past him, ignoring his outstretched hand. Veer clenched his fists, watching her walk away, the unconscious sparrow resting peacefully against her shoulder.
He bit his lip, hard, jaw tightening.
Even he—had never been carried in her arms like that.
And yet that damn sparrow got to be?
Veer’s feathers practically bristled with envy.
Cutie, on the other hand, looked calm—too calm—as he watched the scene unfold. But the whitened knuckles of his clenched fist told another story.
The poor sparrow had no idea that even before he could properly meet Kaya, there were already two men silently plotting a hundred creative ways to kill him.
Kaya brought the sparrow straight to the healer’s hut. Without a word, she laid him gently on the bed, her expression hardening.
"Heal him," she ordered.
The healer blinked, glancing from the unconscious sparrow to Kaya. "You know I don’t get paid for healing just anyone, right? And anyway, you people aren’t even from my tribe, so—"
Before he could finish, Kaya drew her knife and pressed it lightly against his throat. Her voice dropped, cold and sharp.
"Don’t you dare give me that attitude. That vulture is an idiot, not me. You all have been leeching off him for food, and now you act like you’re doing me a favor?"
The healer froze, then slowly smiled—half amused, half cautious. "Ah, now I see why three different kinds of beastmen are crazy about you," he murmured.
He crouched beside the bed, took the sparrow’s pulse, and after a moment, said calmly, "He’s fine. Just exhausted. Some rest and he’ll be back to flapping around."
