Chapter 95: 95:Stopped.

Boras laughted at my question and looked at me as though i was a child. He shook his head in amusement.

"Don’t worry young master, I’m a regular ive already prepared all your rooms for the night."

I nodded. Atleast he was prepared. He led us into the inn saving us from the chilling winds. The massive scratched door was pushed open and the inside was revealed.

A wave of heat swept through us as the noisy inn welcomed us.

"This place is more crowded than i thought?"

Seraph said while looking around at the overcrowded tables. Drinks were scattered everywhere with servers running around and loud laughs filling the large table filled room.

The place had been squeezed to occupy that many people despite it being too small.

"Is this the only inn?"

I asked Baros. He shook his head.

"No, there are more in lawless city but they aren’t the safest that’s why most travellers prefers here."

I glanced around. Despite the place being packed, with alcohol moving around, there were no fights that you would usually expect during a bar fight.

There were almost every race seated around the tables.

"Baros!l its been a while."

A man equally as burly said and pulled Baros into a bear hug. Baros bursted into laughter and hugged him back.

They seemed to know each other very well. The man turned his gaze to us in question while glancing back to Baros for answers.

"Right, young master this is my dear friend Sirdar , he is the owner to the inn,"

Baros introduced. I nodded and extended my arm in greeting. The man took it with a smile.

"You have a... nice inn."

I said trying to come up with words to complement this shack of a place. The smell of sweat and musk decided to be more potent at this moment.

The place reeked.

"Thank you young master. Baros told me about your arrival and i personally prepared every room to your preference i hope you will like."

He continued. I doubted that but still nodded with a smile on my face.

"Thats very kind of you, thank you."

I said. I glanced back to look at the others to find all of them were not happy about our accommodations. There dissatisfaction was written on there faces.

"This way."

He said while pointing towards stairs. I nodded and followed behind the two listening to their stories and adventurs as they called it.

...

Morning came later than expected but we left the inn just as the sun was about to rise. With all the noise and songs played by drunks all night our sleep hadn’t been the best.

"Young master, we will stop at lawless city for a restock since it is the last form of civilisation we will see before moving forward."

Donovan shouted to me. I nodded. My attention had been taken by the towering wooden wall we were approaching.

Lawless city.

It wasn’t what i had expected.

"Wow, it looks more organised than its reputation."

I said to Seraph as our carriage moved forward in the slow moving line. It had taken half a day to arrive at the city.

Everything was organised and there were no expected riots or careless killings.

We passed by the gates and the guard who looked rougher than the cold weather extended his arm into the moving carriage.

"Its ten gold to enter."

The guard said his collased hand wiggling infront of me. I glanced back down then back to him.

"Didn’t you just say ten silvers for the other carriages.?"

I asked. The guard didn’t even flinch at my question, he just maintained his hand.

"Those are regulars, anyone new must pay ten gold failure to do so will result in everything you own being confiscated. "

The man said. The other two guards standing behind him nodded in unison. The scars on their faces and bulging muscles were enough to distract and scare most people.

I wasn’t one of them.

"Will this cover all the carriages that belong to me?"

I asked. Ten gold was nothing but i wasn’t in the mood to get scammed. The guard turned and glanced at his companion who nodded in agreement.

"How many carriages do you own?"

"Four."

"You’ll have to add ten silvers ."

The guard said. I sighed in irritation.

"I’ll only be giving you ten gold, if that is not enough i will go around the city unless that is forbidden. "

I said coldly. The guard flinched. From the reflection of his eyes i could see that my eyes were glowing red.

"Fine, ten gold it is. Do not cause trouble in the city the lord does not like to be disturbed. "

The guard said. It felt like a warning of some sorts with the way he glancing at his companions before muttering to us.

There seemed to be a self appointed leader in the lawless city that they were afraid of.

"As long as troubles doesn’t find me, i think we’ll have a peaceful stop over."

We weren’t planning on sleeping in but move through the city buying whatever we needed before embarking on the real journey through the forest.

"You are free to go."

Our carriage moved following behind the caravan that had already paid its dues.

The city wasn’t really as developed as i had hoped. The huge wooden walls hid the filth inside. Muddy paths, dirty residents walking around and the only places that seemed decent had stone layered roads that were broken.

The buildings were all wooden with the exceptionally few that were either built with mud or roughly curved stones.

The only thing i could commend the place was the drainage seemed okay and the air smelt like the forest around us.

This really did encompasses how a lawless land would look like.

"This is worse than i had imagined. Thank goodness we didn’t insist on coming here yesterday night."

Seraph said and wrinkled her nose in visible disgust. She had been so excited to see what was beyond the walls but all she got was reality.

This place didn’t have any funding from both kingdoms meaning they had to fund themselves in everything.

The caravam moved through the crowded city for a while before we came to a stop infront of a very familiar building structure.

The traders spot.

"We’ll be stopping here young master, i need to get some things for the journey. You can also do the same but i doubt you need anything. "

Baros said to me after i got off. I nodded. He saluted me one last time before leaving with his group.

"Does anyone need anything?"

I asked the girls while we walked into the traders spot.

"No, this place isn’t the cleanest. Luna told us its run by criminals i do not wish to encounter any of them."

Kianah said while looking around and wrinking her nose in disgust.

Inside the traders spot offered a different environment from the problems outside. It still had the same layout, mats with small tables.I chose two empty tables at the corner and sat us down.

"What would you like?"

A barbarian woman, i assumed was a server, came and knelt beside me and asked.

"What do you have?"

I turned to her and asked. I subtlety glanced around and saw most of the servers did the same.

"We serve anything."

She said seductively and smiled. She was a beautiful woman.Wavy black hair adorned with golden jewely, brown eyes and a body that seemed to be curved by the gods themselves.

"Are you trying to seduce me?"

I asked a chuckle escaping me. I felt a pinch on my arm. I turned to see Seraph glaring at me. I took her hand and ran my fingers softly in the palm of her hand.

"Why not, I’ve never seen such a beautiful man."

She answered brazenly. I bursted into laughter. I found her courage and straight forwardness amusing.

"Really, thank you...Can you serve us your specials them?"

I said cutting through the flirting. She bit her lip and showed a dissapointed look. I found her amusing, but the glares i was getting was enough to bore through my skin.

"My name is Amna, remember that."

She whispered into my ear and stood up. She bowed towards the other girls and left. I followed her movements at the corner of my eye until she dissappeared.

"Should i scar your face..then you won’t attract that many flies."

Seraph said and leaned against me. I chuckled at that.

"If you can managed to hold me down."

I returned jokingly. Seraph clicked at that.

"Master will still be as handsome. "

Kianah chimed in. She was sitted opposite me. She leaned forward and took my hand into hers and ran her fingers over them before setting it down and turning to talk to Nixie.

Odd.

"Can we drink the root?"

Jeneviv asked while pointing to the root beer that had been placed on the table by another server the moment we sat down.

"Sure, just don’t over do it."

I said to her. She nodded and poured a small amount in her wooden cup.

"Us too."

Kianah said speaking for herself and Nixie who was nodding vigorously beside her.

"Want to drink?"

I whispered to luna who sitted beside me. She shook her head. Her eyes were busy scanning the room clearly looking out for any source of danger.

She had been unusually tense the moment we got into the city. Luna had the best instincts among us and some of her tension was slowly draining into my body.

"Is there anything you would like?"

I pressed again. She shook her head.

"You don’t have to worry, I’m doing fine master."

She seriously said. She awkwardly patted my thigh before placing her hand back on her tights. I found it cute since she rarely initiated contact.
