Chapter 89: 89:Home

Going up the small hill was more uncomfortable than going down the hill. The horses seemed to be struggling with the frozen ground but their adaptability won and we managed to get back to the house in one piece.

"Master."

The moment I got down from the horse, Nixie shouted at me from the second floor. I smiled and waved at her which she returned enthusiastically before disappearing.

She was clearly coming downstairs and I knew from her shout that the others had also heard of my arrival.

I carefully walked towards the house, my feet stepping softly on the sheet of snow that had begun to form. Inside luna helped me take off my wet coat and hang it on the coat rack before we moved forward.

"I haven’t seen Donovan anywhere in the estate, did he leave?"

I asked Luna. I folded the sleeves of my white shirt absentmindedly until my elbow before turning my attention back to Luna.

"He excused himself last night. He said he wanted to stretch his body before the oncoming journey. "

Luna answered emotionlessly. I nodded. Stretching muscles for Donovan probably meant going for nearby quests that required him to fight. That battle maniac.

"Ooh..inform him to come see me when he comes back, I have a few things to discuss with him before we go into the troll forest. "

Luna nodded. We walked into the large sitting area and I sat down on the first seat I got to. I sighed heavily and leaned back the tension in my body draining away.

"Would you like a cup of tea? The local tea flavor is good, you might like it."

Luna suggested. I opened my half-closed eyes in interest.

"What type is it, I think I’ve drunk every kind of tea, by now ."

I said to Luna, my interest peaking again. Tea was the most relaxing thing a noble could drink. It was an art only the best could learn and understand.

My skills had come from my mother and I had passed them down to luna who was more than happy to make me one whenever I wanted one.

"Snow tingle tea. It is only made during the snowing period since it takes a day to grow and mature."

Luna said, her eyes shining in interest. I smiled.

"That sounds interesting. Have you already learnt how to make it?"

I asked her. She nodded.

"Really, that’s impressive luna. I marvel at how fast you can learn things. Soon, you will be able to do everything. I love how you strive to catch up with me, that is what makes you unique."

A small smile flashed on her slightly red face.

"Thank you master, I learnt from the best."

She bowed her hand in the middle of her chest. I chuckled happily.

"Would you mind teaching me how to make the tea then, when we are free?"

I asked her. I extended my arm towards her and she placed her hand on my much larger one. I brought it to my lips and kissed it before letting it go.

"No master, I would be more than happy to teach you."

I chuckled.

"Good."

She bowed and left. At that moment frantic footsteps came from upstairs before three girls emerged. Nixie, jeneviv and Kianah as they hurriedly walked down stairs.

"Master....How have you been?"

Jeneviv was the first to express her concerns as they all came to a stop in front of me. Kianah the ever daring took her seat on my lap and wrapped her hand around my neck.

"I’ve been well, I brought you gifts want to see?"

I asked them. My hand wrapped around Kianah’s waist and I softly massaged her side enjoying the sensation of her warm skin through the thin clothes she was wearing.

"What! What is it?"

Nixie asked while looking around excitedly. I released three wooden boxes from my storage ring and held them in my hand.

"What is it?"

Kianah asked curiously as she took the top one, a black colored one while Jeneviv took the second one, white, and Nixie took the third, blue.

"Just open it instead of asking."

I said to her. She chuckled and opened the box.

"You bought me jewellery, this is so beautiful you really know what I love. Help me wear it it looks beautiful. How did you know my favorite color was purple? "

Kianah said excitedly and handed me her small purple crystal necklace. A few bits of mana sipped out of the necklace but not too much.

I lopped it around her neck and tied it delicately. 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞

"Done."

She happily chuckled and pulled me closer to her as she hugged her warmth sipping into my body.

"What did you guys get?"

She asked the other girls while still maintaining her gripping hold.

"I got a blue anklet, it feels like I have the sea around me."

Nixie answered her voice wishful. I looked up at her to see her smiling sadly as she looked down at the anklet that had little fish and seashells curved from crystals hanging at the edge.

"I got a hair ornament, a pink one i really love the little bears drawn on them."

Jeneviv said excitedly as she put the clip in her hair. She would occasionally touch it and laugh.

I looked upstairs but the person I was expecting didn’t come down.

"Are you looking for the young miss?"

Jeneviv asked after noticing my distraction. She came and sat next to me getting my full attention.

I nodded at her question.

"Yes."

"She said she wanted to see the snow since it had been a while and went horseback riding. She told us to tell you not to worry that she would be back ."

Jeneviv said. I nodded the small worry going down but not fully. My magic spread around the new estate as I tried to find her.

Tracking magic couldn’t work well when I didn’t even know the area myself. Then I found her.

She was in the yard, riding the horse while happily laughing. I withdrew my detection after seeing her. I didn’t want a repeat of the previous fight again.

"Are you finding this place comfortable or is the cold affecting anyone?"

I asked directing the question to them. They all shook their head.

"The house is warm. Nixie is the only one who doesn’t like the cold ."

Jeneviv said. She leaned even closer to me. We all fell into a comfortable silence for a moment before it was broken by footsteps.

Luna appeared pushing a cart of confectionery and tea. She stopped in front of us and started to lay the table.

" I’ll help.."

Jeneviv started and let go of my arm but Luna’s gaze stopped her in her tracks.

"No, need. I’ll serve everyone tea, I do not require any help."

She said coldly without glancing at anyone as she poured tea into the four cups. Jeneviv shrank at her tone even more. I felt like smiling but I held it in.

"You don’t have to be scared, Luna doesn’t mean any harm. She just doesn’t like help okay. "

I excused Luna’s tone. Jeneviv nodded but she still glanced at her occasionally.

Luna will never appreciate anyone’s help especially when it comes to her maid duties. She took it as a sacred ritual.

"Master."

She placed the colorless tea in front of me. It looked like plain water but the smell wafting from it was enough to make my mouth water.

It smelled like dawn mixed with winter. Warm and cold at the same time.

I lifted the cup and took a small sip of the hot drink.

"This is amazing. "

I said to Luna after getting a taste. It was rare for me to like something new but I loved this tea.

"Thank you master. "

Luna bowed humbly but the lifted at the corner of her mouth was enough indicator of her escalated pride.

"You have blessed hands darling don’t forget that. You don’t have to be humble every time."

I said to her. I lifted her hand and kissed the back of it before going back to drinking the tea.

Luna moved and stood behind me as we all silently drank tea. I guess delaying comes with its advantages.

"Thank you for the tea."

I said to Luna while watching the other servants clear the table.

"Is there anything any one of you wishes to tell me?"

I asked the girls. They all shook their heads. Seeing everything was done and there was nothing else for me to do i went upstairs to my room to continue my studies.

There was only one study in this house and Seraph had already claimed it.

I took a medical book I had been reading from the shelf and sat on the couch next to the window as I read.

I had just read a few pages when a knock came. I sighed and closed the book, I had just reached the best part.

I walked to the door and pulled it open to find Jeneviv standing at the other side.

"Jeneviv, is something the matter?"

I asked while looking at the clearly uneasy girl. She glanced around her before stepping forward. I stepped sideways letting her into my room.
