.....
Lucian’s POV.
...~~~~~~~~~...
"Have you prepared everything. "
I asked Luna. I had my head on her lap and we were still in the dorms since today was the combat and magic class training and evaluation.
Our evaluation ended just yesterday after presenting our results on our previous hypothesis.
Since I had managed to induce madness, the assessment had been fairly easy as I only had to explain it to my classmates. It was off-putting since it would have been better if I showed them practically.
"Yes master, the new skins are in the mini growth tank."
I nodded and took her hand biting into the vessel her warm blood. The growth tank was a new tank Abeloin had created.
With the potion made from different plants that encouraged growth and development put in the liquid, it did just that, helped in growth.
It was mainly made for the baby when we transferred her from the tank she was in to the growth tank.
I released Luna’s hand and licked the wound, healing it.
"That’s good, the operation is going to take a while, but it’s good that the professor let me perform in his laboratory. "
Luna ran her hand through my hair her finger massaging me softly. This operation was just as delicate but not as intricate as the one I had done on Luna. It was really a miracle I had not fully destroyed her face. Maybe I was just too talented.
"It’s almost time, master, and Miss Darlene will most definitely come earlier."
"Already."
I whined. I had just started to enjoy her massage; they always made me lazy. I sat up reluctantly and let her fuss over me as she made me presentable.
"We’re finished let’s go."
I walked out of the dorm with Luna following behind me, carrying the small minitank with her. It wasn’t supposed to be placed in a storage ring since time does not change inside, and I needed the cells to keep working and reproducing like normal human skin.
The tank wasn’t large almost the size of her torso. It was covered in black clothing to prevent the sun from affecting it and from the many prying eyes.
We arrived at the laboratory in no time, only to find Miss Darlene and another woman standing outside waiting.
"You’re pretty early."
I said the moment I got near them. Miss Darlene chuckled nervously and pulled the woman next to her closer. She had short purple hair and eyes that seemed more dull than in the image I had been given.
"I apologise, young master, but I’ve been too anxious. "
Miss Darlene said, patting her chest. I could see her hands trembling. The other woman squeezed her hand and turned to me with a forced smile. She probably didn’t believe me.
"Sorry for the late introduction, my name is Angeles. I hope Darlene didn’t impose on you she’s quite impulsive."
I could see the softness in her eyes as she looked at Miss Darlene. The burns on three-quarters of her face couldn’t hide that.
"Since you two are already here, let’s go inside, I want to see the degree of the damage ."
Them coming early saved some time since they were two sand glasses early. They were supposed to come when the sun had stopped being overhead after we had had our lunch.
Luna opened the door and we walked inside. It was good that Luna had always organised the place before we left, since it was always a mess after each research.
"Sit on that metal bed."
I pointed at a bed in the corner of the laboratory, which was to give her a sense of privacy while I checked her. She took one last glance at the nervous Miss Darlene and went to where I had instructed her.
"Is it painful to the touch?"
I asked while touching the rough and bumpy skin, it was really a shock, that she had been able to survive with this degree of damage on her skin.
"Yes, most of the time, but right now I don’t feel anything. "
I nodded and wrote it down. From how burnt it was the operation had just gotten more complicated. If things went wrong she might just get paralysed on the face or even the body.
"Okay, I’ve finished with the exam," I pointed at the gown on the chair next to the bed," put this one on, I’ll be taking it to your miss Darlene while you change."
She nodded and got off the table. I went and sat in front of Miss Darlene, and she leaned forward curiously with eyes filled with hope.
"I can do the grafting, but her face was worse than I had thought," she deflated at that," fortunately, that doesn’t really affect our surgery, it’s just going to be a bit more challenging and time-consuming."
"Will she be able to stay unconscious for long? My darling is a tenth-star knight, and she rarely stays unconscious despite using the strongest medicine. "
She asked worriedly.
"That is what has also been worrying me, young master, I do not wish to wake up while you are in the middle of cutting my face."
I turned to my patient and smiled reassuringly.
"You do not have to worry about that, I have the best anaesthesia you could find in the kingdom."
I said confidently. With all the zelph flowers I had gotten in that cave, that wouldn’t be something to worry about.
"Master everything is ready. "
I stood and walked to the changing area. Luna guided our patient to the small, isolated operating room we had hurriedly built the night before.
"Is she unconscious?"
I asked Luna the moment I entered the makeshift. Luna nodded.
"I hope this goes well; the damage to the skin and nerves is worse than I said."
I said to Luna and took the small Scapel from her hand. I tried to cut into her skin but the scapel wouldn’t. Despite the skin having the texture of normal burnt skin, it was harder than I thought.
What a good find.
"Will this be a problem?"
Luna asked sceptically and touched her skin.
"No, I’m just going to reinforce the scapel, that’s all. If the skin is hard, just make the knife sharper and harder. "
A small spell appeared on the scalpel before I tried to cut into the skin. It worked this time, the scapel went through the skin easily.
We officially started our grafting, softly removing the upper layer and making sure no blood vessels or nerves were damaged.
Luna by my side wiped the sweat that occasionally formed from all the concentration
Five sand glasses later, the face was without any of the damaged skin.
"Get me the skin."
I said to Luna after confirming everything was okay. I couldn’t leave the flesh exposed for too long or it would start to heal.
Luna brought the tank near me and opened it. I dipped my hand into the solution and took the skin out. I had made it from the picture and made sure it looked like her as much as possible.
I aligned the skin slowly, making sure everything was in place before I started fitting. This was the most crucial part, it was like molding a doll. If you mold it badly, the face will be crooked, or the proportions will be off.
"The healing potion."
I said to luna though my concentration.
"Master."
"Just drop a few at the edge of the skin."
She did as I instructed. The patient had already started to heal in her own albeit slowly.
"Why don’t you just fully heal her master?"
Luna asked curiously.
"Remember when I recreated your face?" She nodded, "How long did it take to heal?" 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶
"Three months. "
Her eyes widened as she started to understand what I was getting at.
"The face is a very delicate place; if we rush its healing, the nerves and blood vessels might not fully connect or adapt to each other since we are adding something completely foreign to the body."
Luna nodded at my explanation.
"We’re done, bandage her up, she should be waking up soon. I’ll go talk to Miss Darlene, I can feel her worry here."
I left the room after cleaning up all the blood and walked to Miss Darlene, who was waiting anxiously. The moment she saw me she speed walked towards me and came to a stop a step from me.
"Is she going to be okay young master?"
She asked me worriedly, her eyes frantically looking towards the room I had come from.
"Everything was a success, you just need to take care of her during the healing process, and don’t let her use healing potions too much. Just a few drops in the morning and evening. She should be as good as new in over a month. "
She sighed a sigh of relief then her eyes widened.
"You’re awake. "
Luna walked out of the room with Angeles behind her, face fully bandaged.
