Chapter 50: 2.20 No Longer Needs Me

"Oh?" Jeffrey blinked, his lips curled up even more yet Theodore couldn’t help but think there was something more to it in his smile. Somehow, it provoked him. "I have heard a lot about the Valmors. Callen Valmor is your father, I assume? He’s a well-known merchant around here." Without waiting for Theodore to reply, Jeffrey once again turned to Lu Yizhou. "How about you, Sir? May I ask for your esteemed name?"

Why was he more polite and courteous toward Raphael rather than himself?! Anger coursed through Theodore like never before. He didn’t understand what he was feeling yet the only thing in his mind was how to hide Raphael away from sight so that this promiscuous man wouldn’t lay his sight on him. How dare he?! Only Theodore was allowed to look at Raphael like that!

"He’s my servant! There’s no need for you to know his name!" Theodore growled angrily, his fur all puffed up as if he had just met his mortal enemy. Disregarding Jeffrey’s stunned expression at his sudden outburst, Theodore reached for Lu Yizhou’s hand and pulled him away. He beckoned to the guards. "You! Go and see what they need. If it’s beneficial, we will sell. If not, ignore them and go!"

Lu Yizhou stared helplessly at the back of Theodore’s head. Even until they got into the carriage, Theodore was still fuming. "What the heck is up with that man? He looks very suspicious. You’re not allowed to get close to him, got it?!" He directed his glare at Lu Yizhou and only withdrew his gaze when he received the vampire’s nod.

What’s with him? Lu Yizhou blinked. Somehow, this reaction of his was very similar to...Ren Zexi. It gave Lu Yizhou an uncanny sense of dejavu. The corner of Lu Yizhou’s mouth curled as he patted the teenager’s head. "Don’t be angry, Young Master. I won’t get close to him."

The short transaction with Gilith was done and they continued on their way. However, it seemed like their destination was on the same path and furthermore, the mountain road didn’t give much of a space for many carriages to pass along, the two groups ended up travelling together; Theodore in front while Gilith tugging behind. The knowledge just made Theodore grow angrier.

As soon as break time was coming and everyone got off the carriage to relieve themselves, Theodore would stick to Lu Yizhou 24/7. Even when he had to go, he still had to bring Lu Yizhou with him. He eyed Gilith—especially Jeffrey—like one would eye another predator who coveted his prey. Lu Yizhou had a lot of fun seeing him get so worked up.

"Aren’t you sick of it?" Jeffrey brushed the bushes away with sword and approached Lu Yizhou, his hair still wet with water from the bath, droplets of it cascading down his body. His blue eyes gazed intently at Lu Yizhou’s side profile that was illuminated by the moonlight, taking in his every blink and inhale. He couldn’t believe that such a gorgeous man could exist. He almost looked inhuman...

Unfortunately, Theodore had to deal with his hygiene and only at these moments he wouldn’t let Lu Yizhou get close to him. Knowing that, Jeffrey chose that exact moment to seek him out.

Lu Yizhou kept an impassive face as if he heard nothing. His Young Master had told him not to get close to this man. Now that Jeffrey approached him by himself, the only thing Lu Yizhou could do so as to not fuel Theodore’s anger further was to ignore him.

Jeffrey wasn’t offended at the slightest and continued instead. "He’s immature, loud and annoying. A typical rich brat who needs someone to wipe his ass." He glanced at Lu Yizhou who still looked like a living doll, muttering. "Why don’t you just join me?"

"...Huh?" That offer was so unexpected that Lu Yizhou couldn’t help but give a response. Join him? Where did that come from?

The corner of Jeffrey’s mouth tilted upward into a lopsided grin. He rested his sword on his shoulder and pointed at his own nose. "Even though I look like this, actually I am quite rich. You’re tall, strong and...honestly, I haven’t seen a man as stunning as you." A low laugh escaped his lips. "I’m reluctant to admit it but you’re even more attractive than me. How about it? If you join my group, I will compensate you thrice the amount of money that brat gave you."

Lu Yizhou frowned. Sigh...he shouldn’t have talked to this man yet he couldn’t resist. "His name is Theodore."

"Huh?" Jeffrey was taken aback.

Lu Yizhou turned to him, his silver eyes held a faint trace of annoyance. "I said, Young Master’s name is Theodore, not ’brat’. I would appreciate it if you act a bit more courteous in front of him. And one more thing, I have never thought he is annoying."

Jeffrey blinked a few times. "You..."

"RAPHAEL!" The sudden roar stole the two’s attention away. Theodore dashed toward them angrily. "What are you doing there with him?!" He glared at Jeffrey and stood in front of Lu Yizhou as if he could hide the vampire this way even though his height only reached Lu Yizhou’s shoulders. "If I didn’t remember wrongly, your group’s area is on the other side. What are you doing here?!"

Jeffrey put up both hands and slowly let out a laugh. He lifted his eyes to look at Lu Yizhou. "My offer still stands until the time when we have to part ways later. Please think about it."

Theodore’s glare didn’t leave Jeffrey’s back until he disappeared from sight. If gaze could kill, the protagonist must have been sliced to pieces like bacon right now, Lu Yizhou mused. Without waiting for Theodore to explode, he said in an attempt to defend himself. "This servant didn’t get close to him."

To his surprise, Theodore didn’t blow up like usual. He kicked the pebble in front of his heel and hung his head low, grumbling softly. "I know. You think I’m stupid enough that I can’t see that?"

Lu Yizhou raised a brow. His young master didn’t get angry? That’s quite unusual. All of a sudden, he felt a gentle tug on his sleeve, hesitant and cautious. Theodore bit his lips and choked out in a strained voice. "W—What are you two talking about?" freёnovelkiss.com

Lu Yizhou vividly felt somewhere inside his heart softened a bit. He grabbed Theodore’s hand and in return, the teenager clasped their hands together tightly. Lu Yizhou bent down until they were at the same eye level and said honestly. "Nothing. He just wanted to recruit me into his group."

"What?!" Theodore’s eyes widened abruptly. That bastard! How dare he try to take Raphael away from him! How despicable! He gritted his teeth, the rims of his eyes reddened. It had taken a whole lot of pride out of him just to ask the earlier question and Theodore couldn’t bring himself to beg Raphael not to go. He was Young Master Valmor and begging didn’t exist in his dictionary. But...what if Raphael really left him because of it? His lips parted, trembling ever so slightly. However, all words got stuck in his throat as he felt the vampire stroking the corner of his eyes gently.

"I won’t go." He said in his usual even tone. However it was that kind of tone that gave Theodore immense relief. He stared into Lu Yizhou’s eyes, his throat all choked up. "Until Young Master no longer needs me, this servant won’t leave."

Theodore clenched his jaw to fight the sudden urge to cry. Slowly, he leaned into Lu Yizhou’s shoulders and hugged the vampire tightly, wishing that his overwhelming feelings would be transmitted just with this.

Silly Raphael... Until he no longer needed him? Theodore doubted that time would ever arrive.

All of a sudden, he felt the vampire’s body stiffen. Theodore lifted his head in confusion. "Raphael?" However he hadn’t gotten any answer yet a piercing gunshot rang through the air, surprising all of the birds and making them fly away in panic.

Lu Yizhou’s eyes sharpened. From the direction of Gilith’s group, he could smell the scent of holy water, blood and...other vampires. Pulling Theodore closer, he said in a grave tone. "Stay close to me, Young Master. It seems like a lot of vampires have arrived." Lu Yizhou had deliberately hid his presence in fear that his identity would be exposed to the oblivious guards so right now, in those vampires’ eyes, they had just found a pack of nice smelling and delicious humans, unaware that their king was hiding among them.

"Young Master! Raphael!" The guards ran toward them with their swords unsheathed. "There are vampires! Please be careful!"

Theodore snuggled into Lu Yizhou’s embrace and snorted. The Vampire King was here with him so what could he possibly be scared about? He even wished that Raphael would order his minions to attack Gilith so that Theodore could teach Jeffrey a lesson. He only refrained from saying his thoughts in fear that Raphael would hate him if he knew.

More and more gunshots rang out and the trees rustled wildly. The atmosphere turned heavy and intense, the pitch black sky and dense forestation just added to the eeriness. The guards took a protective stance around Theodore and Lu Yizhou, ready for the oncoming attack. However, the one who showed up wasn’t a vampire but Jeffrey whose clothes were stained in blood.

Seeing them, he heaved a sigh of relief. "That’s good if you’re okay. Don’t move anywhere and just stay here." He gave a wide prideful grin. "Gilith is created just for this. Our goal is to eliminate every single vampire in the world and we won’t stop until we take the Vampire King’s head!"

Theodore’s eyes widened and his clutch on Lu Yizhou tightened. K—Kill the Vampire King?! That despicable man wanted to kill his Raphael?!
