Chapter 119: Dragon’s Tooth [1]

It was night.

And while most of the world slept, the Demon Lord of Dreadmoor and his new subordinate, Theodore snuck out of the castle as they embarked on the journey towards one of the most famous and dangerous locations in the world.

Dragon’s Tooth was a long distance away from the South where Dreadmoor currently hid as the mountain was the most famous landmark in the East.

With Sir Alfred’s help through a discrete teleportation portal that was erected a safe distance away from the castle, they moved from the South to the East in one jump.

BZZZ!

And finally, Julian laid his eyes on Dragon’s Tooth for the very first time.

They emerged out of the teleportation portal more than a mile away from the mountain, but though it was night, from this distance Julian and Theodore were able to see clearly because of their enhanced perception as a Wolfkin and a Demon.

He already heard about the legend of the tallest mountain in the world, but he never truly felt the weight of it till he saw it for himself.

Dragon’s Tooth looked like the kind of place that legends are built around.

This was a colossal mountain that rose into the sky, disappearing into the clouds like it had no end.

It was not just tall in height, it’s width from end to end was gigantic.

Dragon’s Tooth looked like an entire realm of its own separate from this reality, this was a world where thousands of different species of Qi Beasts called home and roamed, hunted, and survived.

This was a realm that was ruled and colonized by the Dragon Race.

When Julian thought it looked like a realm of its own, he was not bluffing as the mountain was divided into 100 ascending levels, and each level was literally a different realm of its own, layered between land and sky.

From this distance, Julian could see the base of the mountain.

At the base, the land was dark and foreboding, but Julian suspected that this was because it was night.

Probably during the day, from what he saw, this was a land that was lush and welcoming with rolling green valleys, winding rivers, and gentle waterfalls that cascade like silver threads.

Julian was able to see multiple levels of the gigantic mountain before the rest disappeared into the clouds.

The lower levels felt alive, almost protective like the mountain is testing who is worthy to climb higher.

And as the ascent continued, the terrain grew more dramatic.

Julian saw massive cliffs splitting the earth, and vast waterfalls that plunged from one level to another, forming natural barriers between tiers.

Each level is separated by sheer drops, hidden stairways, and sacred passes that were claimed and guarded by creatures and spirits. Julian already read about this in Dreadmoor’s library before embarking on the mission.

Roads snaked precariously along the cliff edges of the mountain, hinting at long-forgotten pilgrimages that met abominable ends here.

Julian couldn’t see past a few levels of the mountain as the rest were obscured by the clouds high above in the sky.

But though he couldn’t see further, he felt the oppression, he felt an innate bloodline suppression that put pressure on his very being like standing in front of an elder of your race.

Julian’s eyes narrowed. ’Is this the distant presence of an Ancient Dragon?’

His eyes gleamed as a certain thought crossed his head. ’When Dragons see me, will they take me as allies or foe?’

His lips curled up slightly. ’Only time can tell’.

Julian no longer hesitated as with his Spear firmly strapped on, he looked at Theodore who had 2 combat daggers strapped to her side. Apart from the 2 primary daggers, she had multiple throwing daggers that were hidden all over her black-themed leather attire.

Apart from her weapons, she carried a massive black bag. The bag was an A Rank Artifact with a massive interior, it acted as their mobile storage.

Julian looked the Witch in the eye and asked. "Are you ready?"

Theodore looked straight at him and nodded calmly.

"Good," Julian nodded. "Let’s move".

They immediately started moving through the rocky terrain, moving closer to the foot of the mountain even as the fierce Eastern winds blew at them, filling the atmosphere with a dreadful cold.

As they got close to the foot of the mountain where the first level was, the Debauchery System finally lit up with a new notification.

DING!

~----~

[You have met the requirements to unlock Level 1 of the serialized system mission: Dragon’s Tooth!]

[Level 1 Mission Name: Clear the Foot of the Mountain!]

[Mission Description: There are tens of thousands of Qi Beasts living in the foot of the Mountain at the first realm. Assert your dominance, intimidate all the Qi Beasts by killing at least 1000 Qi Beasts!]

[Mission Reward: +5,000,000,000 EXP, and +5000 DP!]

~----~

As they walked, Julian quietly paid attention to the thread of System notifications even as his brain whirred, deciding on how best to approach this mission.

Psychological Invisibility!

Partial Invisibility!

With a combination of these 2 skills, Julian moved like a ghost.

Walking beside him, Theodore also moved in an acceptable stealth state having just completed a ritual that gave her stealth. She learned the ritual details from Lilith before embarking on the mission.

When they finally arrived at the foot of the mountain, Julian looked one last time at the lush and verdant realm that was in front of him.

By now, he could already hear the distant howl of Qi Beasts.

Qi Sight!

His qi flared, flowing into his eyes as with his mystical vision to trace qi residue, he observed the entire first level of the mountain.

Julian saw countless number of Qi Beasts, but one factor about them all was that they were extremely weak.

The strongest Qi Beast that he saw was Level 6.

His lips curled into a smile, then he pulled a chair out of his System Inventory and sat right at the foot of the mountain.

Theodore looked at him and raised her eyebrows.

Julian looked at her. "This is your first training task, clear the entire first level of the mountain without my help. Kill at least a thousand Qi Beasts and assert your dominance".

"Don’t worry, the Qi Beasts here are not strong".

"You can handle it".

Theodore looked at him for a few seconds, then she nodded. "Yes, Lord Zaratul". She quietly dropped the big bag Artifact beside him and flexed her muscles, showing her new flexibility as a C Rank Witch.

Theodore unstrapped her twin primary combat daggers, then like a ghost, she snuck into the first level of the mountain.

Bzzz!

Her qi flared!
