Village Doctor's Women-Chapter 58 - 56 Shameless person
In the minutes after Wang Jian left, Liang Xiu was still unsettled. After repeatedly checking her brother’s condition, she walked through the bus to check on the others. This left her completely unsure of Wang Jian’s skill level.
Did he really only intern in the emergency department?
The question floated in Liang Xiu’s mind. No matter how she considered it, it just didn’t seem possible.
All the injured had their bleeding stopped, and even some of the fracture victims had their bones reset. Liang Xiu hadn’t noticed any of it. She hadn’t even seen when Wang Jian had done all these things.
Liang Xiu glanced outside the bus. She had considered going out to help Wang Jian, but one look back at her brother, who could face life-threatening danger again at any moment, made her abandon the idea.
Time flew, and the wail of sirens quickly drew near.
Liang Xiu’s eyes lit up, and she shouted, "Over here! We need help!"
After shouting, she quickly added, "There are critically injured patients on the bus!"
Her words had barely faded when the light behind her was blocked. She turned to see several familiar faces entering the bus.
"Dr. Liang? Liang Xiu?"
"What are you doing here?"
"This is..."
The man speaking to Liang Xiu was bald, his white coat stained with grease from a takeout meal. He had clearly been in such a rush that he hadn’t noticed such details. Behind him were two other doctors from the ambulance, as well as police officers and firefighters.
With a major accident like this, it was natural for a large number of medical personnel to rush over, with police and fire departments in tow.
"Zhao Zhe, thank you for your hard work. This patient was impaled through the abdomen by a piece of metal and has lost a lot of blood. Although the bleeding is stopped for now, he’s not out of danger and needs to be transported immediately."
As Liang Xiu spoke, the others began to assess the situation inside the bus, since emergency care was rarely for a single person. To their astonishment, however, all the injured had already been treated with remarkable competence.
"Dr. Liang, did you handle all this by yourself?"
As Zhao Zhe drew closer, he was stunned to realize the critically injured patient Liang Xiu had mentioned was her own brother. His surprise was quickly eclipsed by admiration. He admitted to himself that he could never remain so calm and methodically treat all the other injured if his own family were hurt. He felt an immediate and profound respect.
Before Liang Xiu could respond, the light inside the bus dimmed again.
The second wave of rescuers had arrived.
The situation inside the bus was mostly under control and only required transport, so Zhao Zhe immediately shouted, "Go check on the other victims! The patients in here are mostly stabilized. We just need two people to stay behind for the transfer. Let’s get them out of here as quickly as possible."
"Right," he added after giving his orders. "We have a critically injured patient here who needs help from the firefighters to cut away the foreign object."
Zhao Zhe hadn’t even finished speaking before the firefighters were in position, the necessary tools already prepared. This wasn’t their first time dealing with such a situation; they didn’t need a doctor’s direction.
The newly arrived team, however, was bewildered.
"This area has been handled too?"
The group of doctors began to doubt themselves, muttering, "What’s going on? The patients outside have also been treated. Is there another colleague on scene?"
After a quick scan of the bus, one of them remarked, "I knew it..."
"It’s all been taken care of. The technique is brilliant—even the fractures have been reset."
"A true master was here!"
Several doctors who noticed the quality of the work began to chime in.
Zhao Zhe, who had been coordinating with the fire crew, heard their murmurs and turned his head toward Liang Xiu. "Dr. Liang, you can reset fractures too?"
"No, no, no," Liang Xiu quickly waved her hands. "I didn’t have the energy to handle that. A younger student from my high school was at the scene. He’s the one who helped..."
"A younger student? What’s his name?"
Liang Xiu was a top graduate of Jiao Da Medical College. Assuming the student was from the same prestigious university, Zhao Zhe wasn’t surprised and asked while continuing his work, "Would I know him?"
"He said his name is Wang Jian."
"’He said?’ So you don’t actually know him? He’s not from Jiao Da?"
"No." Liang Xiu shook her head. "Our medical college doesn’t have an affiliated Chinese Hospital. He’s my high school junior, not a university one."
"Chinese medicine?"
This time, Zhao Zhe was genuinely astonished, even pausing the work his hands were doing. "It was someone from a Chinese medicine background?"
"It seems he’s truly a master. Those silver needles must be his handiwork. Using needles to stop bleeding... I’ve only ever read about that in novels."
"Where is he?"
Liang Xiu froze. "Hm?"
"You didn’t see him?"
Now it was Liang Xiu’s turn to be confused. She frowned and asked, "He should be outside, helping the other victims."
One of the rescuers moving a patient overheard Liang Xiu’s question and replied, "No, we just came from outside. The injured had all been treated, but we didn’t see the doctor who did it."
"We heard it was a young man, though. I thought he was on the bus, but he’s not here either."
"Then where did he go?"
All eyes turned to Liang Xiu, but she could only shake her head. "I don’t know. I thought he went outside..."
"Maybe he had an emergency and had to leave," someone suggested. "Traffic just started moving again, and I saw a lot of private cars driving away."
He left? Just like that, after saving everyone...
Everyone paused their discussion and focused on their tasks, their movements quickening. Saving lives was the priority now. No one pursued the matter further, but the name Wang Jian was now etched into their minds.
It was a case of professionals recognizing true skill.
To be able to treat so many people in such a short amount of time, including some unbelievable bone-setting procedures, was far too impressive to forget.
"Done!"
The firefighter’s voice, accompanied by the SNIP of hydraulic cutters slicing through the steel bar, snapped her attention back to the present.
Liang Xiu saw Zhao Zhe about to touch the silver needle in her brother’s abdomen and quickly stopped him. "Don’t! Wang Jian said pulling out this needle will make the bleeding start again. We’re not at a hospital right now. I’m afraid something could go wrong."
The instruction sounded mysterious, but the very act of using silver needles to stop bleeding was already unbelievable, so Zhao Zhe immediately stopped. "Alright. Let’s get him back to the hospital first."

At the highway exit, a Cadillac was slowly pulling away, surrounded by other cars.
Inside were none other than Wang Jian and Li Shuang. They were in a hurry to get to the train station, so they hadn’t lingered at the scene.
Li Shuang gripped the steering wheel, waiting for the line of cars at the tollbooth to move. He kept glancing at Wang Jian with a strange expression, as if meeting him—or perhaps, the very profession of a doctor—for the first time.
"Xiao Jian, you’re covered in blood."
Like most people in the summer, Wang Jian was wearing a white T-shirt. After treating the injured, it was inevitably spattered with blood, much of which had dried into conspicuous dark stains.
"It’s fine..." Wang Jian glanced down nonchalantly. "It’s not that much. Soaking it in hydrogen peroxide will get it out."
Li Shuang raised an eyebrow, thinking that wasn’t exactly why he had brought it up.
He pressed on, "You were only gone for about ten minutes. Did you manage to help everyone? Did... did anyone die?"
"A lot of people were injured in the crash," Wang Jian said with a small shake of his head and a reassuring smile. "But the silver lining is that they were treated promptly and the ambulance arrived quickly. I don’t think anyone will die."
"Besides, I met a very capable doctor on the scene, so I’m sure there won’t be any problems."
"Oh, that’s good."
Li Shuang breathed a sigh of relief. He had followed Wang Jian out earlier and had helped move several of the injured, getting a glimpse of the gruesome scene. He couldn’t help but feel a sense of shared relief hearing that no one would die.
"We should be at the train station in about ten minutes. We’ll probably be just in time for Brother Xiang’s train to arrive, so there won’t be any delays."
"Thanks..."
Hearing that, Wang Jian suddenly thought that maybe he should have stayed at the scene after all.
The train station was nothing special. It had opened after he’d left for university and served both bullet and high-speed trains. The fastest service to Capital City took only two or three hours.
However, Wang Xiang worked in the south, which was much farther away. The journey back alone would take over seven hours.
This meant Wang Xiang must have bought his ticket last night at the latest. He had intentionally kept his return a secret.
The small-town train station was simple, with just a single exit.
Wang Jian and Li Shuang stood at that exit, craning their necks in anticipation. They waited for half an hour as the sky slowly darkened.
Li Shuang stood on his tiptoes and peered into the station again. Several trains had already come and gone, but there was still no sign of Wang Xiang. He pulled out his phone. "This is Brother Xiang’s train number, right?"
Wang Jian leaned in to look at the screen and nodded. "That’s right."
"This train arrived half an hour ago. How could we have missed him?"
Puzzled, Li Shuang turned toward the ticket office. "You wait here. I’ll go ask the staff over there."
Wang Jian nodded and took out his phone to send Wang Xiang a message on WeChat.
The chat window showed several messages from Wang Jian, starting from half an hour ago, but Wang Xiang hadn’t replied to any of them.
A sense of unease began to creep over Wang Jian when his phone suddenly rang. The caller ID showed Li Liping’s name.
As soon as he answered the call, Li Liping’s crying voice came through. "Wang Jian... where are you? Why aren’t you at the clinic?"
"What’s wrong? Don’t panic, just tell me what happened."
"Your brother’s back! He’s hitting Sister Qian! You have to come back, quick! I... I can’t stop him!"
