Chapter 207: 201 Cai Qiong’s Happy Moment

"What?"

Cai Qiong was completely dumbfounded. She stood frozen, staring at Wang Jian’s serious expression, unsure how to respond.

"Me and your sister-in-law? Me and Sister Qian?"

What on earth was he talking about?

Now Cai Qiong was truly stupefied. This wasn’t the shy kind of shock she’d felt when she suspected he was about to confess; this was genuine bewilderment.

"You snuck into my room this late just to tell me this?" After regaining her senses, Cai Qiong grew annoyed. Frowning, she stared into Wang Jian’s eyes and repeated, "Just for *this*?"

Wang Jian opened his mouth but said nothing. Just as she finished speaking, Cai Qiong pushed forward, sitting right on his lap to face him.

Looking at the stunned man before her, Cai Qiong finally understood. So, this whole time, he had thought she was a lesbian. He had never once seen her as a normal woman. No wonder he’d said something so outrageous. What did he mean, she and Xu Qian were "impossible"? What did he mean, he "wouldn’t help" her? If she really did like Xu Qian, would she even need his help to pursue her? It was completely demeaning. Who wouldn’t be furious?

Cai Qiong’s own feelings were already quite obvious. She had assumed Wang Jian would have noticed long ago. Even if he hadn’t fully realized it, surely he must have sensed *something*, right? He couldn’t be completely oblivious. Otherwise, why would a girl stay over at someone else’s house every day? It wasn’t like she was homeless.

Sigh! If only I hadn’t told him I’m a lesbian. Things probably wouldn’t be like this now.

Looking into Wang Jian’s eyes from so close, all of Cai Qiong’s anger suddenly vanished. She could clearly feel his warm breath on her skin.

"What... what are you trying to do?" Wang Jian didn’t dare look at Cai Qiong, let alone stare directly into her eyes. This woman was trouble.

"..."

What to do?

A good question...

The thought flickered through Cai Qiong’s mind. She tried to form a response, but for some reason, her mouth seemed to have a will of its own, refusing to say what she was thinking.

Wow, his skin is so nice. How have I never noticed that before?

Cai Qiong swallowed hard. Her lips felt dry, even though she had just gotten out of the shower. Maybe she was just thirsty. She felt an undeniable pull toward Wang Jian’s lips, which seemed to be getting closer and closer.

As for his question—what did she want to do?

Cai Qiong murmured, "I’m a little thirsty."

"Then you should drink some water..."

"Alright."

Their lips met. Her lips felt a bit cold to him. His felt soft and warm to her.

The moment Cai Qiong sat on his lap, Wang Jian knew something was wrong. Her expression alone was telling him everything. It was just that this revelation from Cai Qiong had come as a complete shock. He had thought she was staying at their house because of Xu Qian. He’d assumed she was always helping him for Xu Qian’s sake, too. After all, it was no exaggeration to say Xu Qian could charm both men and women. Besides, he and Cai Qiong had always gotten along so well, with no awkwardness between them. It felt more like they were brothers. And if they were like brothers, sharing a similar taste in women wasn’t strange. He had turned a blind eye to it before, but he never, ever expected this.

When their lips touched, Wang Jian was taken aback.

"Wait..." Wang Jian quickly came to his senses and gently pushed her back a little. "What is this supposed to be?"

"Hmm?" Cai Qiong opened her eyes, a blush just beginning to creep onto her cheeks.

"Don’t you like women?" Wang Jian asked, clearing his throat twice. The residual warmth on his lips kept stimulating him, causing a physical reaction he couldn’t hide. It was awkward. "I’m a man, you know?"

"..."

Cai Qiong shot him a look, her face turning an even deeper shade of red. She was only wearing a thin silk nightgown, so she could certainly feel his reaction.

Yes, very much a man. She knew.

Ignoring Wang Jian’s foolish question, Cai Qiong leaned in again. Just like before, she couldn’t hold back. She felt that if she continued to be reserved, this man would either decide she was too much trouble or play dumb and send her away. Rather than let that happen, she would be proactive.

Wang Jian was only in a T-shirt and shorts. Being teased by Cai Qiong like this was like pouring gasoline on a fire. What little rationality he had left was tossed aside. Everything else could wait.

The moment his hands settled on her slender waist, Wang Jian was lost.

That night, Wang Jian almost didn’t make it back to his own room. But he finally understood one thing about Cai Qiong: the woman was a liar. Not only was she not a lesbian, she was a complete vixen. Just like the books say, beautiful women are all deceptive. It wasn’t a lie.

When Wang Jian returned to his room, his legs felt surprisingly weak. Given his current physical condition, it was easy to imagine what he’d just been through to end up like this. That woman... he, Wang Jian, admitted defeat.

「The next morning」

Wang Jian woke up particularly early, leaving the house even before Xu Qian. He didn’t dare face Cai Qiong. Especially with Xu Qian around, he had no idea how he could face both women at the same time. It was as nerve-wracking as seeing a ghost. He’d never felt this way with Li Liping.

Wang Jian chose to slip away, deciding to hide for as long as he could.

She’s not some monster. Why am I so afraid of her?

The self-reassurance did little good. With a complicated mix of feelings, he slowly made his way to the village committee entrance, praying that he wouldn’t run into Cai Qiong today. 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖

The village committee office was different than usual. It seemed the village chief, Li Dayu, had arrived extraordinarily early. Before Wang Jian even stepped inside, he could hear people talking in the courtyard and the noisy sounds of things being moved around.

His confusion hadn’t cleared when a person carrying a camera walked out of the yard, nearly colliding with him.

"I’m sorry."

"My apologies, I didn’t see you there." Angel set the camera down, startled. The last thing she wanted was to break a camera before they even started filming. If that happened, she was sure the news would be all over the station by the afternoon. Thankfully, the camera was safe.

Though she had apologized, Angel only turned her attention to the person she had almost run into after making sure the camera was undamaged. At first glance, she recognized him.

Wang Jian’s appearance wasn’t particularly striking, at least not from his photograph. But seeing him in person, Angel felt he had an exceptionally clean, almost ethereal aura about him. It was a quality that didn’t seem to fit a doctor working in a village; it was more in line with the profile of a doctor working in Capital City. As for his features, what impressed her most were his eyes.

"You’re Wang Jian, Doctor Wang, right?" Angel smiled, setting the camera aside and extending her hand. "I’m Angel, the person in charge of this documentary shoot. You must have heard about it."

"Oh!" Wang Jian was surprised. He had thought she was just a camerawoman, not the one in charge. "Hello, hello. It’s nice to meet you. I didn’t expect you all to arrive today."

"You’re here early," Angel praised, leading him inside without waiting for a reply. "We thought you’d be in later. We were just about to head out to shoot some scenic shots we can use."

"I should be the one saying that," Wang Jian replied as he entered the courtyard. He saw a group of strangers wearing badges, already setting up cameras in various spots. Clearly, Angel and her crew had been here for a while—much earlier than he had anticipated. It was his first time seeing such proactive television people.

Wang Jian glanced at his phone. The time was just past seven in the morning. The sun had barely crested the mountain to touch the foothills, and the world was just beginning to wake. Even the villagers were only now heading out to the market.

"Does your documentary team always start work this early?" Wang Jian asked admiringly. He then added, "I usually don’t get here until nine, but I woke up early today and came straight over."

"Is that so!" Angel laughed. "During the actual filming, we’ll follow your schedule. Today is just the first day, and we need some establishing shots, so we won’t be filming you the whole time."

"That’s perfect." Angel’s explanation was a relief to Wang Jian. Just to be sure, he asked, "Your filming won’t interfere with my work treating patients, will it?"

"Of course not," Angel said, nodding as if it were obvious. "We’re recording a documentary, not shooting a movie. We’ll film you just as you are. You can act like we’re not even here. If we have any interviews, we’ll schedule them during your free time. We definitely won’t get in the way of your work."

Afterward, Angel took Wang Jian on a tour of the courtyard, introducing him to each of the crew members.
