Village Doctor's Women-Chapter 142 - 137 fell into the ditch
Li Dayu was watching the door for Wang Jian, but he never expected that inside the clinic, an awkward yet heart-stirring scene was unfolding.
Wang Jian endured a double assault on his senses of sight and hearing. Though it was torment, he successfully helped Ren Yu feel the sensation of Qi. Once he succeeded, he let out a sigh of relief.
Ren Yu also let out a huge sigh of relief. She lay sprawled out on the operating table, looking as if she had been laboring in the fields from dawn to dusk, completely drained of energy. On the operating table, there was a large wet patch. It was impossible to tell if it was sweat or something else.
It was a good while before Ren Yu finally came to her senses.
With her face flushed, Ren Yu asked Wang Jian, who was standing beside her, "Brother Jian, is that it? How did it go?"
"Hahahaha, we got lucky." Wang Jian chuckled. He looked at Ren Yu with a smile and said in a low voice, "I’ll teach you a few standing postures. Your experience will be even more pronounced. The Tai Chi Stances will help you build your physical strength and enhance your Qi sensation."
Wang Jian had Ren Yu get dressed, then taught her a few Tai Chi Stances. He then came to her side, extended his hand, and said, "Here."
Seeing Wang Jian hold his hand out to her, Ren Yu froze. "What for?"
"Give me your hand!" Wang Jian glared at her, grabbing the young woman’s hand. While she was still completely bewildered, he inserted a silver needle into it.
This completely shattered Ren Yu’s fantasy. She had thought Wang Jian wanted to hold her hand like a couple.
It seemed the last time they had held hands was when they played house as children. Damn it!
Ren Yu’s face had been red the whole time, so the change wasn’t visible. In reality, her mind was racing, making her face burn.
In the next second, however, the warmth spreading from the needle captured her attention.
"What’s this?"
Previously, she had only felt a warm sensation, but now... Ren Yu felt a tangible flow of Qi coiling around the silver needle, frequently stimulating her acupoint.
Seeing the change in Ren Yu’s expression, Wang Jian knew she had felt it. Everything he had just done had magnified her perception of Qi, so she noticed the shift immediately.
Wang Jian smiled and said, "When your Qi becomes stronger and you can guide it to do what you want, I’ll teach you this method of manipulating needles with Qi. Then, I can also teach you the Ancient Medical Skills, and many complex diseases won’t be so difficult to treat anymore.
"However, you aren’t capable of that yet. You can only feel the Qi; you probably can’t control it. So, you’ll need to practice these stances every day."
"Do I have to practice every day?" Ren Yu asked with a wry smile. She had watched Wang Jian’s movements; though they seemed simple, she knew the difficulty was in holding the poses.
Practicing every day was certainly difficult, and Wang Jian knew it. He simply nodded and continued, "If you want to become as incredible as I am, you must practice every day.
"Besides, there are many benefits. Not only will it strengthen your Qi sensation, but it will also improve your health and fitness.
"It might even preserve your youth and prolong your life."
As he said this, Wang Jian distinctly noticed Ren Yu’s expression brighten. The thought of practicing every day had seemed daunting, but the possibility of preserving her youth gave her all the motivation she needed.
Wang Jian struck while the iron was hot, adding more fuel to the fire. "Remember my master? Take a guess. How old do you think he is?"
Ren Yu was taken aback. After a moment of thought, she hesitantly guessed a number. "Fifty?"
"HAHAHAHAHA."
With a look that said ’I knew it,’ Wang Jian laughed as he revealed Xu Changqing’s true age. "My master is over seventy. To be precise, he’s seventy-eight. He’s an elder who survived the war."
"???" 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮
Ren Yu’s already large eyes widened into saucers, her face an open mask of shock. "Really? You’re not pulling my leg, are you?"
"Of course, it’s true." Wang Jian chuckled lightly. "Qi is actually a kind of Life Energy. If you can practice to a certain level, it’s normal to grow younger as you live longer."
He said this, but in all his years, Wang Jian had only ever known his master to achieve such a feat. Furthermore, its rarity implied that not everyone could reach this stage.
Wang Jian didn’t mention this, however. He believed that even if Ren Yu couldn’t reach his master’s level, she could still achieve some rejuvenating effects.
After receiving his confirmation, Ren Yu was simply stunned. It was as if she had just seen a Cultivation Skill, an experience that rocked her worldview.
Just then, a knock came from the clinic door. Li Dayu’s urgent voice came through.
"Xiao Jian! Is the medicine ready? There’s an emergency."
KNOCK. KNOCK. KNOCK.
"Grandpa Yu fell into a ditch at the village entrance! Come and take a look, quick!"
Li Dayu’s voice was hurried, and Wang Jian could also hear other people in the background.
But hearing the voices, Ren Yu had the strongest reaction. Only then did she realize she wasn’t dressed yet. With a soft cry, she darted to the side to put on her clothes. As she ran, two mounds of flesh bounced with the motion.
Wang Jian touched his nose, his gaze inadvertently drawn to her. He allowed himself another glance before awkwardly shifting his eyes away and whispering, "It’s okay, don’t panic. I’ll go out and check. You just stay inside."
Ren Yu nodded. It was the only option. If anyone saw her like this, they would definitely get the wrong idea. If there was one thing the village excelled at, it was spreading rumors.
By tomorrow, the story could be that she was having Wang Jian’s babies. The mere thought of this rumor made Ren Yu flush, yet she found herself fantasizing about when she and Wang Jian would truly be together.
Without giving it another thought, Wang Jian turned and walked out, calling toward the door as he went, "Village Chief, wait a moment, I’ll be right out."
When leaving, he was especially careful, slipping out the door and quickly pulling it shut behind him.
Grandpa Yu wasn’t a stranger; Wang Jian knew him well, as they were from the same village. Hearing that Grandpa Yu was in trouble, he quickened his pace.
Li Dayu, who was at the entrance, nearly bumped into Wang Jian. He was startled when Wang Jian suddenly darted out.
"Ah! You’re fast."
Li Dayu made the remark, then immediately grabbed Wang Jian and started to pull him away. "Xiao Yu is still inside watching the medicine, right? Don’t worry about that now. Go check on Grandpa Yu first. Hurry, follow me."
Without giving Wang Jian a chance to react, he was dragged away.
"Luckily, someone was nearby when Grandpa Yu fell into the ditch," Li Dayu explained as they walked. "Otherwise, he might have died without anyone knowing. But he seems a bit out of it, so everyone told me to come get you."
The village was small, so news of anything happening spread quickly. They hadn’t walked far when they saw a large crowd gathered at the foot of a small hill near the village entrance.
With his sharp eyes, Wang Jian spotted two unfamiliar faces in the crowd. One of them, in particular, stood out. As Wang Jian approached, the person looked over, and the change in his gaze made it clear he recognized him.
But Wang Jian was certain he didn’t know this man. Moreover, judging by the man’s clothes and appearance, Wang Jian knew he definitely wasn’t from a nearby village. Next to this man stood a foreigner.
Seeing a foreigner in the village was a rare sight indeed. Wang Jian noticed that aside from those gathered around Grandpa Yu, many of the villagers were staring at the foreigner. After all, it was the first time most of them had ever seen a black person.
Wang Jian could even hear them pointing and whispering amongst themselves. "How can someone be so black? He’s even darker than people on TV. Can his wife even see him when the lights are off? Hahaha. Your mind is always in the gutter. Oh, please, like you’re so innocent. I wonder if what they say about their... thing... is really true."
A few of the women were discussing this unabashedly, even snickering among themselves. If Wang Jian’s hearing wasn’t so sharp, he never would have heard just how brazen the village women could be.
Wang Jian ignored them and pushed through the crowd. He immediately saw Grandpa Yu sitting there with a bewildered expression on his face. He was clearly out of it. Nothing the surrounding people said or did seemed to affect him. He didn’t respond to questions, nor did he react when someone waved a hand in front of his face.
Seeing this, Wang Jian immediately furrowed his brow.
