"Emm, are you back from the study meeting?"

Trevor quickly read through the messages in awe. How could that have happened? He had put his phone on DND during the classes, and had forgotten to change it back after leaving, and now that might have cost him something.

Trevor bowed his head in disappointment. Off course, he was not even going to walk her home today after all; Miss Silvia’s mission was about to end tomorrow, and he had not made any special progress.

Trevor immediately stood up and left Chloe’s place.

"Is there anything wrong, Trevor? Aren’t you at least going to wait for me first?" Chloe called out as she watched him leave the room.

"Sorry, I have something important to get into," he said calmly as he left the room.

He had to go back to school and probably talk to her before classes started. She was indeed his strongest ally for now, he couldn’t obviously afford to lose her.

Definitely he was not in a rush to go explain himself to her like one jerk, but at least he wanted to talk to her for 30 minutes, at least make her feel like a priority.

As Trevor approached school, he received the alert in the Uber he had ordered with a text from Chloe: "Sorry it’s coming late."

He only sighed and didn’t respond to the message; after all, he could already sense her doubts and wasn’t up for any long chat with her over the phone.

he dropped from the Uber; and made it into the classroom. Caroline, as usual, was always early; her hair was nicely made.

He took his seat beside her, and before he could say anything, Caroline turned to him.

"Please, can you come to my house today for a group study?" she said, sounding sweet and sarcastic at the same time.

She was trying to just be sarcastic, but to her shock, Trevor thought she was serious and was already trying to give her reasons why she should reschedule.

"Well, I am so sorry, but I wouldn’t be able to make it. I really have something planned out for tonight. How about we reschedule? How does that sound to you?" Trevor said calmly, but almost immediately Caroline’s expression soured.

"Wait, have I done anything wrong, or maybe you now have a girlfriend, don’t you?" Caroline said rather calmly; her emotions were already flaring.

"No, that’s not it, I just—"

"Yh, I get it. You prefer going on a group study with Chloe than with me. Save yourself the stress," Caroline cut him shut, going right back into her book.

Things were really getting out of hand, and Trevor knew it.
