Vengeance of The Broken Lycan Prince [BL]-Chapter 467: Anger, In The Middle of Cruel Choices
[KOSTA]
"Kosta... It’s okay. I’ll be okay. I promised I won’t leave your side, remember?" Tamiko was forced out weakly, his confusion evident as the pain kept overwhelming him.
He wanted to make things better for his Erasthai, and he knew that he couldn’t. Yet somehow, he still had hope that someone there was listening, someone who had the power over life was listening to both of them.
Maybe a goddess of happiness if the moon goddess was adamant about seeing him suffer.
Maybe there would be a soul even in the afterlife who was praying for them, pleading for their sake and their love. It was a messy state that the prince was in.
Yilena, upon realizing that Kosta was not leaving, resorted to getting Tamiko off the Lycan Chief. It was the only thing she could do that Kosta had refused to let go of.
Kosta was angry.
Way angrier than he had ever been.
This was the kind of cruelty that he shouldn’t have expected from his guardian, yet here he was. His heart was being broken over and over again because the woman swore love and protection to him.
The woman who swore to be there for him.
The woman loved him like a son.
Funny how fate had turned them into potential enemies because it was already releasing the lethal pheromones that he damn well knew were dangerous to Yilena.
The thing is, Yilena was the king’s sister and the most powerful warlock alive in Kawai, but Kosta was mated to the fruit of Liana Nakamura and Zaffuto Hinata. And that made him a little more powerful than Yilena.
It was a dangerous position to be in or even try to utilize in moments like these, but then it wasn’t like Yilena had come to him bearing gifts and handouts on happiness.
Someone had to pay the price for his sorrow, for his Erasthai’s pain, and if that had to be his guardian, then that wasn’t such a hard choice. And Kosta stepped forward, ready to do the necessary, only to be stopped by the king.
The king had to step in because if he didn’t, if he did try to stop Kosta, then they would all lose.
"Stop, Konstantin," the king warned angrily, using his magic to counter Kosta’s. He knew he wasn’t being fair, but until the prince was awake and fully functioning, he would do his very best to try and stay rational.
Zaffuto would try whatever the heck he needed to keep cool because he couldn’t lose his claim.
And Kosta too couldn’t.
"Igor, you need to let Yilena do her job. If she says it is dangerous, then it is dangerous," Sadako said sternly, the warning clear.
Kosta stopped writhing in the king’s arm and turned to focus on the Lycan Lord, who Kosta could swear had threatened his guardian back when the ball was not interrupted yet.
And sadly, Kosta let out a desperate laugh, one that didn’t reach his eyes, given the irony he was being forced to deal with. Even the universe was never supposed to be this cruel, but what the fuck was he even dealing with right now?
"YOU... are telling ME... to calm down? What the fuck?" Kosta said angrily, but then he had realized that he could stay angry at everything and everything and nothing would change.
He had tried to be rational, too, but there wasn’t much that he was left to work with. And that was the unfortunate irony of life being forced to live. A life that didn’t seem to care for what the future would be, and a life that was haunting him already.
He had been hurt, and there was no denying that, but the fact that even through this all, the Hinatas were careful was pissing him off.
Yilena was right here in front of them.
The ultimatum was her doing.
If they couldn’t finish her, then Kosta was ready to volunteer and finish the job.
It could be that hard, right?
"Oh, Kosta..." Tamiko mumbled weakly as he fell unconscious, and that statement alone had Kosta suffering in the king’s arms.
The mad king’s hold on him was so strong that for a moment, Kosta had forgotten that the man holding him was the father of the man he was fighting for, that the king surely had to be feeling the power thousand-fold.
Then again, they were all in pain, weren’t they?
There was no point in constantly stressing the old man out.
For a moment, Kosta stopped trying to get out of the king’s arms and even tried to poke Yilena with his magic. The calm king was all he reminded Kosta needed to understand that he needed to have some faith, even if it hurt.
He needed to see this through because the longer he kept thrashing, the more time he was probably costing them all. That was not what he needed to do at the moment. That was not what the dying prince needed.
"Please don’t die," Kosta mumbled in defeat.
Yilena turned to look at him, her eyes not softening; instead, they were still as cold as they had been.
"Keep your distance, Konstantin. If you want him alive, you must keep your stance. Don’t mean closer," Yilena reminded coldly, and Kosta felt his heart rip into tinier pieces than it had already gotten ripped into.
It was the worst thing that was happening to him, and he hated it.
But this time, he would keep his distance.
He wouldn’t move.
He wouldn’t try to break free.
Only because he was still trying to wrap his head around the fact that there was a chance his kiss with Tamiko had pushed the prince into this state. He was scared of even admitting it out loud.
The fact that Yilena had not mentioned it to him haunted him even more. The ultimatum had been clear, and Kosta had violated the ultimatum. He had forced them into this situation. Gods, was life so fickle for them at the moment?
"You keep telling the kid to step away... what the fuck does that mean?" King Zaffuto asked, irritated. He could understand if Kosta was crowding the prince like before, but the way that Yilena was insistent on doing this was just insane.
Kosta was shaking in the king’s arms, his tears rolling violently down his face. He was desperate to reach out to Tamiko even though he had been told there was no chance for that at the moment.
In defeat, the Lycan Chief fell to his knees right in front of the king. His sobs were in the air while everyone watched carefully.
Danny, who had not said a word since then, had been watching Kosta carefully, and Tamiko too. And the young Lycan Lord hated what was being done to both of them. He hated how love was the tool being used to manipulate them into staying away from each other.
It wasn’t fair, and there wasn’t much that he could say about this because deep down, even he knew that he had no power here. So, the young Lycan Lord just watched in silent pain as the two Erasthais yearned for each other and were still being pulled apart.
"Zaffuto... She has to stabilize the kid. Let her work this out... focus, brother," Sadako said.
