Vengeance of The Broken Lycan Prince [BL]-Chapter 439: Love In Unexpected Places
[KAWAI]
They had won.
The battlefield was now filled with dead Grealor bodies with no one to claim them. It was filled with the dead who had dared to come after the one thing that the dark king cared about the most.
The prince’s happiness.
That was a dangerous move for anyone alive or dead.
And while Sanji had died the previous night after planning all of this, there was a clear message left for everyone. The king would not sit by and watch his son-in-law be used as a pawn in any game of thrones whatsoever.
He would not sit by and watch his son’s happiness derail because someone was courageous enough to try and breach his home. He wouldn’t see his Tamiko sad, and if that ever happened, the realm would pay the price for it all.
And it would be worse than what they had witnessed on the battlefield. It was an unspoken decree by the mad king, and even the master of hell himself wouldn’t try to challenge that.
"Today was intense," a warrior said in passing, a reality that was for many people. It was one that no one truly understood how to deal with yet, because honestly, none of them had expected everything to have happened there.
It was all still surreal either way, and there was no easy way around it.
Because five thousand had come to battle and only two survived of the five thousand. 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺
And it wasn’t that they survived in the best of ways. They had been let go to prepare for more interesting battles.
The Mad King was worse than the devil. There was no debating that at this point.
The royal Council members were far ahead of the warriors, like they were going home to make sure that all was alright. Perhaps because they were yet to close the very portal that the Grealors had used to breach their home.
They had left it open intentionally to lure more people, and now, they had to close it, much to the relief of many of the Lycan warriors.
Sure, the Lycan warriors didn’t lose any of their members, but they knew what lengths the mad king would go to for his son.
They understood how high the stakes had gotten and how only an insane person would try to challenge that which the king had decided for everyone.
"I saw love on the battlefield, the one place where such is unexpected," a warrior mused as he held his torch high like the rest, lighting up the way for the rest of the warriors who were coming behind them.
It was not that hard to tell they were excited, but the way the warrior talked about the battle was just insane.
Then again, he didn’t lie.
They had all seen what had happened. What no one had expected. It wasn’t the kind of shit anyone ran into on a daily basis, and yet now it seemed like the very thing that no one would ever truly be able to understand.
Life wasn’t complex, but in Kawai, love and life were nearly the same.
"It felt like a fever dream, honestly," another warrior added as they walked back home. The night winds had calmed down. The moon was still shining bright, but the torches had maintained their light.
It was as if they were telling those who had stayed in the homes that they were coming back. Announcing their arrival in style. That all of them were coming home. It was their customs and gods; there were days when such were hard to understand.
But now, everyone was probably excited back home, especially since the king had decided that they would walk back home through the forest and not make as much noise for the civilians back home.
He wanted the warrior to digest what they had seen, and frankly, he didn’t even need to think for them to understand anymore.
They had seen it.
They were there. They had witnessed history be changed before them, they had seen the craziest type of shit, and frankly, there was no way to put it in even the simplest terms, because simile was an understatement of the battlefield they had survived today.
Fuck, was it the scariest piece of war they had ever had to be a part of?
"Did you see the couple of the day?" Another set of warriors spoke behind the prince and his Erasthai.
Kosta looked worn out.
He looked like he needed a million years of sleep after this; he looked so stressed out, and more than anything, his eyes had stayed on Tamiko the entire time.
It was like he was scared he would lose the prince again.
Like he was worried about what life would be like for him, he wasn’t sure that he would be able to live a life without Tamiko, especially with all that was hanging in their head, but now, he just wanted to go to bed and hug his Erasthai to sleep.
Surely it wasn’t that hard as asking for him, right? Surely the fates would understand, given the intensity of the fifteen-hour battle and all that had taken place, too, no?
"Anyone with eyes saw them, man. I never thought I would see the day Chief Kostantin ever went on his knees and looked terrified like that," a warrior said, and the others agreed with him.
Kosta was strong, always. He never let his emotions get the better of him, but today he had let them see right through him. He had let them see the fear he had of losing Tamiko.
He had let them watch what it was that was in his heart and mind. And gods, was it something that still scared the mighty barbarian? No one had ever seen him like that, but perhaps it was the cost of love.
The price of their union in a time when no one ever truly understood anything. Perhaps at the end of the day, that was all they would have to go by, because there really wasn’t another explanation of the chaos that had happened.
"The way he fell to his knees faster than we all could blink when Prince Kaito fell. That is the kind of love that scares even the devils themselves," the first warrior added as they watched the prince and his Erasthai walk ahead.
This was not how the duo had imagined shit would be, but the battlefield had opened the eyes of most of the warriors. They had seen it themselves that the couple would do whatever it took to save each other, and them.
That the couple would burn the world down just to see Kawai stand.
They loved them for that. When they saw that love, it was a marvel for them because frankly, that was a phenomenon that no one had ever seen; it seemed so unrealistic and crazy, yet it was their reality.
They had witnessed it.
They had seen how shit had gotten, regardless of what was there with them. And now, it was not just an illusion anymore. Now it was more than that. It was proof of love, and they had so many damn witnesses to it.
