Venerable Demon King & The Doting Immortal (QT)-Chapter 662: She’s worse than the twins
Han Xin’s glare was a blade honed by fury, his eyes locked onto the elder immortal who had dared to threaten his son. The tension in his jaw was visible, his fists clenched so tightly his knuckles blanched. If no one stood in his way, he would’ve shattered the council member’s skull without hesitation. The immortal, cloaked in centuries of pride, felt a chill crawl down his spine, a rare sensation for one so ancient. Han Xin’s wrath was palpable, divine, and deeply personal.
Han Jun stepped forward, voice calm but firm. "Give him to me," he said to Xiang Yu.
Xiang Yu hesitated, arms tightening protectively around Han Jingxi. His lips pressed into a thin line. "I don’t—"
Han Jun interrupted gently. "Trust me. I will protect him, just as I protected Han Xin."
Xiang Yu bit his lip, torn. But then he glanced at Han Xin, whose nod was quiet but resolute. With a reluctant breath, Xiang Yu released his grip.
Han Jingxi, sensing no fear, reached eagerly for Han Jun. Despite being a little monster around strangers, he was an angel with those he loved. It was as though he could sense who his family was.
Han Jun cradled his grandson, eyes misting. Han Jingxi reached up and touched his silver hair, twirling it with fascination. Han Jun smiled so wide it nearly broke him.
He carried the child to the altar and knelt, facing the vast sea of eternal lanterns. The lanterns flared brighter, and threads of ashen light slithered toward Han Jingxi, their divine aura heavy and oppressive.
Everyone braced for tears.
Xiang Yu’s body tensed, ready to unleash fury if anything went wrong.
But Han Jingxi giggled.
He chased the lights, squealing with delight, and the threads danced around him like playful spirits.
It was unbearably cute—and utterly miraculous.
Han Jun stood up his voice ringing with finality. "There you have it. This little one is even more pure than all of you combined. Let’s put this matter to rest, shall we?"
A hush fell over the hall, followed by a wave of murmurs that rippled like wind through sacred trees. Divine immortals leaned toward one another, nodding with approval, their expressions shifting from suspicion to admiration. Who wouldn’t want the strongest being in existence, a child of divine clarity and raw power, on their side?
At the heart of it all, Han Jingxi sat on the ceremonial cushion, biting his tiny fist, drool glistening on his chin, cooing with delight as if unaware he had just silenced an entire realm.
Han Jun dismissed the gathering with a wave of his hand, robes billowing like storm clouds. He strode toward Han Xin and Xiang Yu, eyes gleaming. "He’s so clever," he said, voice softening.
Han Xin’s mother stepped forward, arms outstretched. "Come here, little Xi Xi."
Han Jingxi squealed with joy, reaching for her with chubby arms. She cradled him with practiced ease, her eyes glowing with affection. "Want to come with Nana? I made food for you. Let’s go."
Xiang Yu, Han Xin, and Han Jun exchanged glances. It became clear in that moment that she was going to monopolize the baby. And none of them could stop her. Jingxi nestled into her shoulder, babbling happily.
The three men followed behind like loyal attendants, helpless against the charm of the divine realm’s tiniest lord. Jingxi might as well be the divine emperor.
When they stepped into the bedroom she had prepared for Han Jingxi, the silence was deafening. Their jaws slackened, eyes wide with disbelief. They had thought the twins were obsessed—hoarding gifts, crafting enchanted toys, and fussing over every detail of the child’s comfort. But this... this was on an entirely different plane of devotion.
The room was vast, carved from moonstone and veined with threads of starlight. Every inch radiated warmth and protection. Swaddling Robes of soft, radiant fabric hung neatly in rows, each one imbued with layered blessings to ward off curses and shield against spiritual interference. Halo Hoods shimmered with celestial embroidery, Booties stitched with phoenix down, Amulet Bibs that pulsed with quiet energy, and Cradle Cloaks woven from dream-silk—all arranged with reverent precision.
Toys filled the space like offerings to a young deity. A Celestial Rattle rested on a velvet pedestal, its harmonic tones capable of calming tantrums. Plush guardian beasts lined the shelves, enchanted to awaken at the first sign of danger. The Puzzle of Realms shifted shapes in real time, teaching the baby about the planes of existence. The Orb of Echoes glowed faintly, filled with ancestral laughter, and the miniature Shrine Blocks were stacked like sacred bricks, ready for ritual play.
Crowns, circlets, and divine regalia gleamed from glass cases. Even divine weapons, scaled to Jingxi’s age, were tucked safely in enchanted drawers.
And at the center of it all, beneath a canopy of floating lanterns, was a pedestal awaiting Han Jingxi’s portrait.
Everyone: "..."
They were stunned into silence.
Even Xiang Yu blinked, unsure whether to be impressed or mildly terrified.
"She’s worse than the twins," Han Xin whispered.
"She had lost her mind," muttered Han Jun. And honestly... he might not be wrong. 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞
Han Jingxi burst into the room like a comet of joy, his tiny feet pattering across the polished floor as he zoomed from one enchanted toy to the next. His silver hair bounced with every gleeful sprint, and his giggles echoed like bells in spring. He was a whirlwind of delight, like a puppy with zoomies, darting between plush guardian beasts and celestial rattles, leaving trails of laughter in his wake.
His nana, regal, radiant, and utterly smitten, chased after him with a smile that could melt glaciers. Jingxi was so enthralled by her presence, he seemed to forget he had two doting dads at all.
Han Jun sat beside his wife, blinking at the room filled with divine regalia, enchanted puzzles, and protective garments. "When did you prepare all this?" he asked, half in awe.
She didn’t even look up. "What did you think I was doing all this time?"
Han Jun scratched his head. "I thought you were meditating... or at the spa. I didn’t want to disturb you."
She chuckled, eyes twinkling. "I was plotting to win our grandson’s affection over you."
Han Jun laughed, pinching her cheek playfully. "You sneaky woman."
She turned to help Little Xi Xi with the Puzzle of Realms when Han Jun leaned in and whispered, "Would you like to make another one?"
His wife: "..."
She grabbed the padded hammer meant for Jingxi and smacked his arm. Han Jun, unfazed, gasped dramatically. "Ahh! Baby, I was wrong!"
She tripped him with a flick of her foot, and the two tumbled to the ground in a flurry of laughter and mock scolding. "You crazy old man!"
Jingxi giggled, handing Nana a block handing her ammunition. It was though he was saying hit him with that one. She took it with glee, and together, grandmother and grandson launched a playful assault on Grandpa.
Xiang Yu and Han Xin stood frozen.
Han Xin whispered, "I think we shouldn’t be here."
Xiang Yu nodded. " You think?... Take our son and let’s go."
Han Xin snatched Jingxi mid-giggle. "You know where to find us."
It was a good thing they escaped because that playful skirmish was about to turn into something far more chaotic (*wink *wink)
