Vampire Nightlife-Chapter 142 City Of Nyx
?"This is it–Nyx City is coming up." Theodore called out to the group as a beautiful large citadel-like structure appeared before them, sprawling thick walls that rose high above them.
Alexei momentarily lowered his blood bag and gawked. "That's a really big one. Is it even really a city or something bigger?"
"Perhaps a metropolis might fit it better." Chaerin offered.
"No kidding."
"But it does remind me of Lux." Stacy eyed the city with some reserve. She couldn't help but imagine all the number of Vampires that were no doubt present in such a place like it and couldn't fully appreciate the structure.
Its design was something similar to the city of Lux, or perhaps it was the fact that the city of Lux was the one who formed itself to be identical to it.
Lukas focused on the city's covering that reminded him of retractable roofs of stadiums, except in a larger span.
The same could be said for Lux, and once again it reminded Lukas of what could have led to them achieving this level of technological advancement.
Was it magic, tech or a combination of both?
"How long are we going to stay here?" Lukas asked, glancing at Chaerin.
She didn't seem exceptionally stressed or bothered unlike before. Maybe it had to do with the fact that Nyx City was so big that the chances of encountering distant members of her House was an unlikely occasion.
"We'll need to present ourselves as travelers, check for actual repairs that can be done here and mostly refuel." Theodore said.
Lukas was glad that Theodore was mostly a no-brainer guy focused on saving his cousin. It meant that even if Lukas wanted to explore the City of Nyx, he wouldn't be able to do so because of their priorities.
That wasn't entirely a bad thing for Lukas, really.
'Other people also bought Vampire Nightlife, and while I wasn't really able to meet anybody in Lux who seemed human turned Vampire… the chances of someone being like me here in Nyx is a possibility.'
Lukas didn't shut himself off to the chance of that, and yet he was also more focused on the idea of not meeting them. 𝑓𝐫𝑒e𝒘𝚎𝘣𝚗𝘰𝘷𝐞𝑙.co𝑚
Hence why Theodore not wanting to stay here for a long time was a good thing in his eyes.
'Even if we're both formerly humans, it doesn't mean that I can entirely trust them.' Lukas silently thought. 'Just thinking that is completely ridiculous. Knowing what type of people might buy this kind of game might seem like a good thing, but their actions could still be completely different from mine. We're all unpredictable.'
Lukas glanced at Chaerin and Stacy.
In the hands of someone else, they might focus entirely on seducing every single breathing thing that could be classified as a woman. They'd turn themselves into absolute harem and pleasure-focused thrill seekers.
Or maybe some of them would love a single woman, consider them their best 'waifu' and devote themselves to her alone.
Lukas found himself not necessarily leaning into any of the two.
He glanced towards the outside as they approached the entrance of Nyx City.
If they were uninterested in women–which was strange since Vampire Nightlife was a sim date game… they might be more interested in acquiring wealth, strength, power and other things.
The possibilities were endless.
"–Theodore Tenebris, a certified member of the Hunters' Association in Lux City." Theodore tried to keep his temper cool as he offered his ID. "I'm allowed swift passage into any Vampire settlement without question due to my position."
Lukas' attention was caught by the sudden stall in their movements. They were now at the entrance of Nyx City, which compared to its incredible high walls was just a short passageway that still mostly hid the sight of the city itself.
A Vampire was standing outside of the driver's window, and had a careful look on his face.
It seemed like he was doing his job with utmost concern.
"Unfortunately, that only applies to you, sir Tenebris. As for the others in this van, if they have no certifications for travel, they will need to go through the process to gain access to Nyx."
"Even if I claim them as part of my team?" Theodore asked. "They won't be cleared at all?"
"Yes. They will still need to be cleared for a Visitor's Pass"
Theodore let out a deep breath and glanced at Lukas and the rest of the group.
It seemed like Serena Weisse and Emerys di Verdant had almost gotten everything prepared except for this situation.
Something like this would have been easy if it was just Chaerin herself, or even Lukas.
Unfortunately for them, the two Vardoken siblings were present as well.
They couldn't necessarily just lie about their identities either.
"Very well, we'll go through the necessary bureaucracies." Theodore said.
"It'll be this way then." The Vampire then gave directions.
"Thank you." Theodore said.
Once the assassin rolled up the window and moved along, he let out an annoyed sigh.
Lukas and the others didn't think too much of it, until they saw a certain number of Vampires also lined up outside. It was a long line that was enough to put them back for several hours.
"Oh dang, why are there so many people?" Alexei complained.
"Trade, visitors and even people who wish to move in here." Theodore answered as they tried to find a place to park the van. Even that seemed to be more complicated.
Lukas thought that the city of Lux was spectacular, he hadn't explored every inch of it but it probably hosted at least a thousand people or more.
But compared to that, the city of Nyx exceeded it by probably more than five or ten times.
It was nothing compared to the number of people that lived in his city back when he was a human–but this number was incredible.
"If not for the fact that we're going in there." Lukas sighed and eyed the building.
Little did he know that they'd find a way to speed things up drastically.
