Vampire Nightlife-Chapter 135 A New Stage (2)
?Lukas glanced at the Dream Eater in question and sighed inwardly. He could be harsher towards her or something, but because he owed her for the recent victory–he opted not to tell her that it wasn't anything different from back when she was stuck in a crystal.
Either way, the situation was the same.
The mystery in regards to the butterfly insignia was still not solved.
Why he had powers and a weird notification system was related to that, and it meant everything.
At least when it came to Drusilla, it was more or less easier.
Lukas momentarily refocused on the ancient Vampire.
'Forgive me for my insolence for the last day or so, but–I am afraid that even excuses won't work around you. If you could still share your discoveries with me, it would be an honor.' Lukas thought.
Drusilla made a mental harrumph.
"Enough with the baseless flattery and respect when it is clear that you only see me as some tool fit for your shenanigans and missions. I have complained about my inability to control the Dryad, had I not?"
'Yes, yes you did.' Lukas didn't think that she was capable of controlling anyone's blood while stuck in the dagger, but she could have proven him wrong.
"It is simply because I was unaccustomed to dealing with such a creature. As you must know, most Dryads and Nymphs are rare to find in nature, they must have lived for a long time in order to gain consciousness and thus are mostly protected in the past–and not only that, their territories do not really go against say a Vampire's since we prefer those in a community more."
Lukas blinked and resisted the urge to crack a grin.
There were some individuals who probably became wiser and more erudite as they grew, and probably had a magnificent aura or something incredible.
However, some things never changed.
It wasn't exactly rare to find an older person tell stories and also make such excuses to minimize their own flaws and such. ƒ𝚛𝐞𝚎𝑤𝘦𝚋𝓷o𝚟e𝘭.c𝐨𝙢
"Are you listening, Lukas?" Drusilla sourly asked.
'Yes, I am hanging on to your every word, Lady Drusilla.' Lukas said.
Drusilla didn't exactly make a sound of approval–and knew that he was only saying those things to make her share her findings, but she did choose to continue.
"When I was in the grasp of that other girl–"
'Wait, did you reveal yourself to Chaerin?' Lukas asked.
"No. I did not and don't interrupt me when I'm speaking," Drusilla said. "This weapon that contains me is a powerful one and can cut through even the thickness and durability of the Dryad and it is how I came across and sampled her blood."
Lukas smiled. This was what he had been waiting for.
'You said that you couldn't control–'
"I know what I said, but the circumstances are different now." Drusilla haughtily said. "It took me hours of trying to make it flow under my powers but I have finally made it work so on any future encounters–"
'I and the others can expect you to be able to deal with it, it's incredible.' Lukas exclaimed and then slyly added. 'If only you could also teach me these methods. Surely, then this finding will be able to help all of the Vampire kind.'
Drusilla fell silent at those words, because for a moment, she wished to point out that he was anything but a Vampire–his aura spoke to him of such, but then there was the fact that he emulated and exalted their kind as well.
"I am only going to teach this to my progeny, there is a compatibility issue in regards to blood powers. And not knowing your bloodline, the purity of it and such is going to lead us into danger if you take on something that you cannot take. You've spoken of dilution and I've seen it for myself–how has my kind fallen to these levels?"
Drusilla knew there was something else that could have led to such a result.
She wanted to know why, but did not fully trust that Lukas and her would see eye to eye.
'Is there a way for me to measure my blood purity or something then?' Lukas asked. 'And if it's a Sanguise you're looking for, there is a chance that we might be able to encounter one, maybe? Who knows?'
"When we have spoken in the past, you were so confident about being able to bring me news about them." Drusilla venomously said.
Lukas nearly forgot about that. As far as he remembered, Viktoria Cadis from Blood Works said that they've retrieved the Sanguise from a fallen Sanguise Overlord. He didn't think that was what she wanted to hear.
"Um, hey Theodore," Lukas called out. 𝘧𝒓e𝑒𝑤e𝙗𝚗o𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝐜𝐨m
"What?" Theodore frowned as he momentarily looked at the mirror above them.
"So, there's other Vampire cities right?"
"What about them?"
"We're gonna end up visiting all of them right?"
"Some of them, not all of them." Theodore scrunched up his nose. "This is not some kind of field trip for you folks, we're after the Blood Gourd and that's it. We might need to announce our presence to the settlements we'll pass through, but that's about it."
"Any chance that we'll see some relatives of Overlords or something?" Lukas asked.
"Just because we've been sponsored by the Weisse family doesn't mean anything." Theodore grunted. For a moment, his gaze flickered to the Vardokens and he immediately concentrated back on the road.
"That doesn't make any sense." Lukas frowned. There had to be something special about the Weisse House that earned them merit or something. It almost made him wish that he took on some more history.
"The relationship between the other cities tends to have some competition and strife between them." Theodore sighed at last. "Depending on where we come from, it may increase hostility for no apparent reason and they'll inquire as to why we're traveling. It won't look good if they discover that we're looking for a cure."
