Yujun’s POV

The smell of my baby’s milk is stronger today as I hold baby Eunchae to myself, it makes me wonder if my pup is a jealous one, the milk hidden in my jasmine grows stronger every time I pick the baby up.

"It’s time to go" the grandma says, refreshed after having her first good nap in a long time, "Yujun-ah, you are such a nice man! My Eunchae might as well be your daughter!" the woman praises me and I duck my head shyly, unsure of how to react or what to say.

"Goodnight pretty baby" I say as I put the baby down in her cot, but before I can turn to leave, she starts to cry, stretching her tiny arms for me to pick her up again. 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢

"Aigoo, she has fallen love with you" the grandma says and I am tempted to stay here, but it’s late and I missed Jaehyun.

I thought spending the day without my mate would be easy, fun even, but my bond and omega keep calling for him and my chest keeps aching to see him come home to me...especially with how much I felt.

"Eunchae-ya, uncle will see you tomorrow, hmm?" I say to her and she nod, eyes filled with tears and small lips pouted, she’s too adorable, "be good and take your medicine, hmm?" I say and she nods again, saying a small yes.

"Thank you for doing this for me, you are the most delightful young man" grandma says from behind me as I give Eunchae a last goodnight kiss on her forehead.

’I am a delightful young man’ my omega repeats the word proudly and I smile to myself.

"Have a wonderful night grandmother" I say and bow in greetings to her, the elder woman gives me a peck on my cheeks before letting me go, "Ah and the friendly man, Jaehyun-ssi, give him my thanks" she adds.

Jaehyun had left the house to help her fix her creaky gate, he is done with it but hasn’t returned to the house yet.

’Alpha’ my omega says in excitement as soon as I step out of the house and set my eyes on him.

My handsome mate is standing in the darkness with his eyes fixed on the door, guarding it while waiting for me to come out, "let’s go home" I say to him, and he holds me by the waist.

My heart is swollen with overflowing happiness and I can’t help the little giggle that leaves my lips.

"You’re extremely happy" Jaehyun says, speaking softly as we walk back to our own place, "hmm, I am happy" I say in agreement and he keeps his face straight ahead, his hand on me is tight and his body is tensed.

"When will you tell me what happened?" I finally ask.

I have been choosing to act clueless about it since he didn’t want to share yet, but I can feel the suffocating rage through our bond, I had also felt the brief silence of emotions that can only be a giving in to madness.

Something severe happened while he was away from me.

"It’s nothing important, really" he says and sighs, "we have one more day here" he changes topic and I keep staring at him.

Has he realized that doing this with me...mating me was a mistake? Does he want to back out already?

My omega whines softly and I push him down, putting in effort to silence him but it’s hard to act like I’m not hurting when I already bare myself to him.

I stop walking as my legs stop moving.

Jaehyun stops in confusion as well, "What is wrong?" he asks me with a frown on his face, he stands in front of me and looks at me.

The night air is a bit colder tonight, and I shiver as goosebumps appear on my skin.

"I-if you don’t want me anymore...you’ll tell me, right?" I ask him and he makes a whimpering sound at the back of his throat, "fuck, Junnah, why would you think that?" he asks.

"You...since you got back-" I say and he hugs me to himself, pressing my nose into his neck and I shudder again, the cold is getting worse.

"I made you feel that way?" he asks and tear slips out of my eyes and down my chin, "fuck, baby...no, never, I should be the one groveling for you to choose me" he says, cupping my cheeks.

"I don’t even know why I’m crying like this" I mutter and he kisses the spot under my eyes, the place my tears are streaming from.

"I’m sorry" he whispers and kisses me again, "I only want you to be happy" he says like he’s tired of something, maybe not by me but by something.

"Let’s get home, hmm...finish up our ice cream and relax under the moonlight" Jaehyun says and I nod, he holds my hand and as we walk down the pathway, there are crickets making noises and little night crawlers moving around.

"That’s you" Jaehyun says to ease the mood as he points to a small rabbit, "shut it" I say under my breath, still sniffling and he laughs softly.

The air around us is still heavy and raw but we somehow fit against each other perfectly, like we are meant to be, I look at where our hands are connected and let out a small breath of relief...we’ll be fine.

We arrive at our temporary home and Jaehyun is almost back to his normal playful self, he keeps chattering about how I remind him of a stuffed bunny he once had.

"You might sleep outside" I say, standing behind him as he unlocks the door and I put my hands on my belly bump.

Out of habit, I turn around to look at the tree behind us and I see moonlight reflecting off stainless steel.

"What the..." I whisper and walk forward slowly.

It’s a scalpel pinned to the tree, the mental isn’t too deep in the tree, it’s just deep enough to tell me everything I need to know and my scent drops.

I turn around to look at the alpha who is still muttering to himself and struggling with the key and lock of the house.

"Jaehyun, did you meet Chan?" I ask and his head snaps up as his eyes flash red.

"Shit" he curses, giving me all the answers I need.
