Chapter 19 - 19: Cafeteria Confrontation

Seeing that it was actually Logan Whitmore, the dining hall fell into immediate silence.

Logan was an infamous rich bully at the university, and his family seemed to have hundreds of millions in wealth.

Most importantly, aside from having an uncle as a professor, his family also seemed to have connections with higher-ups.

This was the reason why, despite frequently bullying students, he always remained scot-free.

Rex calmly walked past him, completely ignoring his existence.

Seeing all the students' attention on him, and Rex ignoring him like this, he felt extremely humiliated.

It was the first time some dared to ignore him.

Logan's face twisted due to humiliation and anger.

So, he looked at Rex's back and immediately spoke with a sneer.

"Hey, have you finally cried enough?"

Then, he smirked and leaned in slightly, his next words dripping with malice:

"No wonder your parents died—they probably couldn't bear to raise a failure like you."

A few gasps immediately rippled through the crowd.

But Logan wasn't done.

"Maybe it wasn't an accident—maybe they just couldn't take living with you anymore."

This time, the silence was deafening.

Rex froze.

It was as if something inside him snapped. A surge of rage shot through his chest; unlike anything he had felt before.

Gasps erupted from the students around them, their eyes widening in shock.

Though it wasn't uncommon for students to taunt and even bully, but insulting someone's deceased parents was crossing the line—it was utterly unacceptable.

"That's too far..." someone whispered.

Many students felt a surge of anger on Rex's behalf. No matter the circumstances, Logan had gone too far.

Just because you had connections didn't mean you could do whatever you wanted.

Before they could react, they saw Rex stop in his tracks and turn around, his movements eerily calm.

But his face was terrifying—his jaw was clenched tightly, and his eyes looked as if a storm was brewing within them.

Before anyone could process what was happening,

CRACK!

Rex suddenly threw a punch straight at Logan's face, landing squarely on his nose.

The impact was absolutely brutal—Logan's nose caved in instantly, blood spurting everywhere as his teeth flew out like broken pearls.

The scene played out in slow motion, like something straight out from a Hollywood movie.

Everything happened so fast that Logan didn't even have time to react.

All he saw was Rex stopping, turning around, and looking at him—his face unnervingly calm, but his eyes glowing an ominous red.

A sense of dread washed over Logan in that brief moment, and for the first time, he actually felt scared.

And that was the last thing his brain registered before everything went black.

His body collapsed on the cold floor like a ragdoll.

A dull thud echoed through the silent hall, louder than it should have been due to the eerie stillness.

It was that very sound that snapped the surrounding students out of their trance.

Seeing Logan lying motionless on the floor, his life and death unknown, a wave of hysteria washed over the crowd.

"Aaagh! H-he... He killed someone!" a girl shrieked, her voice cracking.

"H-he's not moving!" another girl gasped, her eyes wide in disbelief.

"He... he just knocked him out cold!" a student whispered in shock.

Some girls shrieked. Others stared at Rex in shock.

"Holy crap!" a boy exclaimed, his jaw dropping. "Did you see that?"

Another boy took a step back, his face filled with disbelief.

"He just... knocked him out cold with a single punch." A stunned silence followed.

Another smirked. "Serves him right—probably had it coming."

"Wow! Did you see how clean that punch was?"

A few others chimed in, some even looking excited, their reactions completely different from the girls' frightened expressions.

Logan's lackeys, however, were pale, too terrified to do anything.

They instinctively stepped back, trying to blend into the crowd.

And Rex?

He simply stood there, calm as if nothing had happened.

As if it wasn't him who had just knocked someone unconscious.

His stormy eyes swept over unconscious Logan, but his heart was still burning.

He had more to say, more to do—but the bastard had fainted too soon.

His teeth still clenched in hatred.

Looking towards Rex,

The look in the students' eyes changed—most of the boys gazed at him in admiration, while a few wore gloating expressions, though it was unclear whether they were gloating at Logan's misfortune or Rex's boldness.

As for the girls, their reactions varied—some looked at Rex with stars in their eyes, visibly excited, while others were frightened by the violent scene.

Just then—

Thud. Thud. Thud.

A sharp, rhythmic sound of leather shoes striking the marble floor echoed through the hall.

Everyone instinctively turned towards the entrance and saw a balding professor rushing toward them.

Thud! Thud! Thud!

As the sound drew nearer, his appearance became clear.

"Professor Clement..." someone muttered.

It was none other than Professor Clement Whitmore—Logan Whitmore's uncle.

The moment they recognized him, they all had just one thought in their mind,

Rex was done for.

Even though most believed Logan deserved it, they knew that Professor Clement wouldn't care about their side of the story.

Despite his refined and gentle appearance, he was notoriously strict with students and had zero tolerance for misconduct.

If it were another professor, the worst punishment Rex might face would be a suspension or a demerit.

But with Professor Clement?

The best-case scenario was expulsion.

The worst? A lawsuit for assault.

As whispers spread through the crowd, many students looked at Rex with pity.

Meanwhile, Rex remained unfazed.

He, too, saw Professor Clement—his Financial Ethics & Risk Management professor—but unlike the others, he wasn't nervous at all.

Even though those weren't his real parents, the memories and experiences were engraved in his soul.

He would never tolerate someone insulting them.

And don't forget he also has an uncle, who is also Vice-Chancellor of student's affair.

If he knew about this, he would definitely side with him.

But even if he didn't have an uncle, he would still do the same, considering he will spend his life as their son, basking in their wealth and privilege.

In a way, they held more significance to him than his biological parents, who had abandoned him at birth in his previous life.

As Professor Clement approached, the crowd parted instinctively, making way for him.

The moment he saw his nephew lying unconscious on the floor—blood streaming from his broken nose, several teeth missing—his blood boiled.

Logan had been so pampered that even his parents had never so much as slapped him, let alone beaten him.

Professor Clement took a deep breath, attempting to compose himself, but his rage erupted anyway.

"Who did this?!" He roared

"Who dared to assault his fellow student in broad daylight?!"

His furious gaze swept across the crowd, searching for the culprit.

But strangely, no one spoke.

No one pointed fingers.

Even Logan's lackeys kept their heads down.

And Rex?

He just watched, arms crossed, waiting to see what show he would perform next.

Professor Clement's anger flared even more at the silence.

Just as he was about to explode, a thought struck him.

He scanned the room before locking his eyes on a thin, nervous-looking student.

"You!" he barked, pointing directly at him. "Yes, you! Weren't you the one who called me about a fight? Tell me—who did this?"

All eyes instantly zeroed in on the student like a radar.

Rex also turned his attention to him, raising an eyebrow in slight surprise.

It was actually Andrew Hall—One of his previous self's so-called "friends".

They had always gotten along, mostly because Rex had been generous, often treating Andrew and others to meals and drinks.

Seeing Andrew avoid his gaze, Rex immediately understood.

This wasn't about helping him—Andrew had called the professor for Logan.

His past self had been naive, trusting them too much.

But as someone who had lived another life, he could now easily tell who a true friend was and who wasn't.

Meanwhile, Andrew internally cursed himself.

Why was he so nosy?!

Earlier, seeing that the situation was about to escalate, he had only called the professor to curry favor with the Whitmore family.

But who would have thought that this bastard would point him out publicly.

Now, he was caught in the spotlight.

Reluctantly, he stepped forward, now that he had already betrayed Rex, he decided to end this matter from the nip, he cruelly thought to himself.

But on the surface putting on a polite, fawning expression.

"Professor," he said, pointing at Rex, "it was him!

Silence.

Then—

"He... he almost beat Logan to death!" Andrew added, his voice trembling.

He Continued:

"Logan was kind enough to ask about his well-being and offer condolences for his parents' death..."

"But he—he suddenly lost control and attacked Logan out of nowhere!"

"He's a madman—he's mentally unstable and could do anything!"

Everyone gasped.

Andrew had already offended Rex, so he figured he might as well go all in and get him expelled.

After all, what did Rex have?

Aside from being handsome and good at academics, he was nothing.

In front of a powerful family like the Whitmores, he was insignificant.

The students were shocked by Andrew's shamelessness.

Rex, however, simply smirked.

But inwardly, he just sighed.

Sighing at the fickleness of the world.

Professor Clement's gaze locked onto Rex immediately.
