Urban Super Soldier King-Chapter 924: Enemy Infiltration in the Dead of Night
Chapter 924: Chapter 924: Enemy Infiltration in the Dead of Night
Seeing Gao Mantang’s proud expression, everyone burst into laughter. To outsiders, Gao Mantang gave off a domineering and unapproachable vibe.
But in front of the younger generation, he appeared kind and amiable. Although he didn’t know much about Xiang Yu and Tie Zhuzi yet, since they were friends with Gao Zhitao, he naturally regarded them as one of his own.
Xiang Yu couldn’t help but secretly admire this old soldier. He had felt some surveillance in the vicinity when he arrived, but he hadn’t expected there to be so many people monitoring the area.
If that was the case, it provided some reassurance. But the Falcon Organization members were maniacs; who knew what they were capable of doing? So, it was still better to stay vigilant.
"I know of a hospital with excellent hygiene standards and high-quality service. Why don’t we go there instead?" Xiang Yu suggested.
Although Gao Mantang had assigned people for protection here, Xiang Yu was genuinely worried about any potential mishaps.
"Are you talking about the Yuran Group hospital?" Gao Mantang asked.
Xiang Yu quickly nodded and said, "That’s right. I’ve got some connections with the dean there. If we transfer over, we’d receive special care."
"Are the nurses there good-looking?" Gao Zhitao smirked.
Hearing this, Tie Zhuzi rubbed his hands and said, "I’m not exaggerating—the nurses there are a hundred times better than the ones here."
Tie Zhuzi was a master braggart, and especially in front of Gao Zhitao, he would exaggerate to the extreme. Since it was their hospital, he naturally hyped it up even more.
Listening to him, Gao Zhitao was so enticed that he turned to Gao Mantang and said loudly, "Grandpa, after careful consideration, I think the hospital he mentioned might actually be the safest option."
Gao Mantang shot his grandson a dismissive glance and said, "Oh, give me a break. Careful consideration, my foot. You just want to flirt with the nurses over there."
Gao Zhitao: "..."
Gao Mantang thought for a moment before shaking his head at Xiang Yu. "I think we should stay here. This is a public hospital, so safety is guaranteed. While the hospital you mentioned has a stellar reputation in medical services and other aspects,
it’s a private facility and profit-oriented. Its safety might not necessarily be better than here."
Tie Zhuzi, standing to the side, got a little worked up and argued, "That place is a hundred times safer than here! Just look at this hospital—any random person can walk in. Over there, that would never happen."
Gao Mantang ignored Tie Zhuzi and merely smiled at Xiang Yu.
Xiang Yu understood his meaning. Since Gao Mantang had already made up his mind, there was no need to press further.
Noticing the slightly awkward atmosphere, Gao Mantang got up and walked out. Everyone else here was young; they had their own topics to discuss. His presence might make things uncomfortable.
As soon as Gao Mantang left, Gao Zhitao immediately pulled a long face and complained, "It’s over. Looks like I won’t get to stay in the hospital you mentioned. Hey, Old Tie, are the nurses there really that gorgeous?"
"Without a doubt," Tie Zhuzi said with a sly grin. "Every time I’m hospitalized, it’s there. I even stayed for a few days when I had a cold, and I got pretty close to several nurses by then."
Hearing this, Gao Zhitao wanted to rush over immediately. If Tie Zhuzi, with his demeanor, could get close to the nurses, then with his own handsome face, wouldn’t he have all the nurses swooning over him?
But with Gao Mantang’s decision set in stone, they weren’t going anywhere, leaving Gao Zhitao feeling a bit dejected.
"Maybe next time." Xiang Yu chuckled helplessly.
If they were at his hospital, Xiang Yu could mobilize more resources to protect Gao Zhitao. But for now, they’d have to rely on themselves here.
By evening, Xiang Yu hadn’t left, and he, Tie Zhuzi, and Xiao Xuan made a round of the hospital to scout the area.
"Big Brother, do you think they’ll come?" Xiao Xuan asked, keeping close to Xiang Yu.
Xiang Yu nodded firmly, his expression grave. "They’ll definitely come. It’s only a matter of time."
Tie Zhuzi didn’t ask who "they" were but followed without a word.
As the three were about to head upstairs, Xiang Yu suddenly felt two pairs of eyes fix on him. He immediately looked in that direction.
But all he saw were two large trees standing there, with nothing else around.
"Could I have imagined it?" Xiang Yu wondered, puzzled.
This skill was something he had honed during his time in the military, where he often carried out missions in the wilderness.
Whether eating or resting, he always had to remain highly alert to his surroundings.
He glanced back at the spot a few more times and, after confirming there was nothing unusual, turned to head upstairs.
"Brother Yu, was someone following us just now?" Tie Zhuzi asked in his deep, rumbling voice.
Xiang Yu nodded. "Did you notice anything?"
"There was a strange smell coming from behind. It should’ve been from a person," Tie Zhuzi responded.
Despite the situation, Tie Zhuzi hadn’t let his nerves show—a testament to how much he had matured.
Both Xiang Yu and Xiao Xuan were impressed by Tie Zhuzi’s keen sense of smell, which was sharper than a dog’s.
"Don’t alert them yet. Let’s head upstairs first," Xiang Yu said calmly before leading the way.
When they returned to the ward, they found Gao Mantang sitting there, peeling an apple for his grandson.
An old man in military uniform peeling an apple for a junior—it was quite a comical sight.
"Let me do it." Xiang Yu took the knife and apple from him. In just a few deft movements, he had peeled the entire apple.
Gao Mantang watched the whole process intently and finally nodded. "Not bad knife skills."
Xiang Yu smiled calmly, then promptly bit into the apple himself.
Gao Mantang and the others: "..."
After taking a few bites, Xiang Yu quickly peeled another apple for Gao Zhitao. Once finished, he turned to Gao Mantang and said, "There are already people in the hospital. You’d better have the guards stay on high alert."
Gao Mantang’s eyes widened. "What did you just say? Someone really dares to come here? Are they here for..."
It was clear he couldn’t believe it. Everyone knew he was guarding his grandson here. He couldn’t imagine anyone daring to go against him in this city.
"Xiang Yu, that’s a serious claim. How are you so sure someone’s here?" Gao Mantang asked, his face serious.
He had a good impression of Xiang Yu, but if Xiang Yu were just making baseless claims, it would be disappointing.
"Just a feeling," Xiang Yu said casually.
Gao Mantang relaxed somewhat upon hearing this. He had thought the situation was more dire.
"Sometimes, feelings can lead to wrong judgments," Gao Mantang said confidently. "My guards may be young, but they’re elites in the military. There’s no way anyone could slip past them. Don’t worry."
Xiang Yu wasn’t one to argue, so he simply nodded.
"Zhuzi, keep an eye on the surroundings," Xiang Yu instructed sternly.
Since Gao Mantang dismissed his concerns, they had no choice but to prepare on their own...
