Urban Super Soldier King-Chapter 815: They Were One Step Too Late
Chapter 815: Chapter 815: They Were One Step Too Late
Mi Hui saw the behavior of the three and finally understood—he had run into some real desperados this time. But he didn’t believe Xiang Yu was acting out just for the thrill; there had to be a deeper reason.
Once they had all eaten their fill, Xiang Yu looked at Mi Hui and asked, "Alright, tell me, where is this guy?"
Tie Zhuzi and Xiaoxuan saw Xiang Yu start discussing business again and were about to step away. Xiang Yu gestured for them to sit down.
The two nodded and sat back down, fixing their eyes on Mi Hui.
"His name is Lin Zhengyuan, he’s in City Number Seven," Mi Hui said. By now, his fears had dissipated; no matter who Xiang Yu might be, he had decided to take a gamble.
City Number Seven wasn’t far from City Number One, the area they were currently in. Known as the "Spring City," it wasn’t exactly a bustling metropolis, but it was still the capital of a major province.
Xiang Yu knew Lin Zhengyuan was in City Number Seven. Commander Cao had forwarded him their approximate location.
"Let’s go, time to move," Xiang Yu said, standing abruptly.
"Now?" Mi Hui asked in surprise. They had just eaten, and he still hadn’t had a chance to take a break before they started moving.
Although City Number Seven wasn’t far from City Number One, it was still over a hundred miles away. The sheer immediacy of their departure was startling.
Tie Zhuzi and Xiaoxuan quickly stood up and went outside to prepare the vehicle.
Once everyone was in the car, Xiaoxuan turned his head and asked Xiang Yu, "Bro, should we say something to Sister Feng Lan first?"
"I’ll call her later. Let’s get moving," Xiang Yu replied. With that, Tie Zhuzi stepped on the gas and the car roared forward.
On the road, Xiang Yu dialed Feng Lan’s number.
"You wouldn’t let me in earlier, so why the hell are you calling me now?" Feng Lan snapped, clearly irritated.
She had wanted to see Xiang Yu earlier but had been brusquely turned away by him, which left her feeling both annoyed and hurt. Now, when Xiang Yu called, her pent-up frustration erupted.
"I need to tell you something," Xiang Yu said calmly.
"I don’t want to hear it. Don’t bother telling me," Feng Lan retorted, still fuming.
"Alright, I won’t. I’ll hang up, then," Xiang Yu stated flatly. Since she didn’t want to listen, there was no point in dragging things out. Relieved he wouldn’t need to explain further, he prepared to end the call.
"Xiang Yu, you big idiot!" Feng Lan finally shouted, unable to contain her anger any longer. Her voice was so loud that Tie Zhuzi and Xiaoxuan, seated in the front, heard her crystal clear.
"You just stop talking when I tell you not to? Huh?" Feng Lan barked furiously.
Xiang Yu held the phone away from his ear, keeping it a good half meter away. When the shouting on the other end subsided, he cautiously brought it back to speak.
Just as he was about to say something, Feng Lan’s voice rang out again.
"Where are you now? I’m coming to find you," Feng Lan demanded.
"That’s what I was trying to tell you. I’m heading out with the two of them to take care of some business. I’ll be back in a couple of days," Xiang Yu responded.
Upon hearing that, Feng Lan fell silent. She realized Xiang Yu must have uncovered some kind of lead and was pursuing it.
She wished she could be with him, but Xiang Yu didn’t seem to share that sentiment. After a brief pause, Feng Lan finally relented and said, "Be careful, all of you. If it gets dangerous, come back as soon as you can."
Xiang Yu grunted in acknowledgment and hung up the call. Initially, he had suspected that Feng Lan’s issues stemmed from some sort of misunderstanding or mix-up.
But the sudden emergence of the Imperial Agents made Xiang Yu feel like this was far more complex than it seemed.
He caught some sleep in the car, and by the time he woke up, they had already entered City Number Seven.
Mi Hui directed them through the city as Tie Zhuzi navigated left and right, eventually arriving outside a residential complex. They stopped near an apartment building.
Just as Xiang Yu and the group approached the building, two men came rushing down the stairs and bumped into Xiang Yu’s shoulder as they hurried past.
Xiang Yu didn’t think much of it initially and only gave them a quick glance. However, something about them triggered his sense of danger.
"Brother Yu!" Tie Zhuzi suddenly called out, his tone urgent. He had caught a whiff of fresh blood on the two men—a clear sign that they had committed violence very recently.
"Stop!" Xiang Yu shouted, no longer hesitating as he turned and chased after the pair.
The two men didn’t look back. They quickly climbed into a car, slammed on the accelerator, and sped off. Their vehicle’s acceleration was fast, and within moments, it had disappeared from sight.
Xiang Yu initially wanted to pursue them, but Mi Hui’s sluggish movements held him up. By the time he got into his car, the suspects were likely already out of the city.
Realizing he’d lost the trail, Xiang Yu turned and sprinted upstairs instead. He reached the fifth floor and delivered a powerful kick to the door, breaking it open.
The door was sturdy—an anti-theft model—but Xiang Yu’s kick had been strong enough to force it open.
Tie Zhuzi and Xiaoxuan followed closely behind. They burst into the apartment and found a man with his face wrapped in a towel, holding a kitchen knife high in the air.
In front of him was a beautiful woman dressed in nothing but a nightgown, her expression filled with terror.
"Please don’t be alarmed, gentlemen. I’m just acting in a play with my wife!" the man hastily explained, pulling the towel off his face.
"Yes, my husband and I were just playing around," the woman added, looking nervously at Xiang Yu and his group. She could tell they weren’t ordinary people, as their appearance radiated danger.
At this moment, Mi Hui finally arrived, panting as he stood in the doorway. "Wrong place—it’s the apartment across the hall," he said between breaths.
Tie Zhuzi and Xiaoxuan: "..."
Xiang Yu maintained his intimidating demeanor as he faced the man. "In the future, don’t play jokes like this; it’s dangerous. Do you understand?"
With that, Xiang Yu walked out nonchalantly and made his way to the apartment across the hall. The door wasn’t locked this time, and the moment he entered, the stench of blood hit him.
He stepped into the bedroom and saw a chubby corpse lying there, eyes wide open, with blood still dripping slowly from the neck.
"We’re too late," Xiang Yu said grimly.
Mi Hui sighed upon seeing the body. He realized how fortunate he was to have encountered Xiang Yu’s group—otherwise, this could have been his fate.
Xiang Yu glanced at Mi Hui and noticed his somber yet composed demeanor. Most regular people would be terrified upon seeing a corpse, especially one this gruesome.
"I used to work in forensic pathology. I’ve seen countless bodies, most of them far worse than this," Mi Hui explained with a heavy sigh.
"Let’s go. We need to find the next target," Xiang Yu said before racing downstairs. It felt like they were now locked in a race against their adversaries to see who could reach the next location first.
This time, they had clearly fallen behind, allowing the other side to strike first.
Back in the car, Mi Hui spoke anxiously, "I only know Lin Zhengyuan’s exact location. There’s another person who knows a general idea, but not the specifics."
Now, with Xiaoxuan driving, they headed toward another city. Xiang Yu wasn’t sure if they’d find anything, but they had to hold on to hope.
The entire drive, Xiaoxuan sped furiously, weaving through the roads. By now, it was three o’clock in the afternoon, and the traffic wasn’t too heavy.
Just as they neared the next city, the car suddenly stalled. Xiaoxuan tried several times to restart it but failed.
Tie Zhuzi and Xiaoxuan both jumped out to inspect the problem. Xiang Yu stepped out too, scanning the surroundings.
"Bro, what are you looking for?" Xiaoxuan asked curiously.
"I’m checking to see if there’s a gas station nearby," Xiang Yu replied.
