Unrivaled Soldier in the City-Chapter 86: Hanging by a Thread
Just as Lin Kuang rushed out from backstage, a loud CRACK echoed across the stage! A moment later, a bewildered Fan Bingbing shrieked as the floor gave way and she plummeted down. The sudden darkness had momentarily blinded the audience, so no one saw what happened. Only Lin Kuang’s incredibly sharp vision caught the movement; anyone else would have missed it.
Watching Fan Bingbing vanish beneath the stage, a cold, murderous intent flickered in Lin Kuang’s deep gaze.
Black Scorpion, I will never forgive you! he roared internally. This time, he was truly enraged.
In just two seconds, Lin Kuang reached the gaping hole in the stage and, without a second thought, leaped in. The moment he landed, he heard a distinct CLINK. Something had dropped at his feet.
His sharp gaze instantly identified it. It wasn’t just anything—it was a live grenade!
In that instant, Lin Kuang acted on pure instinct. He snatched the grenade, hurled it out of the hole, and sprinted down the passage with all his might. He knew the Black Scorpion members intended to destroy this underground passage. It was their ticket to a clean getaway. This realization was why he threw the grenade out instead of trying to leap out himself.
All of this might seem simple, but executing it under pressure was incredibly difficult. If Lin Kuang hadn’t been so experienced and his movements so deft, he would have already failed.
The grenade soared out of the pit and exploded on the stage above.
BOOM!
Flames shot skyward, and large sections of the stage collapsed. Fortunately, it was only a standard grenade, so the audience members near the stage weren’t seriously harmed. But while the physical injuries were minor, the deafening blast terrified the fans. Instantly, the entire stadium erupted in panicked screams. A tide of people surged frantically toward the exits, each person desperate to be the first one out. 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮
Amidst the chaos, Liu Shilin, Witch, and Lin Guo’er remained still. Lin Kuang had warned them to stay calm no matter what happened. So, while everyone else scrambled and pushed, they sat quietly in their seats.
Meanwhile, Lin Kuang was already sprinting full-tilt through the underground passage. Ahead, he could see the silhouettes of five or six figures.
"Black Scorpion, you’re all going to die," Lin Kuang said, his voice as cold as ice, drawing two Desert Eagles as he ran.
Even while moving at high speed, his aim was impeccable. Each shot was a kill. Not a single bullet was wasted.
"Damn it, someone’s on our tail! You two, cover our retreat! Blow him to pieces!" the leader shouted. The man, a foreigner carrying the unconscious Fan Bingbing, continued sprinting while the two men at the rear lobbed two more grenades.
The passage was less than two meters wide, leaving Lin Kuang no room to dodge. Worse, these two grenades packed enough power to bring the whole tunnel down.
His deep eyes sharpened. He surged forward, snatching both grenades out of the air in one fluid motion and hurling them back the way he came. He threw them dozens of meters behind him before they detonated.
BOOM! BOOM!
The violent explosions shook the entire tunnel, and rubble began to rain down from the ceiling.
Damn it, the tunnel’s going to collapse from the impact! This thought flashed through his mind, and he pushed his already breakneck speed even higher.
At the same time, his hands danced, firing two more bullets from his Desert Eagles. A moment later, the two men ahead of him dropped, killed instantly by headshots.
His gaze remained icy as he accelerated again, sprinting past their bodies. As he did, he caught sight of something in one of the dead men’s hands: another grenade, its pin already pulled!
"Damn it!" he cursed.
In the same motion, he flicked his heel up, launching the dead man’s body into the air. He followed with a powerful kick, sending the corpse flying back down the tunnel. The moment it left his foot, another massive explosion rocked the passage, which began to shake violently.
Dammit, this tunnel can’t take much more. I have to go faster!
Staring at the unstable earth and rock walls around him, a hint of madness entered his eyes. He could see the exit now, but dirt and debris were constantly pouring down, threatening to block it completely at any moment. If the exit was sealed, escape would be next to impossible.
His gaze hardened. He stomped down hard, his foot sinking deep into the earthen floor. The next instant, he shot forward like a cannonball, covering more than twenty meters in a single bound.
Behind him, the tunnel was finally collapsing. Ahead, the exit—now only a dozen or so meters away—had shrunk to a narrow slit.
Gritting his teeth, Lin Kuang pushed off the ground again. His entire body launched forward, wrapped in a faint glow of light. A second later, he shot through the exit like a speeding bullet.
Just as he cleared the opening, the tunnel behind him caved in completely, sending up a massive cloud of dust.
Lin Kuang didn’t stop. He landed, spun, and fired his pistols.
BANG! BANG!
Two gunshots rang out, and the two Black Scorpion members guarding the exit collapsed, both dead from headshots. Only then did Lin Kuang allow himself a sigh of relief.
His eyes scanned the area and immediately locked onto a black Range Rover speeding away to the northeast, already about half a kilometer away.
The killing intent in his eyes flared. He glanced to his side and saw another Range Rover, likely left behind by the two guards he’d just killed. A convenient gift.
Without a second thought, he jumped into the vehicle, started the engine, and slammed his foot on the gas. The SUV roared to life like a great steel beast, hurtling forward. The screaming engine was a testament to its rapidly increasing speed as it began its relentless pursuit.
