Chapter 51: Chapter 51: The Goofy Robber

Hearing the cry, Liu Shilin shot to her feet, her beautiful eyes instantly filled with concern.

"Shiyu! Shiyu, what happened? What’s wrong? Answer me!" Liu Shilin shouted, her voice laced with panic and her pretty face fraught with anxiety.

"Sister, I’m okay for now, but hurry and get that bastard over here to help me! I’m at the snack street across from the school!" the Witch’s voice came through the phone, accompanied by a noisy background that made Lin Kuang frown.

Glancing at Liu Shilin, he said, "Shilin, don’t worry. I’m on my way. Wait for my call."

With that, he quickly left the company and drove straight to the Witch’s school. He turned on the GPS and floored the accelerator, following the route. Blaring horns and angry curses echoed down the road.

Lin Kuang had no time to deal with them; he was worried the Witch was in trouble. As far as he was concerned, if someone was targeting the Witch, it had to be the Eagle Sect. After all, they were his only known enemies.

As the thought crossed his mind, a cold glint flashed in his eyes. "Zhang Lianmei," he muttered, "if this really is the Eagle Sect’s doing and you didn’t inform me, I’ll make you regret it!"

His car sped up even more. He overtook other vehicles and ran red lights without slowing in the slightest. He completed the half-hour journey in just ten minutes.

Getting out of the car, Lin Kuang scanned the area and immediately spotted the snack street across from the school, where a noisy crowd had gathered. Frowning, Lin Kuang quickly crossed the street and headed in. The crowd was dense, but it was hardly an obstacle for him.

He muscled his way through the people and finally got a clear view of the scene, letting out a sigh of relief.

Good, the girl’s still alive and kicking. Lin Kuang thought to himself.

The Witch stood there with her hands on her hips, looking utterly infuriated. She was covered in some kind of spilled food, her clothes stained with grease. In front of her, five or six teenagers were brawling, rolling around on the ground. The sight made Lin Kuang smile wryly.

Judging by the scene, he was certain these weren’t people from the Eagle Sect. If those thugs had made a move, it wouldn’t look like this. They would have at least kidnapped the Witch, right?

"Witch, what’s going on?" Lin Kuang asked with a smile, patting her on the shoulder.

Liu Shiyu jumped, startled by the pat. When she turned and saw it was Lin Kuang, she breathed a sigh of relief, though she didn’t give him a pleasant look.

"You bastard! These guys were trying to bully me and take advantage of me! Luckily my classmates were here, otherwise I would have been in real trouble. Go teach them a lesson!" the Witch said fiercely, pointing at two of the men on the ground.

Lin Kuang looked at the two she was pointing at. They appeared to be in their twenties and were definitely not students.

"Alright, I’ll ask about it," Lin Kuang said. He walked over and broke up the fight, his gaze falling on the two men. "Why did you two mess with Shiyu?" he asked flatly.

"She was pretty, so we made a move. What are you gonna do about it?" one of them retorted irritably.

"Is that right?" Lin Kuang asked, his expression calm despite his inner doubts.

"Of course! Why would I lie about something like that?!" the thug said with brazen confidence, as if he’d done nothing wrong.

Lin Kuang watched them carefully. He could clearly see their eyes flickering—a sure sign they weren’t telling the truth.

"Is that so?" Lin Kuang took two steps forward, his tone turning icy. "It seems you won’t shed tears until you see the coffin. Are you going to tell the truth or not?"

Feeling an inexplicable pressure emanating from Lin Kuang, the two thugs trembled. Panic was clear in their eyes.

"I... I don’t know what you’re talking about," one of them stammered, shuffling backward. He was obviously hiding something.

"Very well. We’ll see if you’ll talk," Lin Kuang said, grabbing their arms. He dragged them into an alley. They protested vehemently but were no match for his strength. Lin Kuang didn’t want to get physical in front of so many people; he hated being gawked at like a monkey in a zoo.

"Witch, don’t let anyone follow!" Lin Kuang said coldly when he saw people trying to come closer.

Hearing him, the Witch quickly blocked the way. She didn’t know why, but the harsh tone in Lin Kuang’s voice made even her a little scared.

Seeing that no one was following, Lin Kuang acted immediately, delivering several hard slaps to their faces. The blows left the two thugs dazed. They stared at him in fear, wondering what he would do next.

"You’d better be honest. I ask, you answer. Don’t beat around the bush, or I’ll give you a much rougher time," Lin Kuang said. His chilling gaze made them feel as if they’d been plunged into an ice cellar, and they shivered uncontrollably.

"I’m asking you, what exactly were you planning to do to Liu Shiyu?" he demanded.

"W-we were going to kidnap Liu Shiyu," one of them blurted out, on the verge of tears. "But wait, wait! It wasn’t our idea! We were just following orders!"

"Oh? Who ordered you to do it? And why would you try to kidnap someone here? There are too many people around," Lin Kuang asked, confused.

"We... we’re just local thugs, we’ve... we’ve never done anything like this before! Besides, Liu Shiyu goes straight to school in the morning and leaves by car in the evening. We never had a chance. We had no choice but to try when she came out to buy lunch. We figured we’d use some knockout drops to daze her and carry her away. We didn’t expect to be caught the second we made our move, and then her classmates started beating us up."

As he spoke, the thug’s face turned beet red with embarrassment.

Hearing this, Lin Kuang almost laughed out loud. These two weren’t kidnappers; they were a joke. His budding anger completely dissipated as he listened to the man’s pathetic story.

"Fine. Just tell me who put you up to this, and we’ll leave it at that. But there won’t be a next time. If there is, the consequences will be severe," Lin Kuang added, his expression still icy.

The two thugs nodded frantically. They were filled with regret. If they’d actually been caught by the authorities, their lives would have been over. After all, they were just common street thugs.
