Unrivaled Soldier in the City-Chapter 327: Eliminate the Spy
"What—what are you going to do?!" Hei Liuzi's dark face instantly turned pale, and he spoke in a trembling voice.
"What am I going to do? Of course, I'm going to see what a fine mess you've made!" Lin Kuang sneered, jumping directly into the restroom stall and appearing in front of Hei Liuzi.
Before Hei Liuzi could react, Lin Kuang landed a sharp chop on the back of his neck. The man fainted without so much as a grunt, slumping over the toilet. Lin Kuang picked up the phone from the floor. Seeing it was undamaged and the text message was still clear on the screen, he pocketed it. He then hauled the unconscious Hei Liuzi out and walked all the way back to the meeting room.
A flicker of confusion flashed in Zhang Lianmei's beautiful eyes when she saw them. Lin Kuang offered no explanation, simply taking out his own phone, which was still recording, and Hei Liuzi's phone with its unsent text. Upon seeing this, Zhang Lianmei immediately understood. Her expression turned grim, and she reconvened the meeting.
Everyone returned to the conference room, casting confused glances at Zhang Lianmei, Lin Kuang, and the unconscious Hei Liuzi at their feet. However, no one dared to ask any questions. Zhang Lianmei's face was so dark that nobody dared to provoke her.
"Take a look for yourselves," Zhang Lianmei said, placing both Lin Kuang's and Hei Liuzi's phones on the conference table.
Everyone rose to look. They saw the video Lin Kuang had recorded and the unsent text message on Hei Liuzi's phone. In that instant, they all understood what had happened.
Suddenly, everyone's expression turned ugly, especially Guo Delun's.
"Boss, kill him! Kill him!" Guo Delun shouted fiercely, slamming his hand on the table.
"Sit down!" Zhang Lianmei snapped.
Guo Delun immediately sat back down, clearly terrified of her.
"Everyone, I never expected we had one of Chen Jiachong's men among us. I don't want there to be a second one!"
Hearing Zhang Lianmei's icy words, everyone nodded, scarcely daring to breathe.
"Guo Delun, wake him up!" Zhang Lianmei commanded.
"No need. I'll do it," Lin Kuang said with a smile. He gave Hei Liuzi a gentle pat on the back of the neck, and the man instantly woke up.
Hei Liuzi looked dazedly at the scene before him. When he took in the full situation in the meeting room, the color drained from his face.
"No, no! I was framed! It was him! He forced me to do it! It's not my fault! Not my fault!" Hei Liuzi shrieked in panic, pointing a finger at Lin Kuang.
No one believed him. It was obvious that he had been sitting on the toilet composing the message himself. He clearly wasn't under duress. The people present weren't fools; how could they be deceived by Hei Liuzi?
"Hei Liuzi, do you know the price of betrayal?" Zhang Lianmei's gaze fell upon him as she spoke coolly.
Hearing this, Hei Liuzi immediately threw himself to his knees before her. "Boss, I... I didn't mean to! I was forced! Boss, I'm begging you, please give me another chance! Please don't kill me!" he sobbed and pleaded, his face a mask of terror.
"Is that so? Then be on your way. I will take good care of your family." As she spoke, a miniature pistol suddenly appeared in her palm. A single shot struck Hei Liuzi right between the eyes.
Hei Liuzi's eyes widened as he stared at Zhang Lianmei, then his body slowly collapsed.
"This is the price of betrayal. I hope every one of you remembers that. I don't want this to happen a second time. Otherwise, the consequences will be the same as his." Zhang Lianmei's gaze swept across the room as she spoke evenly.
Hearing her words, everyone nodded in unison, not daring to even breathe too loudly.
"Guo Delun, have someone send five million to Hei Liuzi's wife and children tomorrow. Consider him killed in action. Now, get him out of here. We move at ten o'clock sharp tonight!" Zhang Lianmei declared.
"Yes, Boss!" the crowd responded as one. Guo Delun dragged Hei Liuzi's corpse away. How they disposed of it was their business.
"Lianmei, you are truly well-suited for this position. After tonight, you will become the Empress of the East Sea's underworld. Congratulations in advance," Lin Kuang said with a smile, looking at Zhang Lianmei's cold expression.
Hearing this, Zhang Lianmei managed a somewhat awkward smile. "No, my ability to be in this position today is all thanks to you, Mr. Lin. I will never forget your kindness. If there is anything you need, please just ask. I will do my utmost to accomplish it," she said earnestly.
Previously, becoming the ruler of the East Sea's underworld was a dream she had long anticipated. But now that it was about to be realized, she felt it wasn't as wonderful as she had imagined. If she could, she would much rather be standing behind Lin Kuang right now, becoming his woman. Of course, she would never dare say such a thing. She knew she had been with several men, so she felt she had no right to confess her feelings to him.
Lin Kuang seemed to sense a hint of her thoughts but didn't pay them much mind.
"Come on, we're friends. It's only natural we help each other. You don't have to keep calling me 'Mr. Lin,' either. Like I've said before, just call me Lin Kuang," he said again.
Hearing this, Zhang Lianmei hesitated. Lin Kuang had said this more than once, but she still preferred to call him Mr. Lin. Deep down, she wanted to call him Lin Kuang, but whenever she faced him, she always lacked the courage.
"Alright, Lin... Lin Kuang," she finally said, a faint blush appearing on her cheeks.
"Good, that's more like it," Lin Kuang said with a smile. "Next time we meet, call me Lin Kuang. You're not allowed to call me Mr. Lin anymore."
"Alright, Lin Kuang," Zhang Lianmei replied with a smile of her own.
"Okay, let's get going. Get me some weapons and pick out twenty of your elites. They'll follow me to Chen Jiachong's lair tonight," Lin Kuang said, glancing at her.
"You—you're going to raid Chen Jiachong's lair?" Zhang Lianmei asked in disbelief.
"Of course," Lin Kuang said with a smile. "Once we eliminate Chen Jiachong, things will be much easier."
"But, isn't that dangerous? How about I go with you?" Zhang Lianmei couldn't help but ask.
"No need," Lin Kuang replied with a smile. "You hold down the fort here. You're needed here. I'll be fine with just a few men."
Seeing his resolve, Zhang Lianmei could only nod. She knew that once Lin Kuang had made a decision, she couldn't dissuade him.
But after a moment's thought, she felt reassured. After all, Lin Kuang was so powerful. How could he possibly lose?
