Unrivaled Soldier in the City-Chapter 215: Piercing Sword
Gu Yue hadn’t wanted to use the Blood Sacrifice Forbidden Technique, but at this point, he had no other choice. If he didn’t, his fate would almost certainly be death.
Once the Blood Sacrifice Forbidden Technique was cast, Gu Yue’s strength and speed surged dramatically.
At that moment, Gu Yue pushed off with both legs and retreated explosively, instantly avoiding Lin Kuang’s terrifying Mount Collapse.
Watching Gu Yue fall back, Lin Kuang stopped in his tracks, his brow furrowed deeply.
"Using the Blood Sacrifice will kill you," Lin Kuang said gravely, his eyes on Gu Yue’s now emaciated frame.
Lin Kuang could tell that Gu Yue had no control over the Blood Sacrifice. If he did, he could have performed it gradually, which would have given him a chance to survive. But as it stood, there was no chance of survival. Gu Yue was doomed.
Truth be told, Lin Kuang had never intended to kill Gu Yue, who was an opponent he deeply respected. It was a classic case of kindred spirits among heroes. But now that Gu Yue had used the Blood Sacrifice, his death was certain.
Hearing Lin Kuang’s words, Gu Yue laughed, though his now-skeletal face looked terrifying.
"King of the Underworld, this is my choice. I want to fight with all my might. Even if I can’t defeat you, I would willingly die at your hands!
"Over the years, I’ve committed too many atrocities, and honestly, I’ve grown weary of it. I want to leave Dark Blood and become an ordinary person, but I can’t. I’m powerless against the six elders of Dark Blood. So today, I came to fight you to the death. If I can kill you, you die. Even if I’m not your match, I will still give it my all, because you are the one I’ve always wanted to defeat!"
Perhaps due to the Blood Sacrifice, Gu Yue’s voice was hoarse, but it carried a sincere tone.
Hearing this, Lin Kuang didn’t know what to say, and a look of helplessness crossed his face.
"Come, King of the Underworld, face my strongest attack!" Gu Yue spoke again. The Essence Blood in his body was burning continuously, and his power grew ever greater.
However, this power was fleeting. Once all the Essence Blood in his body had been converted into power, he would undoubtedly die within minutes.
Hearing this, Lin Kuang nodded. "Come then. Let me witness your strongest attack."
"Alright!" Gu Yue agreed, but he didn’t rush to attack.
His aura continued to build as he frantically poured his True Qi into the Soft Sword in his hands.
Lin Kuang didn’t make a move, instead watching Gu Yue with a grave expression. He steadily mobilized the True Qi within his own body, waiting for his opponent’s ultimate strike. Both were gathering their power for a single, decisive blow.
After a full minute, Gu Yue’s aura reached its peak.
He finally spoke, "King of the Underworld, thank you for giving me this chance to gather my strength. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have been able to unleash my strongest attack. You are an opponent truly worthy of respect!"
Hearing this, Lin Kuang simply shook his head. "Come on, Gu Yue. Make your move."
Lin Kuang didn’t say more. In his eyes, the outcome was already a foregone conclusion.
Hearing this, Gu Yue nodded. "Alright! My strongest attack—Piercing Sword!" he roared hoarsely.
The next moment, the True Qi violently erupted from Gu Yue’s body. This formidable energy enveloped him and his sword, and they shot forward as one, stabbing toward Lin Kuang’s heart. 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶
Seeing this, a solemn look appeared in Lin Kuang’s eyes. He could clearly feel the immense power of Gu Yue’s attack.
However, he didn’t dodge, nor could he. Gu Yue’s aura had locked onto him completely. No matter where he tried to move, the attack would follow him like a shadow.
Lin Kuang slowly raised his hands, his palms coated in a thick layer of True Qi.
When Gu Yue and his Soft Sword were less than a foot from Lin Kuang’s chest, the cloth over it was torn to shreds, revealing his bronze skin, which was already throbbing in pain from the sheer pressure.
At that moment, Lin Kuang’s palms moved. His hands moved with extreme slowness, as if they carried an immense weight. Despite the slow movement, a dense wave of energy emitted from between his palms, intercepting Gu Yue’s Soft Sword.
Lin Kuang’s palms moved slowly, the force between them enveloping Gu Yue’s blade and continuously dissipating its power.
Gu Yue watched in horror. No matter how hard he tried, his Soft Sword could not advance another inch. It felt as if the force between Lin Kuang’s palms held the weight of a mountain, completely suppressing his blade.
Gu Yue strained with all his might, but he still couldn’t break through Lin Kuang’s defense. A bitter smile touched his lips. Lin Kuang was far stronger than he had ever imagined, and he accepted his defeat without reservation.
"King of the Underworld, I have lost. If there is an afterlife, I look forward to battling you again!" Gu Yue said weakly as the True Qi in his body dissipated.
Finally, the skeletal Gu Yue collapsed to the ground, his Soft Sword clattering down beside him.
Watching Gu Yue die, Lin Kuang quickly withdrew his power.
At that moment, Lin Kuang’s eyes showed a trace of fatigue, and fine beads of sweat had formed on his forehead. After all, Gu Yue’s attack had been truly powerful, and even Lin Kuang had found it difficult to block.
Letting out a deep breath, Lin Kuang looked at Gu Yue’s corpse, and his gaze returned to its usual calm.
"Gu Yue, you were a worthy opponent," Lin Kuang murmured, a hint of apology in his eyes. "I’m sorry, but I didn’t use my full strength."
After resting for a moment, Lin Kuang picked up the Soft Sword from the ground and gave it a few swings.
THUD. THUD. THUD.
A series of impacts echoed as Lin Kuang used the sword to dig a pit in the ground. He then placed Gu Yue’s body inside.
As he had said, Gu Yue was an adversary he respected. Lin Kuang didn’t want his body to be left exposed to the elements, so he gave him a proper burial.
Looking at the Soft Sword in his hand, Lin Kuang found that he quite liked it. However, it was Gu Yue’s cherished weapon. Even though Gu Yue was dead, Lin Kuang would not claim it for himself.
"Go with your master," Lin Kuang murmured to the blade.
He then placed the Soft Sword beside Gu Yue.
With that done, Lin Kuang finished burying him.
"Farewell. If there is a next life, we’ll fight again," Lin Kuang muttered, looking at the fresh grave before turning and striding away.
After Lin Kuang left, a light breeze swept across the area, and the cold moonlight shone down, as if to see Gu Yue off on his final journey.
Driving, Lin Kuang composed himself. Soft music played inside the car as he drove slowly toward Liu Shilin’s villa.
