Unrivaled Soldier in the City-Chapter 174: Only Waiting for Tomorrow Night
Zhang Lianmei knew full well that the wall Lin Kuang was pointing at was hollow. Inside, the elites of the Eagle Sect were lying in wait, ready to swarm out and surround him at her command. However, because of her judgment and her feigned affection for Lin Kuang, she had held them back. What shocked her the most was that Lin Kuang somehow knew people were hidden there.
Just as he had said, she was deeply relieved that she hadn’t given the order. Judging by Lin Kuang’s demeanor, the consequences would have been unthinkable. At this thought, more cold sweat beaded on her forehead, and her heart pounded with fear.
"Alright, it’s only human nature," Lin Kuang said with a smile. "But as I said, I hope this sort of thing won’t happen again, okay?"
Upon hearing this, Zhang Lianmei nodded vigorously. "Mr. Lin, rest assured. I guarantee that this will absolutely not happen again!"
"Good, I believe you. Alright, have a seat," Lin Kuang said with a laugh, seeming unconcerned.
He truly didn’t care. After all, many people might consider such a move, but thinking about something and actually doing it are two different things. Moreover, Zhang Lianmei was a valuable asset, and Lin Kuang had no desire to lose this helper unless it was absolutely necessary.
The two sat facing each other, and Lin Kuang asked again, "Let’s go with your second plan. When do we act? Where did Zhou Datao ask to meet you?"
"Tomorrow night at nine o’clock," Zhang Lianmei said respectfully. "Zhou Datao has invited us to the Odin Hotel. Across from the hotel is a television station. You can set up an ambush on the roof."
"Good. I’ll be there on time at nine tomorrow night. Is the sniper rifle ready? When can we take out Zhou Datao?" Lin Kuang asked again.
"We have sniper rifles here. As for the timing, watch for my signal. It will definitely be no later than eleven o’clock at night. Will that work for you?" Zhang Lianmei asked.
Hearing this, Lin Kuang nodded. "That’s fine. It’s only two hours of lying in wait. No problem. Let’s go. Take me to see the rifle. I’ll take it with me now."
"Of course, Mr. Lin. Please follow me." With that, Zhang Lianmei stood and walked toward the door. Lin Kuang also got up and quickly followed.
They took an elevator down to the basement level. After exiting, Lin Kuang was rather surprised. The entire basement was a massive training ground, covering a vast area and filled with all kinds of training equipment. A large number of people were gathered there, all evidently members of the Eagle Sect. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞
"Big Sister," a group of them greeted Zhang Lianmei with immense respect.
Zhang Lianmei nodded coolly. "Carry on with what you were doing. There’s nothing for you here," she said calmly, exuding the air of a leader.
"Understood, Big Sister," the group acknowledged before dispersing.
Zhang Lianmei then turned to Lin Kuang beside her and said respectfully, "Mr. Lin, please follow me." She turned and led the way.
Lin Kuang smiled slightly and followed her.
After about five minutes, Zhang Lianmei led him to the door of a room, where two Eagle Sect members stood guard. Upon seeing her, they immediately bowed. Zhang Lianmei waved her hand, produced a key, and unlocked the door.
"Mr. Lin, please come in," she said with a smile.
Lin Kuang nodded and stepped into the room. Once inside, he was stunned. The place was practically a small-scale military arsenal. There were grenades, handguns, submachine guns, sniper rifles, and even heavy weapons like rocket launchers.
"Lianmei, you’ve actually gotten your hands on so much hardware?" Lin Kuang said, looking at her with some surprise.
Hearing his words, Zhang Lianmei felt a swell of pride. This collection represented most of her wealth, and you couldn’t survive in the underworld without this kind of equipment. Acquiring it all had cost her a great deal of effort.
"These are what the Eagle Sect has accumulated over many years, plus some I’ve acquired recently. Take a look and see which one you’d like to use," she said with a smile. Looking at the weapons before her put her in an excellent mood.
Lin Kuang nodded and scanned the racks. He first picked up a few Desert Eagle magazines, since his own was out of ammo and this was the perfect opportunity to resupply. He continued to look around until his eyes lit up, landing on a particular sniper rifle.
"A Chinese-made JS sniper rifle! What a beauty! My absolute favorite!" Lin Kuang exclaimed, excitedly picking up the rifle. It had been a long time since he’d handled one of these.
The JS had been his specialty back in the army. Since it was military-grade, it wasn’t something ordinary people could obtain. The fact that Zhang Lianmei had managed to get one pleased him greatly. Seeing how much he liked it made Zhang Lianmei happy as well. Her purpose was to serve him, so his satisfaction was all that mattered.
"Do you have Armor-piercing Bullets?" Lin Kuang asked excitedly, glancing at her.
"Yes, right here." Zhang Lianmei grabbed a box from the side and handed it to him. It was filled with Armor-piercing Bullets—dozens of them, it seemed.
Lin Kuang took three, as the JS magazine only holds three rounds. For him, three bullets were more than enough to kill someone.
"Alright, this is all I need," he said with a laugh, clearly in a good mood.
"Uh, Mr. Lin, isn’t three a little low?" Zhang Lianmei asked hesitantly.
"Don’t worry. One is actually enough. I’m only taking three as a precaution," Lin Kuang replied with a smile. Why would a top-tier sniper need three bullets for one kill? One is all it takes.
Hearing his confidence, Zhang Lianmei said no more.
Lin Kuang found a case, disassembled the JS, and placed the parts inside along with the three bullets.
"Alright, I’ll be taking this beauty with me," Lin Kuang said, looking at Zhang Lianmei with a smile. "I’ll wait for you at the designated spot tomorrow night. I’ll definitely be there by nine."
"Uh, Mr. Lin, won’t you stay for lunch?" Zhang Lianmei quickly asked.
"No need. I’m heading back now. I’ll be waiting on the roof of the TV station tomorrow," Lin Kuang said again.
Upon hearing this, Zhang Lianmei could only nod. Although she dearly wanted to have lunch with him, he had already declined. It would be improper for her to press the issue, but she couldn’t help feeling a pang of disappointment.
