Unrivaled Soldier in the City-Chapter 135: Full of Charm
"Of course I have," giggled Yang Ruoxi.
"Oh? Where?" Lin Kuang asked curiously.
"Silly, right in front of me, of course," Yang Ruoxi said happily, looking at him.
Hearing this, Lin Kuang paused for a moment before letting out a wry smile. "So you were talking about me!"
"Of course! Who else could it be?" Yang Ruoxi said, as if it were the most obvious thing in the world.
"Ruoxi, you’ve gotten mischievous," Lin Kuang said, a little helplessly.
"Is that so? Well, who could stay good in your company?" Yang Ruoxi shot back with a smile.
Looking at Yang Ruoxi’s adorable expression, Lin Kuang was speechless. The next moment, he cupped her head and planted a firm kiss on the corner of her lips before turning and walking away.
Yang Ruoxi stood frozen in place. It took her a moment to process what had happened, and her smiling face instantly turned crimson. She quickly chased after him.
"You jerk, stop right there!" she shouted, brandishing her fists playfully.
Lin Kuang chuckled. "Come on, come and get me!"
With that, he picked up his pace, making Yang Ruoxi grind her teeth in frustration.
Seeing her cute antics, Lin Kuang felt a wave of happiness.
This kind of life is amazing. I’m liking it more and more! he murmured to himself.
He had once thought he would never adapt to city life, yet now he found himself utterly captivated by it.
He jogged the rest of the way to Yang Ruoxi’s villa and walked right in without ceremony.
"Morning, Uncle Kuang," little Xinxin chirped, bouncing on her feet when she saw him enter.
"Morning, little Xinxin." As he spoke, Lin Kuang swept the little girl into his arms.
Seated on the sofa, Yang Ruotong watched the scene unfold with a smile.
How nice would it be if Lin Kuang were Xinxin’s dad? she thought. At that thought, her pretty face flushed, and she couldn’t help but chide herself. I seem to be overthinking things.
"Morning, Sister Tong," Lin Kuang said with a smile, noticing her blush.
Yang Ruotong nodded. "Morning, Lin Kuang."
Lin Kuang was about to say more when Yang Ruoxi stormed in, still fuming. Spotting Lin Kuang, she glared at him.
"Hmph! Follow me upstairs!" she commanded, stomping up the stairs like a young wife about to discipline her husband.
Seeing this, Lin Kuang just shrugged.
"Uncle Kuang, did you make my auntie mad again?" little Xinxin asked, her eyes twinkling mischievously as she snuggled in his arms.
"You little rascal, go on, go to your mom," Lin Kuang said with a laugh, pinching her smooth little cheek.
"Yes, Uncle Kuang!" Xinxin replied cheerfully.
Lin Kuang smiled happily. The little girl was truly endearing. With that thought, he handed Xinxin over to Yang Ruotong.
Seemingly reminded of what had happened yesterday morning, Yang Ruotong’s pretty face turned a little red. Lin Kuang felt a bit awkward as well and was careful to avoid a repeat of the incident.
After placing Xinxin in Yang Ruotong’s arms, Lin Kuang turned and headed upstairs.
Watching his retreating back, Yang Ruotong couldn’t help but feel a pang of disappointment.
What am I disappointed about? Is it because... because he didn’t touch me? she wondered, a peculiar blush crossing her charming face.
Arriving in Yang Ruoxi’s bedroom, Lin Kuang found her still pouting at him.
"Why are you looking at me like that? Want another kiss?" Lin Kuang asked with a shrug, feigning curiosity.
"In your dreams, you jerk!" Yang Ruoxi retorted irritably.
"Then why are you staring at me? Did I get more handsome? So much so that you can’t help but take a few extra glances? If you’re smitten with me, you can just say so. I’m a nice guy; I’ll give you a chance," Lin Kuang said with a sly grin, acting as if he were a saint.
"Oh, shut up and let’s start!" Yang Ruoxi said irritably. With that, she sat cross-legged on the bed and waited for him.
Seeing this, Lin Kuang also sat on the bed and began to transmit True Qi to her.
Half an hour later, they both got off the bed.
After having breakfast with the Yang Family, Lin Kuang left and returned to Liu Shilin’s villa.
"Good morning, Shilin," Lin Kuang greeted with a smile, seeing her already eating.
Inwardly, however, he felt a bit uneasy. Liu Shilin was eating all by herself at home while he had been out, and the sight made her seem terribly lonely.
"Hm? Have you eaten yet?" Liu Shilin asked with a smile upon his return.
"Not yet," Lin Kuang lied with a smile. He saw a glimmer of hope in her eyes and couldn’t bring himself to tell the truth, even though he had already eaten.
"Perfect timing. I saved a lot for you. Come and eat," Liu Shilin said, looking quite pleased.
"Okay." Lin Kuang walked to the dining table, picked up the soup dumplings, and started eating. He downed one with every bite and, in the blink of an eye, polished off more than a dozen.
"Lin Kuang, are you full? If not, I can have some more sent over," Liu Shilin couldn’t help but ask, seeing he still didn’t look satisfied.
"Mhm, I’m pretty much full. Eating too much will make me fat," Lin Kuang said with a laugh as he chewed.
"Alright. I’m going upstairs to change," Liu Shilin said, turning to leave.
Lin Kuang threw the empty food boxes into the trash, washed his hands, changed his clothes, and then sat in the living room to wait.
At eight o’clock, Liu Shilin finally came downstairs. She wore a white business suit, with black stockings hugging her shapely legs—an altogether alluring sight. Her long black hair draped casually over her shoulders, framing a captivating face. She was utterly charming from every angle.
"Lin Kuang, let’s go." Seeing him staring at her, Liu Shilin felt a small flutter of happiness, and her voice carried a hint of coquettishness.
"Yeah, let’s go. Shilin, you’re getting more beautiful every day," Lin Kuang said admiringly as he walked over to her side.
"I... I’m not," Liu Shilin stammered, her pretty face blushing as she looked away shyly.
"It’s true! I never lie!" Lin Kuang declared with complete conviction.
"I don’t believe a word you say. Come on, let’s go," Liu Shilin said, her face still red, but deep down, she was incredibly happy.
Lin Kuang drove Duoduo’s Mazda while Liu Shilin drove her Mercedes. The two left the estate one after the other and headed for the Yashi Company.
Nearly half an hour later, they both parked their cars and went upstairs. Upon reaching their floor, Lin Kuang returned the car keys to Duoduo before heading to Liu Shilin’s office.
Lin Kuang had only just sat down, a little after nine o’clock, when Susu walked in.
"Sister Shilin, there are some police officers at the door. The one in charge, Captain Kong, wants to see you," Susu said worriedly. She feared they were there to arrest Liu Shilin, and her anxiety was palpable.
*PS: A special thanks to Su Yuan for the tip!*
