Unrivaled Martial Emperor-Chapter 1477 - Black Dragon, Inheritance, Bestowed Blood
“This... is this really the statue of a god?”
Chen Fan stared at the statue. All those trials just to see a statue?
Although this statue was most likely of a god, it was still just a statue.
Chen Fan examined the statue and saw that it held a scepter, which stood tall between heaven and earth, as if symbolizing supreme authority, and emitted an incomparably terrifying majesty.
He strode toward the statue. He reached his hand out, his gaze intent, and grabbed toward the scepter.
Suddenly, an endless stream of runic light surged violently from the scepter.
A lot of information suddenly appeared in Chen Fan’s mind.
It was as if he could see the entire Brahma Ancient City and the ancient road through the starry sky. In his mind, he could see that he was currently in a divine residence, located above the Brahma Ancient City. Only by traversing the ancient road through the starry sky, past the distant void, could one reach this place.
The statue and scepter in the divine residence symbolized supreme nobility and authority, overseeing and ruling everything in this ancient city.
Understanding dawned upon Chen Fan. Great Sage Brahma had not created the Brahma Ancient City; instead, he had stumbled upon it by fate. Through it, he had soared beyond the reach of mortals, achieving enlightenment and ascending to sainthood.
The Brahma Ancient City was a genuine divine city, the divine nation of a god.
Chen Fan could even see the situation outside the divine city. He saw numerous prodigies kept outside of the divine city by the Road of Calamity, unable to do a thing but look indignant. They were not fated with the treasures and opportunities within the city.
Chen Fan had a strange feeling. Holding the scepter, it was as if he had become the owner of this divine city, having gained the power to close it off.
He extended his senses further, his perception spreading across the vast divine domain.
“Where does this passageway lead?”
The entrance through which he had arrived was not the only one. Two other passageways extended outward, each connecting to separate realms, mysterious spaces he could not fully discern. Yet faintly, he sensed the truth: they led to the second and third levels of the Immortal Conferral Ancient Realm, domains where emperor-level beings gathered.
“Not good, Brother Luo is in danger.”
Chen Fan saw Luo Wushuang facing imminent danger as he underwent the tests on the starry sky ancient road. He had already passed eight tests and was currently facing the ninth.
Although the primordial ferocious beast Luo Wushuang was facing in his ninth test wasn’t the golden-winged roc, it wasn’t any weaker. Luo Wushuang was incredibly powerful, but he was still driven into a corner, in danger of perishing.
“Get out.”
Immediately, a strong will surged from Chen Fan. Luo Wushuang, driven into a corner, suddenly sensed a supreme will descend upon him. He retreated instantly along the ancient road in the starry sky. Next, he reappeared outside the starry gates.
Luo Wushuang’s heart pounded heavily as he looked up into the void, shaken inside. That will he had sensed earlier was like the will of god itself, and there was no way he could resist it.
However, this will of god had saved him.
Chen Fan also saw Xie Qingjin, Ji Lanshan, and the others. They had also arrived at the ancient road in the starry sky, where they were fighting. He didn’t pay them any heed and exerted force in his palm, trying to seize the scepter.
However, terrifying light flashed in the void. Loud rumbling noises rang out. Next, the silhouette of a black dragon appeared. Its enormous head turned to Chen Fan, its eyes locked onto him.
Suddenly, Chen Fan felt an incomparably terrifying pressure.
That was a dragon’s might. Under it, Chen Fan felt his bloodline stirring restlessly, as if roaring.
This was an actual dragon, made of flesh and blood.
The black dragon’s voice rang out, shaking Chen Fan’s heart to its core.
“You’re still too weak. You can’t take this scepter as you are now.”
This was indeed a real dragon, and it was incomparably powerful.
However, the black dragon didn’t bear any hostility toward him. It seemed that the black dragon was the guardian of this divine city, and whoever reached this place would inherit it, becoming its new ruler.
Thinking of this, Chen Fan calmed down slightly. He mustered his courage and said, “Since I’ve passed all the tests and arrived here, why can’t I take this scepter?”
“You have already established a faint mental connection with the scepter. You may come here any time in the future. Return when you’ve reached a certain cultivation realm. I’ll close off the divine city for you,” said the black dragon, seemingly acknowledging Chen Fan’s status as the inheritor.
“You mean I’ve inherited this divine city?”
Chen Fan felt as if his heart was about to leap out of his chest. He needed to confirm this.
“You truly are fortunate, young one. Across the long river of time, countless geniuses have reached this place. Yet the stronger they were, the more terrifying the trials they faced upon the starry sky road. Many peerless figures, those who shone brightest, still fell at the ninth test.”
The dragon’s voice rumbled like thunder, slow and profound.
“Your talent is outstanding, you’ve received the baptism of the Sacred Radiance, and cultivated supreme techniques passed down through the ages. Your current weakness became your advantage, allowing you to endure where others failed. But that same weakness now limits you, as you are not yet capable of commanding this divine city.”
The black dragon said slowly, “But such are the rules. Luck is also part of one’s strength. You have indeed inherited this divine city, but you aren’t strong enough to rule over it. So, come back when you’ve become stronger.”
Chen Fan blinked and said, “If I left just like this, wouldn’t it make passing the Starry Sky Ancient Road seem pointless? Senior, you should at least give me some sort of reward, like a sage artifact, divine medicine, or something minor like that.”
The black dragon rolled its large eyes back, but it didn’t get angry, clearly having an easygoing nature. It stared at Chen Fan and said, “I see that you have the bloodline of rain dragons inside you. Even after experiencing the baptism of the Sacred Radiance, that bloodline is still very thin. I shall bestow upon you a single drop of a dragon’s blood to help elevate the strength of your bloodline.”
As its voice fell, a purple drop of fresh blood flew out from the black dragon and drifted toward Chen Fan.
Chen Fan’s soul trembled the moment this drop appeared.
He stared intently at the drop of dragon blood before him. Although it was tiny, the scene of a universe’s birth and destruction appeared within that blood. The power within seemed capable of collapsing the ages.
This dragon blood drop entered Chen Fan. Immediately, his bloodline roared and boiled over. The silhouette of a rain dragon appeared behind him, roaring toward the sky.
Infused with this drop of black dragon blood, the silhouette of the rain dragon became even more vivid. Chen Fan could clearly sense that his bloodline had become even stronger.
If the baptism of the Sacred Radiance previously had elevated Chen Fan’s bloodline to the level of an Immortal Emperor’s bloodline, with the addition of the black dragon’s blood, it had further elevated it to the level of a Sage’s bloodline.
A single drop of blood had done this. The thought made Chen Fan’s heart pound in awe. He couldn’t begin to fathom how powerful the black dragon truly was. Even if not divine, it was surely a being that stood at the pinnacle of Sagehood—a creature whose strength brushed against the edge of godhood itself.
