Unrivaled Martial Emperor-Chapter 1405 - Fisherman
Chen Fan did not act carelessly. He continued lying in wait, seeking the perfect moment to strike, like a fisherman patiently waiting at the river’s edge.
The Black Wind Dual Fiends continued with their plan to take the Blood Primeval Fruit.
Suddenly, a massive mammoth trunk, resembling a hill, came crashing down. If they tried to push through, they would be instantly reduced to meat paste.
Although the two ancient beast leaders had sustained heavy injuries on multiple occasions, their bloodlines and their strength were formidable. They could still unleash strength comparable to a fifth or sixth-stage half-immortal.
Just as the Black Wind Dual Fiends braced to be crushed by the mammoth’s trunk, they reacted instantly, halting their advance.
Rumble!
The trunk slammed into the ground, cracking the earth beneath it.
The Black Wind Dual Fiends’ complexions changed at the terrifying power. They hadn’t expected the two beast leaders to be so powerful, even after getting heavily injured by their quasi-immortal talisman.
Yet, their pause was fleeting. Once the trunk smashed the ground, the twins resumed their frenzied charge.
“Roar, roar!”
The ancient ape grew even more berserk. Seeing the Blood Primeval Fruit slip from its grasp only fueled its rage. It unleashed its fury without hesitation on anyone who dared stand in its way.
Boom, boom, boom!
Fist strikes tore through the air, each blow aimed to pulverize the Black Wind Dual Fiends into pieces.
Suddenly, Black Fiend spewed out a mouthful of fresh blood, seemingly to activate some secret art. His blood essence ignited, and he spread his hands wide. An invisible fluctuation radiated outward, forming a shimmering wall of qi.
Bang, bang, bang!
The fist force from the beasts struck the qi wall like a storm but failed to pass through.
Even this slight moment of respite was enough for Wind Fiend. His comprehension of the laws of wind was very profound. He seemed to transform into a whirlwind, appearing before the Blood Primeval Fruit in an instant. With a crack, he shattered the barrier surrounding the fruit and snatched it up.
Seeing that the fruit was now in their possession, Black Fiend immediately shouted, “Quickly leave! I’ll hold them back for you for a while!” 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶
His face was unusually flushed, beads of cold sweat covering his forehead. He had poured everything he had into the qi wall; holding it even a moment longer would be a miracle.
Wind Fiend didn’t hesitate at all, nor did he have the luxury of time. Once he seized the fruit, he immediately became the primary target of the ancient beasts.
Wind Fiend darted forth like lightning. Just as he was about to disappear from their sight, the mammoth suddenly swung a chunk of mountain—a small peak about a dozen meters high—toward Wind Fiend like a meteorite moving faster than sound.
Despite his incredible speed, Wind Fiend was struck directly.
Pfft!
Wind Fiend spewed a mouthful of fresh blood, feeling as if his organs had ruptured. The bones along his back shattered, and he nearly tumbled from the sky, swaying dangerously.
Black Fiend’s expression changed at the sight. He roared out loud, pouring every ounce of his strength into restraining the ancient beasts, regardless of the cost.
“Brother!”
They had anticipated such losses. Snatching food from the mouths of these ancient beasts could never come without a price.
Wind Fiend left the scene without turning back as the roars of ancient beasts echoed behind him. At last, he allowed himself a sigh of relief.
Easy to say, but every step had been laced with danger; a single misstep would have cost them their lives.
They had only caught these ancient beasts by surprise. If the beasts had known that they were lying in wait, they would have gotten rid of them first before fighting for the Blood Primeval Fruit.
Suddenly, the space fluctuated.
“Who is it?”
A blazing saber light tore through space like lightning and arrived in front of Wind Fiend. Before he could react, this blazing saber light fell on him, sending him flying. He spewed fresh blood furiously, and a long gash appeared on his chest, deep enough to reveal his bones. He was nearly cleaved in two.
“Ahhh!”
Wind Fiend let out a miserable scream. Already battered from the strike of a small mountain peak, he now faced another devastating attack before he had a chance to recover.
Realization struck him immediately. They hadn’t been the only ones keeping an eye on the Blood Primeval Fruit in the dark. There were others, and the fiends had failed to notice them.
However, Wind Fiend still shouldn’t have been caught off guard. Yet, fresh from escaping the ancient beasts, his vigilance had been at its lowest, allowing Chen Fan to seize the perfect opportunity.
Finally, Wind Fiend saw the attacker. His eyes went wide, and his face was filled with disbelief.
“It’s you! Chen Fan, it’s actually you!”
He had expected a fifth or sixth-stage half-immortal to launch a surprise attack; instead, it was Chen Fan, the very person they had been tracking relentlessly for a whole month.
“Pfft!”
Wind Fiend’s anger got to his heart, and he spewed another mouthful of blood in vexation.
“Tsk tsk, you didn’t expect me, did you? That’s just how life is. A second earlier, you guys were still the hunters. Now, you’re about to become my prey.” Chen Fan smiled with narrowed eyes, smiling very brightly.
“Damn it... it’s actually you, you little bastard. How dare you! We haven’t even come looking for you, and yet you came straight to us? Are you looking to die? Did you think you could take me on? Even if I’m heavily injured, you can’t look down on me. As soon as my big brother arrives, only death awaits you. You can still escape if you run now!” Wind Fiend said, trying to appear fierce, though deep down he knew his weakness.
He was well aware of his current condition. After receiving Chen Fan’s sneak attack, he had lost more than half his strength. He was definitely no match for Chen Fan now and could only try to intimidate him.
“Mmm, you’re right. When your brother gets here, it will indeed become troublesome.” Chen Fan nodded seriously and said, “That’s why you should die now! As for the Blood Primeval Fruit, I’ll be accepting it.”
With that, Chen Fan shot forward like a cannonball, arriving in front of Wind Fiend in an instant. His iron fist struck out ruthlessly like a golden meteorite.
