Unlimited estates for rural beauty-Chapter 468 Brother Is Generous, But Sister Pays the Silver (4)
Yueyue pouted her little mouth again, looking at Qiqi with a plaintive expression: "But... but..."
"But what?"
"Oh, it’s just that the dishes are so expensive, and people feel sorry for... Silver." Yueyue blurted out stubbornly after being glared at by her brother.
Qiqi’s mouth twitched wildly as he looked disdainfully at his penny-pinching sister: "You act like pulling out silver is like cutting your own flesh. Let’s go, I’ll be generous this time and treat you." He patted his little chest with a small hand, playing the magnanimous elder brother for once.
Yueyue fluttered her eyelids, saying to herself that if she was miserly, her big brother was even more so. They had been out all day and she hadn’t seen him spend a single copper coin. Hearing that her big brother was treating, Yueyue’s little feet took big steps into the restaurant, leaving her brother behind.
Qiqi shook his head, hurried a few steps to catch up to his sister, and followed her into the main hall. They saw the waitstaff busily running around, either delivering dishes, serving tea, or greeting guests, but completely ignoring him and his sister.
Qiqi’s face turned the color of soy sauce; it was as if he and his sister were invisible just because they were short and young, but surely they didn’t deserve to be totally overlooked. His little man’s pride was hurt.
Seeing a waiter about to pass by, he reached out and grabbed him, looking up at him with displeasure.
The waiter’s hem was tugged on, and, looking down in surprise, saw two adorable kids dressed like sons of a wealthy family. He then asked with a flattering tone: "Young Master, what can I do for you?"
Qiqi coolly spat out two words: "Eat."
The waiter’s face stiffened into a forced smile and he asked, "Uh, where’s your father and mother sitting? I’ll bring the food to you."
"Big brother~ We’re here to eat, and dad and mom aren’t here, but we have silver, oh." Yueyue innocently said to the waiter, her sweet smile showing through her simple face. Fearing the waiter might not believe her, she took out a small silver ingot and waved it in front of him.
The waiter’s eyes lit up as if he’d been injected with chicken blood, and he respectfully ushered the two little ’adults’ to a table by the window. Yueyue looked at the high stool in front of her, about as tall as she was, and turned to the waiter with a pitiful look, batting her misty big eyes as if she were deeply aggrieved.
The waiter melted inside, scooped up Yueyue and placed her onto the stool, then turned to pick up Qiqi, only to find Qiqi already seated on the stool. With an embarrassed smile, he cleared his throat and asked, "Young Master, Young Miss, what would you like to order?"
Qiqi raised an eyebrow: "Of course, your signature dishes here."
"We have many signature dishes, like soy-sauce duck, the eight treasures...," replied the waiter.
"Coming to Wangjiang Tower is, of course, for the fish." Yueyue promptly silenced the waiter mid-spiel.
The waiter, still smiling apologetically, said: "Our spicy and fragrant fish is most authentic, but I’m not sure if you two can handle the spiciness?"
"Just the spicy fish, and two bowls of rice." Qiqi waved his little hand and, holding the teacup on the table, gulped down a few mouthfuls.
Yueyue swallowed, her throat feeling like it was smoking; she hadn’t drunk a thing all the way, so she quickly picked up the teacup and bottoms up. After drinking, she pursed her lips, and her mouth immediately turned bitter, frowning: "Brother, this tea tastes terrible."
"You’ll have to put up with these," said Qiqi, his little face serious as he rolled his peach blossom eyes while lecturing his sister. "Outside of home, nothing is as good. Haven’t you seen the people on the streets who don’t have enough to eat? You’re much luckier than them, be content."
Yueyue pouted, turning her gaze out the window. She watched beggars enduring the scorching sun to beg for food, subject to disdain and dismissal from passersby, and bitterness welled up in her heart: "Brother, when you become emperor, make sure to not let these beggars be homeless anymore."
Qiqi looked at his sister in surprise: "Why me? And not dad?"
Yueyue shook her head: "Dad has won the empire, but you will have to defend it. Haven’t you heard? It’s easy to win an empire, but hard to keep it." She pointed outside with a small hand and lifted her chin: "Look, you see!"
Following her gaze, Qiqi saw several rich young masters strolling around the street, their eyes occasionally sweeping over the women walking by, leering lustfully.
"What a stark contrast, between beggars and rich young masters," sighed Yueyue.
Qiqi hadn’t expected his little sister to say something so profound; it completely belied her young age. A single day out had broadened her perspective significantly.
It wasn’t long before the waiter brought up the dishes along with two bowls of rice. Yueyue, smelling the delicious aroma from the table, wore an expression of absolute craving. She picked up her chopsticks, aimed for a big piece of the spicy fish, and placed it into her mouth. Instantly, a spicy sensation filled her tiny mouth, followed by a delicately fragrant smoothness. Squinting her eyes in delight, she nodded vigorously at her brother: "Big brother, try it, it’s delicious."
Qiqi looked at the red heap on top of the dish with trepidation but seeing his sister enjoying it, he boldly picked up a chopstick, grabbed a piece of fish belly, carefully removed the peppers on top, and put it in his mouth. Though it was spicy at first, the more he chewed, the tastier it became, and soon, like being addicted, he and his sister began to fight over the fish. When only bones were left, the two little ones’ bellies were bulging. After a hearty meal, they paid the silver and left the restaurant leisurely.
Qiqi was feeling great, while Yueyue was all pouty, rolling her eyes at her brother: "You lied; you said you would treat, so why did it end up being my silver?"
Qiqi shrugged his shoulders, looking innocent: "No choice, oh well, who told you to show off that silver ingot at the beginning? The waiter didn’t ask me for silver; how could he find anyone but you?"
Yueyue made a face behind her brother’s back, sticking out her small, tongue-tipped tongue, pouting and following behind her brother, wondering how to earn back the seven taels and six coins she had just spent on the meal.
