Chapter 365: Chapter 365: Twins (4)

Feng Xuxu turned her head to look at the wrinkled little infant in the swaddle, its tiny face about as big as a fist: "So ugly."

"Princess, all children look like this when they are just born. Wait a few days until they open up, and all will be fine," Zhang Wenpo said cheerfully to the Princess Mei lying on the bed as she held another baby.

Feng Xuxu smiled wearily: "Bring them here, let me have a look."

"Princess, you are blessed with twins, a son, and a daughter," Zhang Wenpo carefully brought them over and placed them beside the other child.

Feng Xuxu looked back and forth at her daughter and son, her pale little face frowning: "Chen, they look too much alike."

"Hehe, they’ll look different when they grow up," said he, gesturing to Zhang Wenpo to take the babies away from the side of the bed.

"My dear, get some good sleep," he said as he moved forward to gently cover her with the blanket, watching until she fell asleep.

Seeing that the person in the bed was breathing evenly and had fallen asleep, he turned and walked out of the bedroom.

Looking at the gradually brightening sky outside, a smile graced his lips. How wonderful, he finally had a complete family—his wife, son, and daughter were all present.

"Has Tian Yi returned?" he asked Xuan Yue as he walked into the study and sat down.

"Master, not yet."

Several hours had passed and yet he had not returned; could it be...

"Gather a few Hidden Guards, and come with me to check," he ordered.

Just as dawn was breaking, the great gates of Prince Mei Residence were flung open, and several fast horses galloped out in succession. 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖

Dugu Chen stepped into Xuanyuan Mansion, its grand gates wide open, to find maids, servants, and men in black lying dead in various positions, with blood spilled everywhere. The deeper he went inside, the more horrifying the scene became. There were marks of swords and knives on doors and windows, and walls splattered with blood, a sight that sent shivers down one’s spine.

"Prince, what... what has happened here?" Xuan Yue asked in astonishment, unable to believe that everyone in the entire mansion had been wiped out overnight.

Dugu Chen furrowed his brows and followed the secret signals left by Tian Yi, chasing after them.

"Lord Jueqing, you go ahead. I’ll cover the rear," Tian Yi, covered in blood, said while on horseback, looking at Jueqing on the side.

"No, we go together," he refused without a second thought.

Tian Yi glanced behind and, seeing that they were about to be caught, urgently said to Jueqing: "You have to think about the master and mistress in the carriage, not just yourself."

Jueqing glanced at the carriage, then reluctantly nodded: "Hold on, I’ll deliver them to the temple entrance and come right back."

Tian Yi smiled: "Okay." He pulled on the reins, turned his horse around, and faced the oncoming people.

Tian Yi, mounted on his horse in the middle of the road, violently spat out a mouthful of blood. Clutching his sword, his cold eyes were locked onto his adversaries.

"Step aside, we do not wish to be enemies with Prince Mei Residence," the leader called out loudly as he rode a few steps forward, rebuking Tian Yi, who was blocking the way.

Tian Yi sneered: "Hmph, Xuanyuan Mansion is Princess Mei’s maternal home. By doing this, you’re not just making an enemy of the Prince Residence; do you perhaps think you’re on good terms with it?"

"Hmph, though we do not wish to make an enemy of Prince Mei Residence, we are not afraid of it. You had the way to heaven, yet you did not take it; instead, you barged into the gate of hell. Your death anniversary will be this day next year. Attack!"

With a wave of his hand, the leader ordered his men to rise up. They lightly stepped onto the backs of their horses and pounced toward Tian Yi.

Tian Yi fiercely retaliated against the attackers. His left palm carried the wind as he swept toward the person on his extreme left. Spinning, he dodged an assault from in front and caught sight of the man he had sent flying earlier, now on the ground coughing up blood. Relieved by a margin, he refocused his attention on the attackers.

A few of them encircled him tighter, like hungry wolves eyeing Tian Yi, as if waiting for their prey to make its final desperate struggle.

Tian Yi gripped his sword and watched them warily, before swiftly lunging at a weak spot, attempting to break their encirclement. The attackers slipped away slickly like eels, their swords aiming precisely and mercilessly at Tian Yi’s arm, slashing a long cut on his left forearm.

An attacker from behind took the opportunity to aim a sneaky thrust to the right, directing the sword tip straight at Tian Yi’s back.

’Ding’, an unexpected projectile hit the wrist of the sword-wielding attacker, causing the sword to instantly fall to the ground. The group was taken aback, looking in the direction the projectile came from.

"Master, run, it’s Prince Mei."

"Retreat, quickly retreat!" Hearing it was Prince Mei, the leader yelled in panic, mounted his horse, and prepared to make a swift escape.

The other attackers scattered, and in just a moment, they were gone without a trace.

Tian Yi’s dim eyes watched their panicked flight, a cold smirk curling on his lips as he engaged the fleeing leader tightly.

Xuan Yue and Huang Yi dismounted and ran forward, attacking the leader fiercely, and it wasn’t long before he was captured alive.

Dugu Chen, mounted on his horse, looked down haughtily at the leader of the men in black, his cold eyes emitting a piercing chill: "Hmph, you hurt my people and think you can just walk away? You greatly underestimate Prince Mei Residence."
